Description

For many, the esoteric traditions of magic and witchcraft are nothing but superstition and falsehood, they are simply how humanity understood the ancient world. But so much has been forgotten, and those forgotten things are stirring once more.

Celia Esteban was a human girl in a human world, unable to overcome the tribulations of her youth, of being different in so many ways, so when she found herself under the wings of Ultima Grimshaw, a witch and master of the Craft, a denizen of another world reduced to myth, the Woven Realm, a world of spirits and monsters, of magic in all its splendor and horror. A place so different from the little community of Puerta Springs… She took that opportunity and ran with it. When Celia steps into another world, she feels an unbearable weight and pressure, an ancient call in her soul.

When Celia arrives in the Calafia Isles, everything changes. And so does she.

I don't really know how to write a review so I'll just list the stuff that I liked.
This is a story that takes inspiration from The Owl House and I think does so in a great way that it's its own thing and sets itself apart from its inspiration.
Here is the stuff that I liked
First of all the worldbuilding is great, there is a magic system that I love the development and exploration of. The world in general is also very well thought out. There are a lot of different types of beings and it is also explained how the people of the world live.
Second, the characters are really nice and I love how they interact with each other.
The action is also great and the magic is used in creative ways.
In conclusion, I recommend reading this!

    OVERALL SCORE: 5/5 Stars
What a ride! This story hits the ground running, and I was swept up in the world from the start. It’s got a fairytale charm with an edge, whisking you away to a world that’s both fantastical and strangely familiar, a bit how it was for me to read Harry Potter.
    STYLE SCORE: 5/5
The prose is beautiful. It’s the kind that flows and carries emotion, painting scenes with an evocative brush. It's a style that’s both lush and intricate, wrapping you in its rhythm. It can get a tad much at times, but I perceive it is worth it.
    STORY SCORE: 5/5
The story is where the fairytale quality shines. It’s brimming with magic, capturing the classic apprentice-master dynamic with a fresh twist. While it sometimes lingers a bit too long on descriptions, the payoff is a richly imagined world that leaps off the page. The attention to detail can slow things down, but when the action picks up, it soars.
    GRAMMAR SCORE: 4.5/5
There are minor grammatical mistakes here and there, but they're the kind you can glance over without losing the story’s thread. They’re few and far between, and they certainly don’t break the spell this world casts.
    CHARACTER SCORE: 5/5
Character development is handled well, delving into the mentor-mentee relationship and hitting the tropes just right. Looking forward to seeing how this develops! The characters are the heart of this tale, and they pulse with life and purpose within this world.
This story is a beautiful blend of the classic and the new, and while it’s not without its slight imperfections, it’s a world that’s worth exploring. The vivid settings and the vibrant characters make for an enchanting read. Dive in for the fairytale, stay for the journey.

Linguistics-based magic, fantastical new worlds with whole new skies, and a cosy vibe (so far). It's an interesting start I must say and I can't help but get some slight owl house vibes so I guess anyone who is looking for something in that department should check right in now. Also, anyone who likes in-depth world-building like me should too! However, there does seem to be something that might be happening here with our MC's revival of old magic in this world...
But anyway, on to the categories!
    Style
Excellent so far with descriptive prose that flows well and creates some wonderful images of the world. The dialogue also flows fairly well so far too.
    Grammar
No mistakes I see so far so easy full marks in that department.
    Story
It's slow so far but I like slow and there are potentially a fair few interesting little points that are developing. Currently, it is also keeping me reading with our fairly low-stakes plot so far. Well, other than the potential of being munched on by magical beings.
    Character
To be honest did not expect to be saying "same!" in my head when it came to the MC at points so good autism rep. As for the other characters they're pretty good so far I'd say, 'nugh said.
So yeah, anyone in the market in an Owl House like series, something with deep magic and worldbuilding, or just wanting a bit different to your usual Isekai that you see here should most certainly stop reading this review and read this series.

It has been a while since I read urban fantasy and even after only reading two chapters, I can tell that AEM will bring me on a magical journey of discovery. Their way of describing the mystical landscapes always manages to conjure beautiful (or haunting) images. The characters are engaging, the world is mysterious, the atmosphere is enchanting, and I can't wait to discover more about Celia and the world she has found herself in.
