One week. If you survive, you choose a Cosmic Power...Ifyou survive.
Jace isn't one to give up. Not when his sister dies. Not when he loses his legs. And definitely not when The Cosmic System takes over Earth.
With nothing more than his street smarts, the clothes on his back, and a river otter companion; he must survive a planet full of vicious predators that see him as an easy meal.
If he can survive? He gets to choose a Cosmic Power and a Class. A path to ascension. A way to bring his sister back.

- roteskoalababyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Having read up to chapter 25, I’m genuinely excited to see how this web serial continues to unfold. The pacing has been a major highlight—it’s steady without feeling rushed, and I hope it maintains this consistency without branching into overly complicated subplots. The story feels fresh and engaging, which is a challenge in a genre like sci-fi where so much has already been explored. For me, it stands out as something novel, introducing ideas and plotlines that feel unique.
The characters are another strength. They’re as relatable as one could hope for in a story of this kind, and their decisions feel grounded and reasonable. It’s refreshing to read a narrative that avoids glaring plot holes or contrived actions. The author also does an excellent job of providing insight into the characters’ thoughts and motivations, adding depth to their arcs.
From a stylistic perspective, the consistency is admirable. There are no sudden or jarring shifts in tone, and the layout choices enhance the readability. The grammar and overall flow are smooth, making it easy to stay immersed in the story. For fans of sci-fi, this is a well-written and enjoyable read, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try. - MAVR0SRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is great, it has its moments as amazing and some as (IMO) subpar. I enjoyed reading it and never at any point did I consider dropping it, which says a lot cause I drop books a lot. Every single detail is extremely well done, as you will find with this author. This won't be the best book you ever read or anything, but it certainly won't be one you regret reading.
- SunnmannRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Not good with words, just the fact that I am leaving a review says how much I like the story. I am loving the story so far, it has kept me entertained and waiting for more after I have caught up. I like how there are so many sci-fi and fantasy elements pulled into one.
- TeMatoLocoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great beginning and story/character building! Loving the mechanics of the system in this story so far and how leveling up works.
The companions that the ascendants get is a good twist as well and I am liking the relationship the MC with his Otter :)
The author isnt afraid of his MC losing limbs by any means which equals some pretty intense fight scenes early on - CharlyHaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you ask me what I like most about this story it would be its balance... and that is exactly what keeps this story a very entertaining and very good written read...
There are many stories that are featuring a system apocalypse... but this one sticks out.
In this story is very little black and white... more like various shades of grey and colours... the heroes are not hypothetical or too self-assured... the same goes for the system... and that is exactly the reason for the fast-response unit the mc belongs to
The characters are fleshed out and have their (tragic) backstories, which are featured but not with too much emphasis on it... enough to understand and feel their reasoning but not to the point it feels forced or too much
There is definitely enough world-building and descriptions to take you to the places but not to the point it gets boring...
There are always new and interesting aspects in every single chapter either character world-building or storyline ...
and I positively love the MCs dedication to his goal which is always there, underlying, but not single minded or to the point where he would forsake living his life in the moment... that coupled with his intelligence and no-nonsense attitude is real fun to read... he has the necessary grit without being a cold monster...
Everything else would only be a spoiler so 10/5 stars ... for a very enjoyable and good story written by an author who knows how to write - OniTatsuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the book has been great, the occasional POV shifts keep the characters a fresh breath that keeps the book 📚 interesting, just hope that it does not go overboard later. Jace is a gritty character that is relatable and Oliver is a cool companion. The interplay between Jace and Oliver is comedic at times to lighten the mood
- SodaPop2077Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I dont rrally know what else to put here, the MC is competent but not ridiculously OP, the characters are written well story (so far) is good, coherent, and without massive plotholes or idiot plots. A great story, highly recommend if you like magitech, world hopping and a intelligent hero
- ThatHydeKidRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a fun story with a different twist. The MC is an unlikely hero with a classical motivation, but the MC has his own idealistic ideals and morals. The writing is good, and some of the characters are reasonably fleshed out. Some of the side-kicks are not quite as well developed, but it is still a great read.
I hope the author can continue with enjoyable tale. - Void ElementRoyal Road★★★ 3.0It's a fun story so far. I thought it was a contender for a good story to share with the kids, but eventually it hit the usual problems... sexual content. So a swing and a miss on shareability.
Cool system and fun characters though they come across to me as very childlike which was fine then until the random sexual hook up, at which point acting childlike seemed out of place.
I think the story has lots of potential to be good. The plotting/pacing is very well done. Definitely the best aspect of the story. It feels compelling and urgent. It draws in the reader and makes you want more.
Character-wise, several do the characters feel too similar. In the most recent house party chapter there were several manipulators attending. A little weird that this personality is used for so many. So I hope going forward that the characters differentiate more.
Lots of potential. Let's see if it pans out. - MercOfTroyRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I will start by saying the grammar and the story overall is good, but it is the rest that caused me to lose interest.
The basic issue for me is that so far the main character’s decisions are completely railroaded and the system embodies many of the worst traits in this genre. Skill progression does not involve improving actual skills to improve and instead just allocating energy from kills. Receives peak resources off the bat due to a little luck. Class and skills are just given with little reflection to the mc’s abilities in particular.
For example:
When selecting a class, every option is Swordmage. It reflects absolutely nothing about their path so far and a magic/rogue build would fit the character much better.
This is not to say such things are always bad, they are not. If the main character was unique or there were other goals besides just ‘more power for xyz reasons' I would complain about the system less. Instead they are the loner combat focused mc seen in many of these stories, just with a cyberpunk twist.
I guess my verdict is if you like generic power fantasy, this story is for you. If you are looking for a story that focuses on characters or a unique system it would be best to look elsewhere.
