[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The world was dying.

Nuclear bombs and tactical warfare have riddled the world with human misery and degradation. Resources scarce, people scavage the lands like beasts in search of comfort and survival while the wealthy prey on their weakness, growing even more dominant. Peace is all but a forgotten practice.

The world needed a hero, and Lucian Villian was chosen if unwillingly, as its savior. His enemies, on the other hand, have grown far too powerful for him to manage, backing him into a corner. In the final decisive battle, Lucian was killed by his enemies once and for all.

Fortunately, he had a failsafe.

Transported into the Multiverse, Lucian gains a second chance at life.

Relegated to a mere soul, Lucian is left with nothing but himself in the underworld as he waits for reincarnation.

Yet, there is one advantage; He is the only conscious soul in a world of unconscious souls!

With skills, Abilities, Cultivation, and a System to boot, he must learn the paths of power.

Watch Lucian fight against the odds and find meaning in this new universe as he marks his path with Legend, guiding humanity toward supremacy.

So long The Surpasser lives, The Era of Luminosity Shall Reign!

Hi, I'm Rezonance. I've always loved reading books from the greats like ISSTH, Martial World, and much (Very much) more to a lot of stuff in RR like The New World, Randidly Ghosthound, Change New World, and Azarinth Healer, and I've been inspired to do the same. I don't have any experience as a writer, so any critiques with tangible forms of ways to improve would be highly appreciated :D

The story has a heavy emphasis on both Cultivation and Levels. Think of it like Cultivation but with quantitative numbers for power levels and the mysterious Heavens raining down on everyone's parade.

Expect consistent updates 2x a day for two weeks and 1-2x chapters Seven days a week from there on.

As far as Cultivation and LitRPG goes, Era of Luminosity pretty unique. Even though there is a bit of a buildup to it, it’s clear that the author is setting up for a pretty big payoff down the road.
The story follows Lucian, a man who had reached the pinnacle of power and personal achievement of his home universe. Unfortunately, this had the unfortunate side effect of kind of wrecking his own life, literally. Lucian dies, only to reincarnate beyond his multiverse. Lucian is an MC that has, without spoiling too much, messed up horribly despite his power in his original life and he has to learn to cope with it.
Who this is for: Someone who is looking for a powerful, intelligent, and capable MC dealing with grand challenges on both a grand and personal level.
Who this is not for: Someone looking for low level, ‘start from scratch’ type LitRPGs and grounded plots with a self-insert blank MC.

Overall: Luminosity is a really solid addition to Royal Road, and has all the ingredients to be a real success. I have some criticisms that I will set out below to hopefully aid the author, sure, but in all honesty they are more about the author tightening and improving their skills to make an already good story really shine and stand out from the crowd, because the potential is absolutely there. Recommend.
Story: In a somewhat atypical start for an story in the genre, we follow Lucian, a character who has reached the pinnacle of what can be achieved in his world, albeit with some apocolyptic side effects. He is killed by his adoptive son, and a contingency plan keeps his soul alive, and allows him to move into the multiverse: cue iskeai/system-based shenanigans. The story itself is well paces and engaging, and follows enough of the standard genre beats with the author putting their own stamp on them to be highly enjoyable for fans of the genre.
Character: I'm leaving this review fairly early in the story, so the characters themselves are a little sparse, and the ones that do exist can be a bit hit and miss. Lucian himself makes for an engaging protagonist. Cold and calculated, with enough sympathetic motivations that he is easily rooted for, despite falling firmly in the grey camp. Lucian being done well is crucial to a story like this, and this author has nailed it. The other characters are Elijah, the traitorous son, and some deities. To be honest, the god-types feel a little nebulous and standard 'gods of the system', but that's fairly common so can be glossed over. We get Elijah for two chapters, and he has incredibly cliche edgelord anime villain vibes. The author clearly has the skills to write well-fleshed out characters, so I'm hoping that if Elijah is a recurring character, he can give us something a little more engaging than what we currently have.
Style: A good mix of pacy prose and decent imagery, keeping up the pace that is so imporant for this particu

Overall I had a blast reading this story, the pacing is fantastic and even the descriptive word selection is great and it feels like there isnt much if any repetition of descriptors.
Style: The first chapter conveys the apocalyptic nature of the scene perfectly and kept me invested from literally the first paragraph. I was very pleased that such high quality writing continued into the proceeding chapters.
Story: Most isekai are about weaker characters or about wish fulfillment and the characters are often perverts or genrally uninteresting pieces of garbage. This story sidesteps this entirely as the mc is already powerful in his own universe and maintains his memories the story becomes much more interesting than others in the isekai category.
Grammar: I have found no issues with the gramatical content of the story and even the dialogue is quite well done and formatted.
Character: Lucian is practically overflowing with drama and depths that the author is leaving open ended hopefully in order to dive deeper into his character with more cconcrete details sooner rather than later. I hope for side characters to also get the chance to take center stage at some point. Perhaps in an interlude? The system itself is cearly defined and has just a bit of humor that almost reminds me of an older fiction about a man named Garth. I look forward to reading more!

