While the author doesn't post nearly often enough to satisfy us (the greedy readers), this story is one of the best here on Royal road. The author does not spend a great deal of time being explicit in explaining how he's building the world and leaves it up to us to figure things out as the main character does. Perhaps the thing I love most is how the author ensures consequences exist for decisions made by his characters with death being a real possibility for improperly made choices.

I would highly recommend this novel to people who enjoy the slow grind.

First off, this review system is silly. I made an account just to review this and it had the gall to bar me from doing so because it couldn't understand I already read the thing!
Back to the review, this is one of the few pieces on Royal Road that I really actually consider enthralling. As much as I want the story to continue, I feel like it's charm lies in how tight the storytelling is.
It's not loose or meandering, it doesn't lose it's focus and as of chapter 20, it ends on a fantastic note.
If Rinoz continues, I think he should definitely consider keeping this dense, enthralling story telling. Focusing on major events instead letting things slip and stumble or meander as many authors do. Maybe even consider some time skips down the line?
Thanks for the read! I loved it!

Book of the dead is a necromancer story unlike so many others, the magic is complex and not cast effortlessly, the author is putting great effort into developing the personalities as well which really pays off for the readers. The grammar and language used are excellent, there are zero disruptions to the reading flow, neither language nor content wise.
As the story is still in it's initial phase it's impossible to know how it will progress, but from what I have read so far and considering how RinoZ's other Story  Chrysalis has developed I am certain that I will be able to add this story to my all time favorites, not only because of the grammar, language, smooth writing style, intricate world building, interesting characters, exciting world and dark themes but also because of the content that the story itself will have.
(Because I have seen multiple comments and reviews mentioning that the POV jumps are a negative, I want to add that I really love it when the author gives us another perspective, especially when there is variety and I see this as a definite plus for the story.)

"Rinoz's 'Book of the Dead' presents a vast and mysterious world, immersing readers in its depths. Tiron, the protagonist, navigates this realm with decisions that carry significant weight, adding a palpable tension to the narrative. The writing skillfully conveys the hot breath of his pursuers, creating a relentless sense of urgency on every page. Witnessing Tiron's evolution is fascinating; his character development is intricately portrayed as he grows in power and engages in Faustian deals. This compelling journey showcases his complex transformation, making 'Book of the Dead' a riveting and thought-provoking read."

Book of the dead is an excellent example of a great light novel.
It has depth, the world is well built, and it doesn't drone on a single character leveling up but put the accent on secondary characters, even on antagonists!
The story is interesting and well written. Plus the characters are attaching and will make you cackle more than once.
There's nothing to dislike in the work of RinoZ.
    Bravo

I found this through Chrysalis. I love both stories immensely, and I made this account about five minutes ago specifically to give you encouragement about continuing this story. I love necromancers.
I love Chrysalis, and can't wait for more chapters, but I love this as well and am eager for more.

The story is promising so far, the world is a standard fantasy LitRPG setting with semi randomized starting classes with an added mix of multiple god factions that seemingly have a propensity for meddling. The MC seems meek but has a prideful and ambitious self hidden just beneath the surface and the class system looks great.
I have a weakness for Necromancer's or just Undead stories in general so it would not take much for me to fall in love with a story in that genre. I just love that these stories usually come with kingdom building / army management to complement the power fantasy. I also love seeing enemies turned into undead and made to fight their allies. I'm just gonna preemptively give this 5 stars.
I love you Gandalf and I hope you don't eventually drop this.

Lovely book, enjoying the read on patreon and it's lovely to see how the writing quality of the author has improved since the start of chrysalis!
The character feels real, as relatable as a fantasy character can be. He also makes decisions which feel justifiable and logical. I love how he builds the world with different pov's

RinoZ is writing Chrysalis which remains one of my favorite books, book of the dead blew that one out of the water in some ways.
Seriously amazing book and is easily in my top 10.
I have no complaints of the story itself and had read of others mostly disagreeing with our Mc's choices but i think most fail to mention that through the veil of a well centered and capable mage that Tyron is lies the broken husk of a teenager with some serious trauma from events that happen in book
