This is probably the most compelling isekai I've stumbled across on RR. A very well-built combination of death game, reincarnation, litRPG, and kingdom-building that work way better together than I would have expected. This story has about everything you can ask for: great world-building, solid character writing, good dialogue, polished grammar, an investing narrative, gristle, romance... The list goes on.
As one might guess from the title of this review, this is a good modern take on the John Carter series by Edgar Rice Burroughs; the author himself makes a big of a reference with one of the chapter titles. Essentially, a man from Earth with a varied past falls in with a warlike race of nomads, and he grows to be more like them as they become more like him. Armed with his barbarian horde and a pretty cool magic system, hijinks ensue.
Deserving special mention is that our isekai'd MC is *not* the stereotypical desk jockey who knows a little about everything and can instantly raise a society from the dark ages into an industrial powerhouse. He does use modern knowledge to benefit his tribe, but it's generally through knowledge that he would reasonably have based on what we've seen and know of him before his transportation.
I do have one nitpick in that the MC's skills as former soldier seem to benefit him more than his skills and mindset as a contract killer, even though the latter is the bigger part of the premise and gets called back to more often. Even before he goes full warlord, he makes decisions the it feels odd for a murderer-for-hire to make; most of these are justified, but it would have been nice to see a more gradual transition as he had to move away from the MOs that worked for him in the past.

Honestly the reference in some chapters are hilarious, hahah goat fuckers 😂 I'm also enjoying how the author is developing and progressing the world and character environment which I love to see that type of progression.
I'm feeling the Gangis Khan feeling, I liked the  chapter describing the mines on first sight I was really able to imagine the environment the cave took on.

Six Souls is a well-written, intriguing story with a compelling MC (What more can you ask for?). The prose flows really well and the writing keeps me turning the pages, wanting to find out what's going to happen next and how Ray is going to deal with it. The action is fast-paced and isn't bogged down by unnecessary exposition every two lines. So overall, I'm stoked to see how this story turns out!

Wow wow wow dude you story is really good! Keep up the good work (: I can really say I'm eagerly waiting already to your next chapter. Didn't notice grammar issues but English is not my native language 👀 really liked the way you stretch the time as the story demend it. One time it's slow, another time weeks seems to naturally pass.

This is a well written tight story with minimal grammar errors throughout. The main character has a lot of personality that makes him recognizable, distinct, and memorable without having to resort to shocking character decisions.
Milc is a talented writer who doesn't forget the basics of what makes a story fun to read -- set up and pay off -- and they deliver on both.
A lot of stories fall into a trap where they focus too much on one aspect of a story over another, whether that be the characters, the world building, dialogue, or whatever else. However all of those are integrated naturally into the story ensuring that the pace never drags and remains engaging for the entire read.

If you've ever seen Mr. Inbetween, then you know who the author took inspiration from for the MC. I personally think the high notes got hit pretty well. There's a few bones I could pick with the MC, things that don't make sense for someone with a military background, but the story doesn't really lean on that all that much.
At the time of writing, we aren't quite at Genghis Khan levels. More of a little Timudjin. We are, however, well on our way and things are starting to take shape.
I'll say that the beginning can be a little rough to get through. People like me who don't like when autonomy is taken from the MC might balk a bit, but I urge you to continue. It will be very brief and well worth it.
I do wish that the surroundings and the world in general was a bit more descriptive. A little more detail to make the surroundings stand out a bit more.
If you like a OP protagonist in a sort-of medieval world setting, fireballs vaporizing undead and savagely beautiful tribal women, then this is a book for you.
Bloody hell, how many words are 200 anyway?

This story really is a treat to read. The world as seen through the MC really comes through and makes it impossible not to go for one more chapter. Sure, the writing might be a little bit rough around the edges but what RR story isn't. The pacing of the story is well done and the side characters really add to the MC performance.

    Reviewed at Chapter 45.
From the beginning, I really enjoyed the story and connected with the main character. The world is rich with side characters, and there's no shortage of action and adventure. It’s clear that a lot of effort went into building this story, and I appreciated that.
However, over time, the narrative began to feel stretched. The plot progress slowed considerably, and character development seemed deliberately held back. I can't point to a single turning point, but gradually, reading shifted from being enjoyable to feeling more like a habit driven by curiosity than genuine engagement.
That said, I still think the story has merit—especially for readers who enjoy detailed action sequences and a very gradual pace. It may not be for everyone, but there's certainly an audience that will appreciate what it offers.
For me, though, I’ve decided to stop reading at this point. I’m grateful for the chapters I did enjoy, and I wish the author the best as the story continues.

Like any power based fantasy, we see people get eventually to a point where things go off the rails. Honestly Raymond gets a bit too strong around the time he can recruit Narbo's boys, which is really where you see a tipping point of scale.
I don't think I've ever seen this power escalation problem solved, nor do I think it will be in a reasonable manner. If your hero doesn't go through the cycle of fall, learn, rise, conquer it tends to never get heard.
That aside its just the right sort of edge case that you can call it good work for this particular kind of character and deep enough to drown someone in passably without slogging for months to a satisfactory conclusion.

This is a well written story with few grammar and spelling mistakes. The characters overall feel believable and real, even most of the side characters. I'm not the biggest fan of litrpg, but the gamefication aspects make a lot of sense in the story considering what's going on and loose a lot of their relevancy later in the story as things progress. The mc is likeable despite being a morally very dark grey character, and the author does a good job at making the not Mongols interesting and barbaric while still being a people you can root for.
This is a "man vs god" and an ascension story where one of driving motivations of the mc is to get revenge on and kill the god that screwed him and gets him into the situation he is in. That is not uncommon, however the method by which he succeeds in that is far more original and interesting than is typical in other stories in this genre since the gods cannot truly be killed. I appreciated that and the road we travel to get there.
