Description
Penelope Mercer was a renowned theoretical physicist, and a hobbyist engineer. Notorious for being difficult to handle, she's been blacklisted by the scientific community and fired from multiple labs that continue to develop her work on faster than light (FTL) propulsion. Desperate to continue working on her ideas, she turns to the Sol Navy, the largest contributor to research funding on the topic. While the Navy does have a research arm, Penelope knows they would never accept her and she had no interest sitting in a corner shuffling paperwork, so she enlists. How will she react when she finds more than empty space and bureaucracy? (volume notes below)

- EvelynneTheGreyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good content I enjoy the science bits as it does enough to explain it without going overboard I've been enjoying just how alive the characters feel! Well put together and an interesting plot so far!
I did notice a handful of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors however not once did they take out out of the reading groove so I think they are easily forgivable and ignorable. - RovingmindRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have read up to chapter 24. There has not been writing or grammatical errors that I have noticed. Overall this has been an enjoyable story. One warning for other readers, it is a slow buildup to the "litrpg" elements.
It does go into science a bit without going overboard into definitions. I' m looking forward to seeing what merc does with her chosen path. - MofolodoRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Loved the story the LITRPG is done well a bit to much back and forth with the relationships but that's just my personal opinion they are well done at book 3.
would love some more crafting and empire building maybe some vampfae baby's?. If you like those ofcourse if you don't like them ideas that's fine don't change you direction just for me or others I'll read regardless - mythloving99Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5This was an Enjoyable Read; espicially if you approach it with the mindset of reading a seemingly talented writer who has interesting ideas, a vidid imagination and the ability to create and convey interseting characters, but hasn't yet nailed the execution and prose to make the story seamless.
Story: One of the strong points of the novel, and the synopsis and other reviews do a good job explaining it. It should be noted the story has a tendency toward kingdom building themes, and the story tends to be more about the main characters inventing things and using those inventions after integrating with a system and all that entails instead of a more action/violence/'numbers go up' focus of stories like Primal Hunter or Azarinth Healer. If you have ever read and enjoyed series like Ell Donsaii, you will likely enjoy this novel.
One of the strong points I noticed while reading is the attempt to create logical explanations to support most of the technology and fantastical concepts. It is Science-Fiction and Fantasy and therefore doesn't need to be fully grounded in readlity. But the author puts some effort in making the fantastical elements of the story seem at least potentially possible and logical, even if they are astronomically unlikely.
This is one of those stories where experiencing and disconvering things in the book with the main character is important to the enjoyment so I won't go into detail about plot points or technology. I think the most important thing to be said for the story is that even for someone like myself who spends an unhealthy amount of time on Kindle Unlimted, RoyalRoad and other web novel platforms it was a refreshingly new approach to a litRPG introduction to earth, with comptent main characters.
Grammer: Its not flawless, but the few mistakes I saw didn't really interupt the reading experience which is good enough for a first draft put on the internet for free.
Character: Again, don't misinterpret some mild criticism I have about how characters - ColscimitarRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall enjoying the story pretty well, certain aspects not really my cup of tea but overall definitely leaves me wanting more. Generally not a big fan too much of stories with harem aspects, they can tend to be hit or miss but for the most part. However in the case of the story just not big into how weird and confusing the relationships are, just personally don't enjoy the heavy drama of the relationships. Despite this still can't wait for more story.
- YsoldeRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I really enjoyed the start of this series it had a hard science feel with a realistic view of a burgeoning space navy. The protagonist was interesting, and the side characters were quite fun. If anyone wanted a hard sci-fi feeling naval book this one could have been it and then everything changed. It went from what it was to just another OP MC in a Lit-RPG system. The writing is still good, the spelling and grammar are still great but it's just not the same thing I started reading anymore. Sorry to say I likely won't finish the rest of the series.
