Description

Kobolds cower at the bottom of the foodchain, forced to eke out a meager existence in the most wretched of caves.

Most have made peace with their lot in life; one of eating scraps and carrion. They hide and run from predators, delaying the inevitable day when they aren't fast or sneaky enough to make their escape.

But not Samazzar.  Sam is different from other Kobold pups.  Traps and caves might keep him and his people alive, but sometimes, just living isn't enough.  The blood of dragons pumps through his veins, and Sam isn't willing to settle for mere survival.  Whether by claw, magic, or cunning, one day he will soar above the plains, predator rather than prey. And nothing, be it the mockery of his tribe, the hazards of the deep caves, or even the almost insurmountable difficulty of successfully evolving his bloodline, nothing is going to stop him.

Join Samazzar and his boundless optimism on his quest to throw off the shackles placed on his tiny scaled body by fate so that he can claim his birthright once and for all.

This is an excellent story! There's an immediate sense of Samazzar's personality, wants, goals, and obstacles, and the characters building in around him are also defining themselves nicely. The story is starting to pick up, and I'm excited for them getting to leave the cave and explore the outside world. The magic is fascinating to read about and gives an emotional depth to just how far he'll have to go to reach dragon if he's only this far now. If I had any complaints, they're mostly superficial - such as Samazzar being called Sam, an extremely modern/Earth name - but otherwise, this story is excellent and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.

An incredibly engaging tale of how a young kobold wishes to ascend to what he feels he was meant to be— a dragon. Both the dialogue and the worldbuilding are balanced in a refreshing take on a pre-existing genre. The conversations are fluid, and the scenes are portrayed elegantly, and the action is handled well. Read this if you are interested in following a zero to hero tale.

Honestly love this series, really enjoying the different take on a lot of genre staples. Great evolution progression and really interesting magic system so far! I find its the first series that I check to see each week if there's another chapter (having read a ton of staples). Like every reader ever I wish there was more released! But honestly can't wait to see where this one goes!
So far I've been impressed by the charaterisation of the Kobold Race and their tribe dynamics and its clear that the characters themselves are developing as they grow older and evolve. As far as judging the story so far its hard because there are so many different ways the characters could choose to go, and I'm eager to see what awaits them.
If you're looking for a non-human MC to scratch that itch, then I highly recommend this story, the different perspective offered is fascinating and seeing how each character reacts to different situations is a delight because of this.
In terms of story so far, there is a clear end goal, and a couple of milestones that are clear along the way. Definitely a slice of life style fiction though I imagine the MC will encounter bigger events once they get out into the world properly (or maybe even become one?). Though I have to say it is great to see the fate of the world not being at stake (at least so far).

Honestly havnt even started reading yet..... but from the synaps he is a kobold that wants to evolve into a dragon? I got that right ? Right? So why in all of gods tarnations is there an attractive mc tag? Unless he becomes human?  But if that is the case, why? I mean i could get it if he was a human reincarnate but he isnt... so i hope he dosnt become human, there are just too many non mc novels where the mc works towrds becoming a human and usually does so within 20 chapters like it is so pointless. Any soz about that rant looking forward to the novel.... unless he is a hot kobold? By kobold standards i mean.... author got yhat weird kobold fetish? I aint judging

Story is well put together and flows very concisely.
Characterization is well done without walls of text making the Ole eyeballs bleed. Most of it is done via indirect characterization and done via dialog, which I enjoy.
Plot is decent and holds together well so far and shows promise of an enjoyable story.
Main character shows that they use mind/cleverness to overcome obstacles. Though the utilization is rather blatantly set up (i.e. bad air lesson directly ties to using bad air to suffocate an opponent).
However tension is still handled well and used appropriately. Even though I was expecting a confrontation I was surprised and interested at the enemy presented and the enemy was presented in such a manner as to both present a clear threat, a clear reason why that threat was there and was able to drive home how the MC is starting off at quite literally the lowest position in the food chain.
The story has a consistent goal and setting that is established. The small view of the society we have shows plenty of opportunities for an interesting and well rounded character base.
In final chapters (11? I believe, the one where the adults prove to be less than helpful) we see a good example of manipulation and the societal machine in play.
Characters that we think of as honest and upright are given a shadow of being something else and show they all have their own goals as characters all seem to have their own goals and intents.
Death is handled well and professionally. It exists. It's used to further show character development, and it isn't lamented to much over. Well done so far but no major characters have died or suffered yet, so I have yet to see how the author handles an important person to the MC die yet, even though there are plenty of hints as who's going to die first. I fully expect it to not be the current (as of Chapter 11? 10may2021) expected character, but hey that could be me just expecting a twist that isn't necessary because everyone seems to think you need t

A wonderfully written and world built story filled with in-depth quirky loveable characters. The story is fairly paced and the characters feel consistent while still undergoing growth. The 'system' (if you can call it that as a litRPG) is unique and extremely fun, in addition it doesn't feel like one that's being made up as the author goes, but instead feels like it was sat and planned from the very start. I highly recommend this novel, and the majority of CoCo's other works, to anyone looking for a good, unique, time.

There's only two chapters so far (I am terrible and don't have access to advanced stuff), but so far I'm liking this story.
We're told the legendary background of the Kobold Race, their position in the world, and we see the spark - the call to adventure - in what I presume to be the main character.
We also get a lesson on how the magic system works, and get an idea or two on kobold society in general, although the latter is more extrapolation than anything else.
The magic system is given as an infodump, but it makes sense since it's the character being taught magic. Or the leadup to it.
I am looking forward to seeing where this goes - the heroes journey is of course the likely path, but that's just the grand framework. A house, a factory, a mud palace, and an arcology are all buildings, after all.
I am told there will be a scene with otters, too.

Love the magic system. It's truly unique in it's portrayal of magic as a greater understanding and mastery of natural phenomenon...that does sound like loads of others, but the way it's done is just different an better. Most notably the quest to grow more powerful comes with difficulties that make the rewards seem so satisfying. After reading a bunch of progression fantasies on this site I can say this really scratches that itch the way very few others do.
Second, this is just a solid fantasy adventure. Characters are 3D with traits and flaws that make them endearing, funny, and worth rooting for. The world has some nuance and complexity, that seems to grow the more we read.
Very excited to see where this goes, and think everyone should give it a try!

When this fell off a cliff a while back I was gently disappointed but it's returned as engaging as ever, moving from personal growth and world building to all-up kingdom development with a fun cast and an obligingly oblivious main lead whose utter inability to grasp that he's not a dragon (yet) has apparently managed to convince the world itself to fall in line - much to the fond irritation of everyone since him.
Also, the 'my girlfriend goes to another school, you wouldn't know her' thing he's got going on is fantastic.

Really good idea, starting with the littlest of little guys and delivering a unique progression story where nothing is given to the protagonist. He works hard for each of his achievements in a world that is well developed and clearly defined.
Whenever I look at my followed stories I hope this one is updated!
