Description
Some monsters are born. Others are chosen. Mirela was meant to be a saint, but her birth was cursed. Born a vampire beneath the shadow of prophecy, she never knew her blood carried both miracle and abomination. She only ever wanted to survive. On her eighteenth birthday, the divine Catalyst awakens her class and reveals a truth that could tear the world apart. Hunted, betrayed, and torn between the call of sainthood and the hunger in her veins, Mirela must decide what her power is worth. Blood and divinity were never meant to mix. In her hands, both may save the world… or end it. Current Release Schedule is Monday / Thursday at ~6pm CDT/UTC-6 Artwork by Wolf: https://www.artstation.com/wolfjaws

Worth the read, worth the time. Absolutely wonderful characters, absolutely wonderful story so far, interesting plot twists all around, and one of the best vampire character designs I've ever seen.
- 104104105fviRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's realy good. The story is excellent and the characters feel real and I really enjoyed reading it, unlike many stories that fail by making the good guys and the bad guys into a cliché in the sense that the vampires play the role of the bad guys for example or think they are the bad guys but they are just like everyone else only different. The roles here are more subtle, yes they are carnivores, yes their diet is blood, and as a rule they see humans as inferior, but they are believable - as I would expect people with different powers and species to behave, in a smart and humane and complex way - not one size fits all
My only significant problem with the story is that some of it is too easy and too convenient - not that there are no difficulties but they are not made in such a way that they seem to really interfere with the writer, despite the heroine's dramatic mistakes, there are little consequences that harm the plot, for example spoiler!
She is thirsty in the city - and fortunately robbers come to be her meal, it is possible, but completely unlikely. She is about to free herself from captivity, and just then all the warriors on the ship are devoured by magical creatures they are defenseless against. She inexplicably meets her fiancé relatively shortly before it becomes clear to both of them that they must get married. Not everything is plausible when you consider it all together. A more subtle example is that she looks extremely similar to her mother even though she didn't finish her embryos normally and she is also a vampire.
It just all works out too well and it bothers me. Still worth reading. - DKArthas23Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think at this point, it's possible to give a fair review without too much spoilers. It's a well-written story with a somewhat convoluted plot but that's kinda like a classic for vampire stories so I don't mind it too much. The Heroine is cool enough with a lot of opportunity for character development. On another plus side, the litrpg nonsense has also been kept on the down low and there aren't too many meaningless numbers. Overall, it's well worth a read!
There is just one very important element missing. Something that's the essence of vampire stories; Love triangles! You can't just have a entitled nice guy with feudalistic characteristics trying to rizz up the heroine without the bad boy rival. It's just not how it works! It's outrageous! It's unfair! Some readers may well like this though as it streamlines things and removes something that people may well find annoying. - Harb88Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is one of the best stories on here. The characters are fabulously well written. The magic system is well done and not overbearing. The world building is great and the story is up and down like a rollercoaster. Cannot recommend this one more. So far there has not been a dull moment and I can't wait to keep reading more.
- HatlessglueRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well I didn’t see that coming but holy moly this book has to be way up there with the fallen lands trio as a “bloody” masterpiece. Bad puns aside I can’t wait for more and wish you so much success with this book as your others have done. 10/10 will continue to read.
- HikinBearRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I wasn’t sure on this as I normally avoid both the Horror genre and the Teen Angst genres and didn’t hold much hope. I was pleasantly surprised by an interesting take on Vampires and a Main Character you can emphasize with. The tie in with religion as a Saintess is an interesting hook and I can see a great story.
The story so far is developing the Main Character, Mirela, who is half of a ‘Fated Pair’ that was foretold to fight the ‘Dark Power’ before they were even born. Tragically, the MC’s parents were captured by a Master Vampire to turn them. He failed and the parents died, but the unborn child lived as a vampire herself.
The style first person and consistant. The Grammar, overall, is very good. The pacing is also very good. There is action, but most of the story is character development.
The characters are where the story shines. The MC, who grew up in a castle with no others her age, is emotionally distant and fascinated by ‘Humans’ who were simply ‘food’. The other characters are set up well and we watch as the MC comes to terms with meeting other people.
I like this very much and is highly recommended! - KennosukeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great story with a believable romance and interesting twists that subvert many of the established tropes that were all accustomed to from the genre. Writing is great, dialogue is entertaining, and it doesn't wallow in misery or trauma.
So far I've been pleased to see that when things feel off for a while, it eventually turns out there's a reasonable explanation revealed further on, which is a refreshing change from the oftentimes predictability of fantasy stories on Royal Road.
Plus it has vampires. I mean, come on! That should be enough to pique anyone's interest. - LedaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This one's got it all - good writing, vampires, anti-hero mc (who is the titular blood sovereign) who's not afraid to kill, really great romance with actual chemistry between the protagonist and her love interest, and no multiple POVs (with one exception, but that one is really justified).
Also, regarding the romance thing again - some people say it feels forced/quick, but I'd argue that this is one of the only times I've ever read a book where it actually didn't feel that way, was woven into the narrative and didn't seem like something the author just tacked on. - MildlyAggravatedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So I'd like to give a super in depth review but, Im very drunk so you'll just need to read me ramble for a bit, if you care.
So! I really dig this story, now I'm a rabid yuri enthuseist so given that the relationship is pretty not that you can be safe to assume the love intrest makes sense and is rather intresting in their own way. From the meeting to the reveil, the story of the character remains intresting. In fact today while I was swaping the carb on my old ass jalopy I kepting checking the day so I made sure I wasn't missing a new post!
I loved the fallen lands, so when this came out, I was still ecited because C.Peinhopf got that, I dunno the right term, somthin that I need. An its not even part of the same story!
The start is probs my fav but mostly becuase I want to see this dynamic with the MC and the forest and her "father" more. Its intresting, and I'm very hype to see what happens when our young vampire returns home.
I love that dispite the obvious dissonence with human society the MC still while seeming normal manages to maintain a centain amount of aloofness or slight cruelty within. A very intresting combanation where she cares about family and even her team mates but doesn't seem to really spread the same Idea that all people are worth something and anyone not in her group is just food more or less. I can tell that the character has a since of justice but its so similar but so alien that it keeps me engaged with what she might do next.
You could almost call her Lawful Evil, but I dont think shes really paying that much attention to the law.
Anyway, I hope my drunken rambling was readable and I hope you choose to read this story! - NyaalmaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's good.
My issue is like, the whole plot was the MC being kidnapped instantly to point B and then taking weeks to get back to point A. That just doesn't sit right with me.
And, like, ew, straight people (/half joking). There was potential for vampire yuri. Erm I mean what.
Yeah I have no issues. Despite the plot being that way and despite the straight people it has been good.
I don't like that the father can mind control. It's a plot point that just icks me so much. I get that everything can't be easy but eugh.
I don't know what's going on with the spacing but it's weird. Paragraphs aren't cleanly pasted and have the extra space between, while dialogue is usually clumped closer together without that extra space. It looks messy.
Like dang it's almost flawless (no pressure, author)!
The whole thing about being a shunned vampire and yet also a saint is awesome.
Thank you for writing and sharing!
