- Vainglory_Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story started strong, felt like it came to be a bit weaker as it got things introduced and rolling, and has now settled into that nice part where you know and enjoy the characters. I enjoy that despite having "cheat abilities" through the system and other advantages, most gains still feel earned in one way or another and the stakes feel real.
- johnpoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0so far everything is good( 13th chap). review now will NG (no good). western MC in chinese xianxia world with a system plot. he is a demonic cultivator but unable to do any demonic act due to system. he struggles to save his own life. this story is just like ALL MY DISCIPLES ARE VILLAINS novel plot.
- iwantedauniquenameRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This has just enough meat to distract me from questionable questing. I am unexpectedly invested in the development of two disciples specifically, how they rekindle their links to their past and discover the tenderness of life. I belive the author has touched gold here. Kepp it up man, I wish I was as good as you.
- FogWizard159Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I binged the entire thing so far and it is one of the better Xianxia novels I've read. And I've read a lot of xianxia novels. The main character gets up to some hilarious hijinks as he pretends to be a wise old cultivator that he really really isn't. Add in the characters awareness of xianxia tropes and the fact he has to teach his own murderous disciples and its a wild ride. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book and am adding this to my favorites.
- HaveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Its a story about a human from earth who unfortunately has been transported in probably the most notorious demonic elder in the sect. Troubles? Plenty, and its been interesting to see him use the great dao of bs to baffle his way through everything. Really good read hopefully more chapters coming
- KristiMadhuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0At first I dropped this momentarily for having a tad too much meta-commentary but I think I like it a tiny bit more than Demonic Sect Elder, Type A since this elder kicks more ass and I like the characters here more. This story and Kismet's are filling the void in my dantian left by Fizzicks canceling A Sect Elder's Journey.
The evil disciples are a blast to read, and I'm going to be a bit sad when they turn righteous but hopefully, they retain some of their mischievous traits when they turn to the other side, having plans for character development is also always good to see. - Lord AdamRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Prepare some chips and drinks for the weekend and enjoy yourself because you're in for a ride of laughter. Being an angel among sheep is what I do because of the system. The system's design is colorful, which is something I appreciate. The comedy is enjoyable. All in all, I like it.
- MortimusWasHereRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I opened this in a new tab about 6 months ago as a referral from another story I was reading, but didn't actually get round to reading it until recently.
And am I glad I did. Waiting so long to read it (because I admittedly wasn't grabbed by the title or the blurb) just meant that I had so much more to binge! The story is well written and engaging, the pacing is good and the comedy elements are well done.
It's been a fun ride so far and it's definitely a story I'll keep coming back to for more! - vastowen456Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love this so far. Hope you keep it up.
Personally I enjoy being thrown into the deep end with little info and having to work it out... Which this story isn't even really doing (at least not as much as I've seen in others) so I'm not complaining that there's no info dumps.
Looking at you, that one RR novel with an infinite number of inconsequential "meeting" type interludes with characters you've never seen before and never will again. (Or they were so forgettable, I forgot by the time they showed up again.)
Great work, keep it up. - DefectivebyDesignRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Story is good. There isn't a problem with "full context", that's clearly a plot point consequence of reincarnating with faulty memories, which the main character has to deal with in entertaining ways. I do NOT enjoy info dump word salad filler that has no importance on the story. If I'm interpreting correct, chekovs gun refers to actually using what you write about, which info dump garbage does not respect. A good story shows, not tells.
If you really want a interesting take, there's another web novel out there with a similar premise, completed, around 1k chapters. This novel is better, but it doesn't have the length.
Stephen King really is an anomaly for content, that video of him talking to Martin was great. More people should write like King, but then they end up a Martin.
