I opened this in a new tab about 6 months ago as a referral from another story I was reading, but didn't actually get round to reading it until recently.
And am I glad I did. Waiting so long to read it (because I admittedly wasn't grabbed by the title or the blurb) just meant that I had so much more to binge! The story is well written and engaging, the pacing is good and the comedy elements are well done.
It's been a fun ride so far and it's definitely a story I'll keep coming back to for more!

It's hard to form a complete opinion of the story as it's still early in its development. That said there are clear things that I like and dislike.
On the negative the story lacks oomph, the reader is constantly supplied information without full context which cheapens the ongoings of the story.
On the positive the reader is constantly immersed in a palatable xania world with sects, items, techniques with fun names and all the other bits that make these stories a nice bag of potato chips.
If the author can smoothe out the perspective shifts and streamline the presentation of information and world building I think this story holds potential and recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable cultivation story.

Its a story about a human from earth who unfortunately has been transported in probably the most notorious demonic elder in the sect. Troubles? Plenty, and its been interesting to see him use the great dao of bs to baffle his way through everything. Really good read hopefully more chapters coming

    I'm enjoying this story.
The tone is light, our protagonist is genre savvy, And they're in way over their head. These elements all make for a good story.
Another point for it is that, cultivation and XianXia specific, when a person uses a power said power gets a 'real world' consequences description. Like the 'ground shattering strike' power gets a 'spikes erupt from the ground' line that is missing sometimes. Really helps with how things flow.
What's really helping this along is that all the side characters are distinct. Sure there are plenty of throwaway chaff, mooks even, but they're used for their intended purpose.
If you enjoy cultivation nonsense, and comedy, you'll enjoy this story. I'm looking forward to more.

Honestly my favourite novel at this point. The humor is so good, I'm honestly surprised. From MC's screaming matches with the System, to the misunderstandings and false reputation, everything just works. One of my favourite running gags is people noticing and pointing out when the MC is interacting with the system. To them, he just looks like he has spaced out but for me it feels like it kind of adds to his perceived reputation. Like he is so high up in cultivation that he tends to focus on the will of Heaven or something.
The characters are the best part. The "simple" names make them easy to remember. They also have very memoriable and distinct personalities. I remember reading other Xianxia stories and struggling to remember the characters properly.
My favourite characters so far would Caelum, Amelia, and the MC himself, Slifer. MCs are usually just meh in most stories I have read (they are exceptions though, especially as I read more and more stories on Royal Road) My least favourite character is probably Hughie and that's mainly because of his loyalty. If an old man wants to hold your hand, YOU LET HIM!
Overraching Plot-wise, I would say the seeds are still being sowed. No major beats have really happened yet which I am actually fine with. The current style and flow is quite addicting. Even the additional chapters on the Patreon aren't enough anymore. Sometimes I just want to go to sleep so that the next chapter comes sooner.
I actually don't think I have any negatives. The worst I can come up with is the POV switches that happen during a chapter might throw someone for a loop. Usually other stories' chapters stick to one POV or have explicit cuts to show POV changes, this story is more of a third person omniscient story. One sentence, you are reading from the MCs point of view, a few sentences later, it might be from another person's POV without any explicit indication. It's easy to get used too though and it adds to the humor. It allows us to see how other cha

The story of a character who reincarnates as a grandpa on the brink of death, the journey to accumulate karmic points for recovery unfolds seamlessly. Personally, I find it engaging—the consistent release dates and good chapter lengths enhance the reading experience. I recommend giving this story a read if you like cultivation stories.

I binged the entire thing so far and it is one of the better Xianxia novels I've read. And I've read a lot of xianxia novels. The main character gets up to some hilarious hijinks as he pretends to be a wise old cultivator that he really really isn't. Add in the characters awareness of xianxia tropes and the fact he has to teach his own murderous disciples and its a wild ride. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book and am adding this to my favorites.

At first I dropped this momentarily for having a tad too much meta-commentary but I think I like it a tiny bit more than Demonic Sect Elder, Type A since this elder kicks more ass and I like the characters here more. This story and Kismet's are filling the void in my dantian left by Fizzicks canceling A Sect Elder's Journey.
The evil disciples are a blast to read, and I'm going to be a bit sad when they turn righteous but hopefully, they retain some of their mischievous traits when they turn to the other side, having plans for character development is also always good to see.

Very much liking the story so far. The MC is rather pathetic and pushed around by the system in chapters so far. It's a hard balance between this being a key part of LitRPG in the beginning and also wanting more from MC. Glad to see the character becoming for active in the last few chapters, also like that we are briefly following story of side characters/disciples.
