- L&L2009Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is one of my top 5 on here, and one of my favorites considering ever book I’ve read ever.
The mc is fun and his interactions with side characters are as well. I like the way that even as he evolves and progressives he’ll still visit he’s favorite people. It’s also nice to see how said interactions change over the loops.
While the charters are good my favorite part is the Chimera Core the mc has. The authors actually used the chimerical abilities to create unique creatures from ones from our world. Plus once the mc gets mystical beings parts the forms get even more complex and interesting. Another good thing about the story is the actually skills he can learn. Because just like his body he can put multiple skills together to make a better overarching one. It’s always interesting to see what whole will come from the parts. - DangerkinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m a big fan of the time loop grinding genre and this story scratches that itch. The story honestly has a lot of potential and I can’t wait to see how Fuse navigates this world. It does occasionally seem a little 2D in terms of character personality but the story is still so early that I feel that we’ll eventually see some more complexity and growth.
- TreebriarwoodRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ten chapters in and I'm hooked like a fish on the line and I wouldn't have it any other way
It's hard to put into words what this is like, but the pacing, characterization, development and writing are all incredibly well done without many glaring flaws as far as I can see (Ten chapters doesn't give me much to review but what can you do with something this good?)
The time loop aspect of it all is very well done with the entire butterfly effect changing things and how people react which is par of course, but the MC? He's really self aware that he's a weak thing with the ability to rise to greatness, especially when everything he devours becomes just another transformation of his
Love it all, would read again if given amnesia (Still would re read) - The CommentatorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really enjoyed this story, and it didn't stay too long. There are a lot of stories on Royal Road that go on for hundreds and thousands of chapters, and many of those begin to feel bloated and start losing their charm. This story avoided that, keeping to certain points as long as they were enjoyable, and then leaving them before they were overdone. And the ending pretty perfectly ended the story, even if it was a bit more surprising than I would have expected.
Overall, definitely deserving of five stars, was very enjoyable to read. - shashashaaaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Just finished binging this book over the last two days. Some of the other reviewers clearly did not like the ending, and I can only guess they were reading episodically, and some of the shifts in pacing (the author talks about this in the afterward) might have made them forget that this is a horror story. Only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars is the pacing issue; I think the ending was phenomenal and inevitable.
- NickthulhuRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5LitRPG, Time Loop, Monster Evolution, Chimera. The MC is reincarnated after a wizard's ritual as a newly formed Chimera. He has to kill animals and monsters for experience. Eat them to unlock more skills, powers, and body options. All the while stuck in a time loop because of a crazy wizard's experiments.
The MC uses his wits, and the time loop to explore and grown in this strange new world. Every level he can learn a new skill from the creature's he's eaten. He can also upgrade himself to gain new body parts to switch. And upgrade his storage to store more of himself to use when he transforms.
The story is enjoyable. The MC has to grow and figure out his powers. He's made friends along the way, who forget him whenever the time loop resets. He's planning on how to get stronger to defeat the wizard and beat the time loop. The MC is a bit two-dimensional right now. We don't really know him as a character. Though I feel like he's slowly being fleshed out. Hopefully he'll be able to remember some of his past soon which will help.
I'm quite enjoying this story and looking forward to more! - SiliconWolfRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5TL;DR: very well written. Ending was a big surprise, but made sense...mostly. I do not recommend this book.
Check the title of my review. If you like stories that end on a high note, this story is not what you're looking for.
Grammar is fine. Plot is almost perfect. Spelling is good. Style has no problems. Characters make sense.
And yet.
I like stories that end on a high note. So I'm rather annoyed. But I can't and won't give a bad rating for something I was never promised.
If you don't mind unhappy ever after stories, there is a good chance you will like this. So please do not read my spoiler. For everyone like me, you're not going to read the story, so check out my spoiler that explains why I dropped my score by half a star.
The main character was forced to endure traumatic events repeatedly throughout the book due to time magic. The main character hates time magic.
What isn't believable at all is that the main character did not destroy the books on time magic. Instead, he left that task to his ward WITHOUT EXPLAINING WHY THE BOOKS SHOULD BE DESTROYED. So of course the ward didn't destroy them.
Also, main character commits suicide at the end of the story. Which is actually 95% of what I'm upset about.
In summary: this book is depressing and infuriating. If I wanted depressing and infuriating stuff, I can just turn on the news. Not recommended for anyone. - KamikazeArchonRoyal Road★ 1.0After finishing this story, I immediately thought "this is game of thrones all over again", and was amused to see that another reviewer had said the exact same thing.
The author directly says that a gut punch out-of-nowhere ending stays with you much longer than a happy ending. This is entirely true. But it's true for the same reason why I vividly remember that time I got food poisoning from a restaurant, much more than I remember every other restaurant meal I've had
"Staying with you longer" is not the same thing as "being better." - FromThePaleRoyal Road★ 0.5That is what I would say if I could send a message to my past self. Though that would likely just lead to me reading it out of curiosity, dooming me to mt ly fate. Time Loop sustained.
The epilogue is a product of an author with poor impulse control and a desire to subvert expectations at the expense of good writing.
No, author, you did not make anything new or memorable. This "twist" is something fit for a 30 minute SCP article(or the first paragraph of an angry review), not a story I wasted weeks reading.
What Fuse ended up needing to do was good writing BECAUSE there was build up to it, you could see it coming much like how you can feel that you're approaching the end of a book. Your "twist" came out of nowhere, it's pure shock value. Turns out the only thing that can ruin a story more than a poorly written ending is a poorly written epilogue. - Cy M.Royal Road★ 0.5So this story was a lot of fun to read as it was coming out, the main character has a fun progression system and seeing him figure out how to make the best loop he can for everybody he meets is a blast.
Then it suddenly turned super grimdark at the end, though it isnt really much of a surprise since it is heavily foreshadowed. I would recommend stopping at the "good" ending, it gets fairly depressing past that.
