Description

Note: This is not a "Choose Your Own Adventure" product, nor is it a reader participation fiction. ‘A Rounding Error has Occurred. Please Choose Your Apocalypse as Compensation.’ Choose Your Apocalypse: Apology Tutorialthrows Alex Johnson—a home-based IT worker—into a brutal, LitRPG Apocalypse. Now, Alex gets to design his end-of-days. Like choosing wallpaper for his own personal inferno.Joy… Enemies? Skill tree? Potentially helpful or annoying sidekicks? All (semi-)customizable! Or, he could go it alone, which, let's be honest, probably won't end well. Of course, because the universe is cruel and capricious, there are hidden forces at play. Uninvited and unwelcome, they seek to control his fate. So, Alex is going to be fighting uphill, against the odds—and probably some interdimensional middle managers—from the word "go". Wish him luck, because he’s going to need it. This fiction contains violence and tense situations. It will reference adult topics but will not contain sex scenes nor overt delves into 'sex/sexuality after the fall.' It will not contain MC romance anytime soon, if ever. I have roughly plotted the first three books and expect there to be many more. I do hope you enjoy this tale, but let me know what you think either way! Critique, both positive and negative, is welcome. Release schedule is weekly: Tues & Thurs Average Chapter Length: 2,000 - 2,500 words, biased high Thank you for your time and for giving this story a try. Cover Image by: Liam T. Mitchell

Really good book. I like the premise and the imagination cut scenes. The side characters are getting a good amount of attention and even though there’s only been a few chapters everyone is getting really fleshed out. I’m excited to see how it grows and changes and if any more supervisor type characters get involved.

Reviewed at chapter 51 (beta reader)I am a big fan of the LitRPG genre, but stories in it have always been hit or miss for me. Choose Your Apocalypse is a hit and a half. It is difficult to design a world with a System that feels organic, while also having passable story. The author manages this splendidly. The System is well-designed and interacts organically with the worlds (yes, plural) in it, striking a balance I don't think I've ever seen a LitRPG manage before. I find I hardly need to suspend my disbelief to enjoy exploring these Apocalypses with the main character. The stylistic choices the author made for this novel complement the main character's point of view and, by extension, the whole story splendidly. The novel has a distinct Hitchhiker's Guide vibe, and I love it for that. The main character, Alex, himself is a 'normal' modern guy thrown into all of this, with the world as we know it just spontaneously ending, but from the beginning you also understand that he is also maybe just weird enough to survive.A good supporting cast of characters certainly helps with exploring the theme as well as pushing Alex to grow and develop, with good pacing and a deeply nuanced magic system that is explored organically as we go along, with interesting subplots in a "fun" Apocalyptic environment is a set-up for a great time.I certainly can't wait to read more and see where the story and the characters go, and I'm happy to be here from the very start, as it is, in my opinion, squaring up to be one of the best novels in the genre.

This is refreshing, the MC starts off with a much more realistic, human set of reactions and limitations than the vast majority of MCs with modern, peaceful origins. There's definitely some over thinking of combat situations and a lack of situational awareness. Even his feelings about his pre-apocalypse job are much more typical than most authors attempt.
The alternate / planning moments are an interesting way to show the contrast of when a plan smashes against reality. I personally would like them to be shorter -- it distracts me from the "real" pacing when the imagined scenario is more than a few sentences, FWIW.
There are a lot of nice little touches that add to the sense of authenticity, despite the intentionally artificial situation. Of course you should be able to improve wound healing with mundane interventions. Of course ammunition supply is an important thing to consider.

A well thought out and well written system apocalypse story with elements of humor. The team aspects are balanced with enough pov to give perspective without shifting the overall narrative. The interaction with the system are interesting and the overseer characters are something I've rarely seen and is well executed. I would recommend this to anyone who like system stories.

And he does it yet again. He can't keep getting away with this! Releasing another progression based story with a relatable character who is genuinely likable. I will continue to sing (off key and out of tune, sure, but still sung) this man's praises where ever I can. He effortlessly weaves pop culture references into his works, giving whatever he writes excellent rereadability. Highly recommend everything he writes. My only critique is that there aren't already more chapters, but hey, time travel has yet to be invented.

This story is a classic LitRPG apocalypse in many ways: a sword-wielding hero, a strong supporting cast, and none of the usual edgelord tropes. The writing is far better than most web novels, though I do wish the system watchers were less involved and shrouded in deeper, more compelling mystery to enrich the world further.

It's early days, sure, but the story shows humor and hints at a huge world waiting to be unveiled piece by piece. It's well-written with an interesting main character and tantalizing world-building clearly sitting just behind the scenes.Already, I find myself counting the days 'til the next chapter comes out.

The worldbuilding feels fresh, the System actually makes sense, and everything fits together in a way that feels natural, not forced. It’s rare to find a story where the mechanics of the world don’t distract from the plot but actually enhance it. This one pulls it off.The main character is this regular guy tossed into chaos, the supporting cast is solid, the pacing keeps things moving, and the magic system is revealed in a way that keeps you curious without info-dumping.

If only my best was half as good as this authors!  The slow reveal and small hints scattered through the MCs inner dialogues keep me anxiously awaiting the next installment. There’s so much that the author is holding back that it must hurt!
And one you get there, the subtle snark of the pin will have you hooked and waiting for the next installment too!

I am thoroughly enjoying this so far. Alex seems like a decent protagonist so far with his smart choice of apocalypse and his subsequent actions in the tutorial. Let's hope it doesn't come back to bite him later. Can't wait to get much further in to see how it all unfolds.
