One week. If you survive, you choose a Cosmic Power...Ifyou survive.
Jace isn't one to give up. Not when his sister dies. Not when he loses his legs. And definitely not when The Cosmic System takes over Earth.
With nothing more than his street smarts, the clothes on his back, and a river otter companion; he must survive a planet full of vicious predators that see him as an easy meal.
If he can survive? He gets to choose a Cosmic Power and a Class. A path to ascension. A way to bring his sister back.

Enough a realistic perspective on how people would react in the situations they've been placed, not everyone is a Stone cold killer out to become a demigod, but not everyone is a Goody 2 shoes who will do everything to help you, No matter what, without any thought to their own benefi.
- Brythnoth: Void ChampionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Once More I am back in a SerasStreams Novel, Reviewing, and once again 5/5. Their work is great and it’s great to read more of their work; especially one that follows a different track than Ruinous Return. While it’s still Dark Fantasy made beautifully; it’s far less Personal Horror, following a bunch of people with issues in a fucked up world, and far more systemic Dark Fantasy. We’ve got multiple Major factions on a Galactic (at least, it might be Intergalactic; we don’t know) level. This setup is going to allow for an expansive and multifaceted story that I can’t wait to get more of. For any unaware of SerasStreams, they are not only a great writer, but they are able to make complex, realistic, and fallible characters all without making them feel pathetic, stupid, and/or NPC like. Unless they actually are like that, but in that case you’ll see their ineptitude far in advance. And this is how I know that this story is going to be great, I can already see the threads and hooks of character flaws and emotions ready to be pulled taught; it’s gonna be great.
Ramble over, I promise (coming back to this point, it seems I underestimated just how much I had to say, so an Aimed Ramble warning this be.) Here’s the in depth explanation of why, exactly, this story rocks and you should read it.
Style: System Integration 5/5:
This is at its core, a system integration story. It’s got a leveling system, and a lot of power very quickly. For most authors this can, and does, get out of hand quite quickly. Character levels up, gets more power, becomes harder to beat, Repeat until godhood, and Viola you’d have a dime-a-dozen Power Fantasy. This is not going to be like that for 2 reasons: 1. SerasStreams knows how to write high-power combat and keep it engaging, they know how to put limits in and work inside of those limits, and they do it well. 2. (Mini-Ramble warning) A System story can only be as good as its System, and if you don’t plan out exactly how your system works and where i - Bradley WeyersRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In mega corporation distopian future earth is incorporated in to a system universe. Main character is a street rat / courier that gets caught up in bigger issues. Well written and not to much stat or system menu items. Story has other points of view but they merge seemlessly into the overall narrative. Well worth the read.
- Jayson BenedictRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have really enjoyed the story so far! A scrappy adult with little education but a mountain of grit, the companion that each ascendant has also helps it feel like we are organically learning about the world instead of being overloaded with exposition. I feel like the progression has been well paced so far and that the writing quality has been good as well. I look forward to the rest of the story!
- LukasMaximusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0love this story so far , I really like how you have used dedicated POV chapters to help flesh out the other characters in the story, I also like your different take on XP it makes your story feel different to all the generic ‘system’ style of genres. Can’t wait to read more and find out if Jace and Ollie make it to T10!
- MAVR0SRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is great, it has its moments as amazing and some as (IMO) subpar. I enjoyed reading it and never at any point did I consider dropping it, which says a lot cause I drop books a lot. Every single detail is extremely well done, as you will find with this author. This won't be the best book you ever read or anything, but it certainly won't be one you regret reading.
- CharlyHaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you ask me what I like most about this story it would be its balance... and that is exactly what keeps this story a very entertaining and very good written read...
There are many stories that are featuring a system apocalypse... but this one sticks out.
In this story is very little black and white... more like various shades of grey and colours... the heroes are not hypothetical or too self-assured... the same goes for the system... and that is exactly the reason for the fast-response unit the mc belongs to
The characters are fleshed out and have their (tragic) backstories, which are featured but not with too much emphasis on it... enough to understand and feel their reasoning but not to the point it feels forced or too much
There is definitely enough world-building and descriptions to take you to the places but not to the point it gets boring...
There are always new and interesting aspects in every single chapter either character world-building or storyline ...
and I positively love the MCs dedication to his goal which is always there, underlying, but not single minded or to the point where he would forsake living his life in the moment... that coupled with his intelligence and no-nonsense attitude is real fun to read... he has the necessary grit without being a cold monster...
Everything else would only be a spoiler so 10/5 stars ... for a very enjoyable and good story written by an author who knows how to write - MuRm3rRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0To be quite honest, I'm loving this story. I read a lot and it means I see a lot of things that just don't add up. Like a lvl 1 taking put 11 impact with no prior experience. I haven't really seen that in this story. Sure he's super strong, but it's explained and makes sense. The pacing is good, character relationships develope, and the author is very forward about things that might not make sense as explained in his author notes at the beginning of the chapters. So overall it's getting a 5 just cuz I can't tell you anything that's wrong with it. It's been a good read so far.
- NycterelisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has an interesting blend of cyberpunk and high fantasy. While the repetition of "magic, technology, or magitech" gets a little grating, i honestly cannot think of a better or more apt description for what the universe contains.
At a high level, the system might be favorite thing about the story, which seems to be a little polarizing based on the reviews, but let me set the record straight.
The system is not "willy-nilly", and you *do not* see any given class doing some other class-archetype's skills. I think one reviewer mentioned something about an assassin using spells and that has just never happened in the story so far. Largely because "spells", as the average reader thinks of them" are just skills. To wit, in a video game, does the warrior's battle shout that buffs allies count as a spell? What about the thief's acid trap? And here's the fun one, the wizard's fireball? When you have a system, whether in games or books, it demands categorization. That's why it's a system. And in this system, "spells" are considered outside of the system (that's as much as I'll say in the subject because more is a spoiler), but anything a warrior, rogue, or mage does is a skill. Full stop.
What the system is: it's both intuitive and descriptive. Imagine making your character and when it comes to choosing your class the game asks you "how do you want to interact with the world?", "what are things you want your class to be able to do?", "what is your preferred method of fighting?" And then based on the class description you give the system, it gives you options. Sounds cool right?
It gets better. Now it's time to choose skills, which is very similar to choosing a class. You tell the system what kind of skill you want, and it gives you the closest approximation of your intent (limited by the "power" you chose when creating your class). I won't get into the powers because i think that's more fun to discover as you read.
As for the story and the characters, it's not without - OniTatsuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the book has been great, the occasional POV shifts keep the characters a fresh breath that keeps the book 📚 interesting, just hope that it does not go overboard later. Jace is a gritty character that is relatable and Oliver is a cool companion. The interplay between Jace and Oliver is comedic at times to lighten the mood
