Really an excellent book that got passed over by the gods of web views. Book one is complete, leaving book 2 with a strong opening potential.
Book is generally fantasy, i.e. bows and arrows, magic and no cars.
I don't do reviews, so, check it out, you won't be disappointed.

While I like magic, this series seems to treat it as something extremely rare and powerful, as opposed to something common. I think it's quite a breath of fresh air!
The book's start is a bit rough, due to jumping around to different plot threads each chapter, but it seems to settle down around chapter four.
    Getting into spoilers now:
The first chapter is great, absolutely perfect writing, I cannot see any flaws in grammar or anything. It's great to introduce the reader to the book, as it combines worldbuilding and action perfectly. The character is cruel and really lets the readers know that this world is not a kindly place to most, especially those who aren't ruling class.
Then after she dies, it jumps like four decades into the future...
Yeah, I didn't really like this at first, I knew there probably would be something like this occuring, but it completely rips out of the main story. The character also seems to make a really illogical choice reguarding his families safety, to keep them out of danger, he ends up putting them in more danger.
And as soon as you question that, it just rips away into a new plotline nine years in the future.
Despite all that, I rather enjoy the current plot thread! And while I can't really make any large comments, I feel that the book could do without the second chapter, instead moving it to another space (I'm probably wrong, but that's just my experience as a new reader)
Try this one out! It's long and it will quench your thirst for a nice fantasy novel with quality characters and world without being overly complicated!