Style: This story is well-written. It opens with an evocative description that conveys the drama and apocalyptic nature of the first scene, and its system and abilities are also done well. The author effectively paints the world and system for the reader. It's worth checking out for fans of isekai, system novels, and cultivation.
Story: This story has an interesting set-up, with an isekai situation that involves a powerful character surviving to transport into another world. It's interesting to see how the MC comes to terms with their past while striving for power in the Multiverse. The MC's story is an interesting twist on the hero's journey.
Grammar: The grammar has no glaring issues, the English is solid.
Character: Lucian's character has an interesting premise, and is written well. After he is transported, he goes through the usual uncertainty and learning process of isekai protagonists. While this is written competently, it would have been nice to see his difficult, dramatic history shining through more clearly, since it helps make him a unique and interesting character. But the novel still does a good job at balancing his obvious past knowledge with his current predicament. The system is also portrayed well, matter-of-fact but with a hint of humour.

OS: It's the book ever book wants to be it practically the best role model for fantasy out there but especially for genius character MC focuses.
Story: The story is excellent and done very well, Provides good context on how and why everything is happening in a good amount of time. Needs more background knowledge explained on some things
And the revenge isn't over done yet which is hard to do, though I feel at times he is too smart especially when dealing with all the new stuff he has too deal with and he being still technically lvl 1. Needs more explanation s on his soul experiments what he discover even if its minor stuff and other important stuff is found out later in the story bc right now we are just find out he knows some techniques out of nowhere and don't know hoe much he knows and the limit...
I see no obvious problems either in the story as well besides the ones pointed out.
Grammer: There is little to no grammar problems. In 30 chapters that is impressive though I'm a newer reader but still it seems very well edited.
Style: Style is imperfect but that just shows it can still grow which shows incredible potential after all no perfect thing exist but you can see though that everything is very well thought out and tons of effort put into everything.
    Character: Characters Great but
relys a bit to much on knowledge of mythology and provides no context on the god but still a small problem that could fixed a number of ways.
Needs a bit more context for some other characters that are involved in the MCs path to power.
Elijah needs more background on how he became such at heartless poo. More Background on people that were his "allies" besides his wife unless he didn't have any but that would suck because that would mean he did so much basically all by him self.

I want to start out by saying, that this is one of the more unique ideas I've seen for lit RPG and Isekai reincarnation. The overall world building and the thrust of the larger plot are very interesting. I genuinely want to see this story as a well-crafted fully finished product. But as it stands right now, it needs a lot of work.
The style and story scores are pretty self-explanatory based upon the above paragraph, but to go into more detail on the other two:
Grammar: this is the weakest part of this work. By far. There are consistent errors. The tense shifts between present and past quite often, sometimes even within a single paragraph or sentence. There are the occasional small misspelling, missed word or punctuation, or something like that. It doesn't break the story for me, but a lot of editing would do this book good. Author, if you either don't have the time or the knowledge to fix every part of what I'm talking about here, I would respectfully suggest leaning on your comments or finding someone else to do it for you. Because it is very noticeable.
Character: this is sort of back and forth for me. Because the ideas of the characters that are set forth are mostly pretty good. The archetypes they draw on and the kinds of people they are supposed to be sound interesting. But they don't always match their ideas. This is shown especially in dialogue that feels a bit clunky to me, and in the fact that the main character who is supposed to be a peak scientist doesn't seem to experiment or hypothesize with his new situation basically at all. At least up to the chapter I read which I believe was chapter 12. It doesn't seem like there's a whole lot he could do to truly experiment, but he doesn't even seem to consider it, or really work out the stats on his sheet and the math behind them and what they do and all the rest of that. Or maybe he does, and it's just not communicated to the reader clearly. He repeatedly narrates that he has grown significantly in strength whe

honestly for the most part the story is fine. The main issues I have with it are the incessant grammatical errors(salochn's review points some of these out more specifically) and the frequent plot holes. The MC seems able to use a technique he magically invented in a time gap we did not get to see whenever he needs something to get out of a situation.
    tldr.
wish fulfillment story that is full of plot holes and grammatical errors but seems to have an interesting overarching plot.

It's written rather well but it's incredibly cliché. There are so many overdone tropes are in this, also a fair warning he's op. Spoiler, at one point he does this speech thing about his path and how everything is unfair, Anyway it's very cringey and cheesy, however the actual writing is rather good. In essence this is a an op wish fufillment story which is very cringe worthy in places but is written with a decent standard.

I tried, but the writing is just too poor to continue in hope of improvement. The prose is awkward, it reads like it's been translated.  The characters are incredibly one dimensional, and are more caricature than character. It reads like a 12 year olds first power fantasy novel attempt, where the MC is just better, and smarter by virtue of just existing than any quality demonstrated. The one commonality in every interaction no matter who's present is a sense of smug oblivious superiority, which is not an endearing story component. Overall doesn't seem like a redeemable story. Hopefully the author learns from the experience and grows with practice, but I can't see a future on this attempt.
