Simon is unlucky, somewhat dumb, but totally persistent, & totally the character we're happy rooting for. The author, thebusybard, delivers zanny fun payoffs in a system apocalypse universe. I don't want to spoil the story, so I will just say everyone gets yeeted into another plane where the system that governs your & everyone's life caters to the gods & the gods are assholes (well most there is a pretty fun flame god, but it can't help you much besides being friendly & finding sticks to burn). Read for sure if you enjoyed fooly cooly. The story is really well written.

Overall: Thrilling story where nothing is handed to the main character, all of his progression is hard earned and satisfying. Simon persists even when the gods themselves are against him. In a world newly integrated into the system where limits are unknown Simon finds himself in the presence of those who would seek to limit his growth. The story has a vast new world to explore, stunning landscapes to behold, gods to blaspheme, and excellent characters who make you want to root for them.
Style: The writing draws you into the world with beautiful descriptions that place you right in the characters shoes. Vivid descriptions of a world with magical beauty and great writing of character-to-character interactions with layered dialogue that draws you into the mysteries of the world.
Grammar: Grammar is good, easy to read and grammatical errors don't stay around long.
Story: This story is about Simon Starfall, who defies the gods, and is paying the price for that defiance. Despite all of that this story still has many comedic moments. So far the main character has just begun his journey in the vast new world and I cannot wait to see where he goes!
Characters: The Characters well written, the dialogue is entertaining while still informing you of the world. Simon is a smart-mouthed MC that you cant help but root for. he has no fear of speaking his mind, even to the gods.
The story is engaging and well written, it reminds me of Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, much like in Royal Road Simon Starfall (the MC) doesn’t get anything handed to him. He must work for every experience point, every skill point, and every level up. The story feels more rewarding because of it. When Simon earns a level up it is because he worked damn hard for it. I am excited to see where the story goes next.
    Oh and Tuesdays Suck.

Might be too slow for some, think thats why the rating is what it is.

In a universe where the unreasonable rule, it only makes sense to bend the knee and accept the limits placed on you. Right?
    WRONG!
You need to hit them where it hurts; and nothing hurts more than when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Never be broken to another's will. And seriously; screw Tuesdays.
Really looking forward to more! Great story with plenty of humour.

Overall this story is masterfully crafted. The reader is immersed into Simon's struggles - which are many- and quickly learns that Tuesdays are NOT a good days.
Style score: I am fully immersed in these worlds. Description is detailed and such that the reader can easily visualize Simon's experiences. The characters are well- developed and react to events naturally. Simon, the main character, not only faces several situations with fear and frustration, but also uses his humor to help him endure. He develops and grows as a human with each challenging situation rather having a stagnate personality. Care is given as each character is introduced to make them "3-D", even if that character's appearance is brief. Additionally, the story is well written. The author is skilled at the nuances of creating a story - word choice, incorporating figurative language, etc.
Story Score: I have thoroughly enjoyed this story. Simon finds himself in what should be  inescapable and perilous situations, and right when you think Simon has attained one modicum of success, the universe knocks him down. Situations he faces are creatively and agilely spun.
    Grammar: Great job!
Character Score: Simon is complex and I find myself liking him at times and other times thinking him an asshole. I love Simon's sense of humor and how it is a necessary part of his survival. Secondary characters are well developed .

It is rare that a book gets me enraged enough to disrupt  my sleep schedule.
You dear author with your banishment arc (especially chapter 67) got my ire up for the first time in a good couple of months!
Before anyone complains about shaming the author or being a negative nelly. ITS NOT A BAD THING!
Anytime a book can touch your innermost and make you FEEL things, shows that the author has written something that resonates and has hooked his readers into caring for the characters!
Splendidly done dear author. I have had only one or two fictions on RR grab me so much that I feel with and for the characters.
The story arc is well thought out and the characters engaging and fun to read.
The engagement you provoke is what vindicates the 5 star.
    Well worth the read!

This is perhaps one of the of the fairest systems I have ever read for the genre. Everything is earned. Every skill, every power up is earned through effort and sacrifice. If you are a frost kin that can’t survive in a warm climate. Place yourself in an incinerator until you get a heat resistance skill. See, completely fair… as long as you accept the system everything makes sense and any limit can be surpassed.
Then you have the protagonist who pisses off and pisses on everyone.

Doomed and Damned is a fairly standard post-apocalyptic system integration setting, written well by someone with an abundance of interesting and unique ideas. I like it’s tone, characters and the ways it differentiates itself from others in the genre.
however, I feel that the one major snarl that prevents me from enjoying this fiction fully is the mantra of “Harmony is offered. Growth is earned. Limits are unknown.” That is repeated throughout. This mantra is false. Avoiding overt spoilers - the main character is forced into a situation where another entity violates the final part of the mantra, and places a limit on Simon that prevents him from using martial skills, like hitting things, or swinging weapons. Normally I’d ignore such a thing, but the core of this story’s system is its impartiality and promise of fairness.
Simon also gets an ability that should allow him to circumvent this limit, but… ehhhh. It doesn’t really seem to come up? Not clearly at least.
anyway because of this contradiction of the system’s own ethos, I rate it 3.5 stars. It’s well written, but I personally get a mental itch over things like this.

I'm at the end of book 1, and nothing good has happened to the mc, it's been shit after shit after fucking shit. Every, single, time something SLIGHTLY good has happened, it's been shat on at least twice as hard. It's so frustrating, I'm practically hate reading at this point, sunk cost fallacy and all, hoping that ANYTHING good will happen to him. At this point I doubt it but there is hope that book 2 will have this turn around........
The system is good and fun in a lot of aspects, infuriatingly bad in others(needing a hub to get his fucking class and thus stopping his progression). The story is grammatically correct and the sentences are structured well.
