Nice world building
Nice characters
Nice development, always something going on
MC always in trouble 😵💫 There is a good mixture of cultivation and system. We get space traveling, monster hunting, survival, it has got it all.
Overall I highly recommend it.. - ArgonautJasonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Zac is a simple guy, simply living his life. Then he has to try and compete with geniuses who have "affinities" and "legacies" and who do things like "cultivate" and "think".
No, there's nothing else to say; why would you think that? You must be a genius.
Style: Solid. Well-written, not superfluous, but not understated. A good amount of descriptions with enough details for you to form a mental picture of, but not too verbose so you get a 4 page long description of a feast.
Story: Great. I keep looking forward to what natural treasure he's going to eat next. And luck is an interesting concept in this story: it mostly revolves around him getting marginally better opportunities than other people, which is a good way of interpreting it.
Grammar: Excellent. I can't remember the last time I was thrown out of thinking about the story because the grammar was bad.
Character: Well defined. MC is a simple guy, which isn't bad, and the side characters around him are solid and add well to the story. Zac's love interests are a little... off? I think the timeskip has muddled my perception of who he's interested in and how he feels about them. His current bae is... not who I would have expected? But hey, I shouldn't be judging. - Crown RoyalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is my current favorite story on this site.
This is an apocalypse litrpg type story, although the explanation for "the system" is a bit unique and doesnt come up fully until after at least 60 chapters.
I really like the mc and many of the supporting characters. The writing is very well done and there are few enough mistakes to not detract from my enjoyment. The plot is well done, generally exciting, and the mc is fairly logical and consistent.
The author is very consistent and produces a chapter almost every day. I think they take sundays off.
I encourage any who haven't read this, who like this type of story, to give it a go. - KnightfireRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Interesting story so far. Hopefully it maintains its momentum as some stories lose it after the first arc is done and the main hero meets society again.
- Naotsugu-97Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This series is truly one of the best. It will say this review is posted at chapter 760, but the truth is that I swapped over to Patreon and made this only the second series I spend money as a Patreon on! What pushes this series ahead of its competition? Read on!
Style. The author does a good job of pacing, maintaining POV, and transitions are generally well thought out and easy to follow. There are few instances where the reader is left going "wait, what happened?" because of jarring plot transitions.
Story. This story is not screamingly original, groundbreaking or anything else. What sets it apart is the universe building depth. What starts out as a run of the mill system apocalypse/litrpg/cultivation story quickly differentiates itself as the author doesn't just build a world, but an entire universe that has backstories, in depth characters, and does a pretty decent job of explaining what the whole "system" is! Really I think it's one of the best, most well developed stories out there. Think of some of the best fantasy authors and their world building. Tolkien, Martin, McCaffery. That level of world building.
Grammar. Okay, better than most. Remember, this is RR. There is a bump up from Patreon to RR, then another bump to Amazon. This is common in the industry. Don't expect mistake free here. However, the most offensive and egregious grammar mistakes are not present. The author is a solid writer from a grammar nitpickers perspective. (At least this one grammar nitpicker!)
Character. The MC is generally pretty dang awesome. Yes there is definitely OP foreshadowing going on, yet it is offset by the MC willingness to put in effort and hard work. And also to realize that rushing blindly ahead can be damaging, so he stops and works on polishing his fundamental foundations from time to time. This can be frustrating for some readers who like action. Because to those readers, the arcs where Zac is cultivating are boring. However, any reader who has progressed irl beyond l - Thirteen Life LegionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you like stories by the Chinese author I Eat Tomatoes (Coiling Dragon, Desolate Era, Swallowed Star, etc.) and game mechanics in your stories, this is the novel for you.
It has all the same strengths as a typical I Eat Tomatoes work--fun action, great worldbuilding, investment in the main character--and all the same weaknesses--relatively weak but thankfully non-harem romance and the main character overpowering his peers to the point teamwork isn't that important along with an ever growing power scale with no end in sight. And the game mechanics are also good and internally consistent.
I love I Eat Tomatoes works and I love game mechanics, so I love this story. - nrsearcyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall:
As far as I'm concerned, this story is one of the best representations of the genre. It's not too crunchy with the numbers, but they do seem to matter. The skills are fun, and the progression is slow enough that it feels rewarding when Zac gets a power up. It gets better and more interesting the longer you read, which I love.
Style:
The style isn't flashy, but other than a few strange syntax choices (like when the author says something along the lines of "the face of Zac" when "Zac's face" would sound so much better) and a few words that become crutches for the author, it's perfectly fine. That lets the story shine through.
Grammer:
Not a ton of noticeable mistakes.
Story:
It's a good example of constantly escalating power and an overpowered hero who has to consistently fight more against more powerful enemies. Not heavy on the romance, instead focusing on the more action- or cultivation-heavy parts of the story.
Character:
Probably the weakest part of this story. Zac's a bit bland, but I think that's intentional because he's meant as a bit of a reader insert. Ogras is awesome, and I really like some of the character introduced in the latter part of the story. All in all, it's the weakest part, but it's still pretty good. - realitybendRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The strong, engaging story drives this work, and the writing doesn't detract from it like on so many web novels. I appreciate the work you put into this, and love the steady but not unbelievable growth the MC experiences.
- InsanjaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Couldn't stop reading and finished all 501 chapters up to this point in about a week.
The balance between an overpowered and a struggeling main character is just perfect, while the main character keeps getting stronger, stronger challenges keep appearing without appearing out of nothing.
The world building is pretty good, very rarely I had the feeling it was too detailed or not detailed enough. I had the feeling the author had a good overview and the story didn't contradict itself much so far.
As for the characters, there are quite a few noteable characters. Even though I read the story in a pretty small timeframe I had problems remembering some of the minor characters names. Some only appear for a short time and re-appear after quite some time without a reintroduction, making it somewhat confusing. But in genral all important characters have a detailed backstory and are introduced nicely.
Grammar wise I can't really give an accurate feedback, as I'm not a native but it still was easy to read. Some words felt a bit repetetive as for example it felt like he was roaring every chapter, but it didn't feel like it was too much.
All in all definitly a recommendation to give this novel a try. - Lorraine VRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Tossed in a hard situation, MC survives
I am enjoying the tale
