Book 1 and 2 stubbed and now on Kindle and Audible(Kindle link~Audible link)~
John, a vampire living for near six thousand years, has gone by many names in his long life. Warrior, king, god – he’s done and seen it all. He may look very young, but he is by far the oldest of the vampires, the pinnacle of power on Earth. Such great age can also be a curse, as his mind has not kept up with the regeneration of his body, and he now struggles to even remember his own name.
That is until powerful beings called the ascended come to Earth and remove a shield blocking our solar system from the Tree of Life. John is healed, and his mind restored, and he feels as fresh as the day he was turned so long ago, and he is ready to learn this new way of gaining power, this self-cultivation, and defend his world. But he’s no longer the apex predator and the top of the heap. A high ascended wants his head, and armies of demons, dark ones, and g’athu stand in his path.
John has accumulated many skills throughout his life, and with the NCS giving him knowledge and guidance on the ways and techniques of self-cultivation, will he earn the might needed to fight back? Joined by the strange and beautiful Amber, a woman as extraordinary as any vampire, the source of many old tales herself, John will find out.
It’s a race for survival, and if humans manage to endure the current invasion, their only prize will be a far deadlier one.
Vampires are unknown throughout the many universes, could John and his kin the reason Earth was kept from the Tree of Life?

- WhitemanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Goated book wood recommend the author writes really well only have 2 issues with it 1 is it isn't finished I want and need more 2 is it is so dark and in every area that something can go wrong it does also the author literally never lets the main character get a break witch honestly kind of takes the immersion away from me become I kinda know what's gon happen the worst thing possible also what happened to his kid in the end is just undead it woulda been better if the kid was who it was expected to be I know this is lots of negative stuff but the actual writing and the story is perfect the way the main character acts and is is just simply perfect only other main issue is what happens with his wife I nearly dropped

- PeterRobertsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is hands down the most unique story I have read on RR to date and it’s exactly why I keep coming back here to read.
Style: The structure and tone of Nut/Johns thoughts are so beautifully crafted, but it’s the consistency that really blows you away. You get sucked into his thoughts because of the way the sentences are constructed and paced.
Story: In addition to this we have the plot of the story. To say that it is held back and teased out gently is an understatement. I feel like the information is hidden so deep in the dialogue and writing that I couldn’t even go back and find it, but somehow it all gets into my head.
Grammar: No issues. I’m not close reading for issues, but it is clear the author cares enough to clean up after themselves.
Character: Nut/Johns journey from the ancient days of history to the present day has clearly left him broken and he knows this. The way the scenes jump around to follow his random memories is masterful. When it was revealed that he is what he is my jaw literally hit the floor. The fact that so much time is taken to carefully establish the characters is really well done. It makes the upcoming litRPG section way more profound and I think a lot of LitRPG’s could benefit from taking their time early on.
No problem giving 5* accross the board on this, hope the author has plenty left in the tank. - Pepper208Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Vampires, LitRPG and Xianxia and my favorite types of books. With this this I won't have to bounce between three separate books to get my fix. So far the grammar and all the technical stuff is great and the story is moving along nicely. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this goes.
- Titania136Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Simply put I love, love, love the concept, and the main character. The MC is extremely old, as in I disagree with the written word old, and instead of that being something that is idly said it very much affects him. He places things in his mindset that he earned a long time ago and doesn't change his mind just because of a few pesky decades of change.
The Path to power is good mixing new things with established systems and terms so that we know enough to not get stuck.
But I will say one thing, the pages have a case of the wall of text. The text is placed so close together and gathered in such big paragraghs that I skip through important bits of text, and everything seems to rush ahead too fast. And this isn't some thing like I need glasses I read other series perfectly fine. But in this one it feels like the text goes by too fast.
But frankly I goddamn love what I've seen so far! - KhaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Read this. In some ways it might resemble your average apocalypse litrpg, the world and system have some similarities. But that's where it ends because at the heart of this story is it's characters.
It's characters are all real people with flaws and strengths. The MC actually feels like he's from a different time. The side characters are also great.
Just read the story. - HaydenHudsonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've not read anything quite like this before and it delights me. The style is unique, engaging and pleasant to read, I can't wait for more!
John's internal journey and analysis is so beautifully blended with the actions happening to him, its really a triumph.
This is definitely on that I'll be dissapointed to reach the 'waiting for chapters' stage. - Bigjeff5Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a very nice twist on the classic overpowered MC cultivator trope.
The style of writing aims toward a more myth/epic style than most cultivation/system novels, and the MC's significantly long life prior to gaining access to a System and Cultivation is a major component of this story, not simple window dressing as in most cultivation novels.
The MC, who goes by John, is the oldest living vampire - a man born before the invention of writing, who conquered kingdoms and was worshipped as a god, becoming the source of many legends before, after nearly 6000 years of life, his mind finally fails him and he becomes an invalid in the modern era.
When the System arrives and brings Cultivation to earth, John's mind is healed, and the result of combining cultivation with his incredible vampiric powers allows John to punch far, far above his level.
Despite the overpowered nature of the MC, the conflicts are well balanced. In fact, that he is so powerful gains him significant negative attention and causes him no end of grief he would not ordinarily receive. The obstacles he faces are commensurate to his true power level, and he faces a number of obstacles where being the strongest human doesn't particularly help, or even matter in some cases.
I found the story engrossing and entertaining, and I quite liked the change in style. Two thumbs up from me. - ActuallyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story so far! Very interesting characters, premise, writing and world building. I love it. I can't wait to find out more about the system and see where this goes. Way different then the last book, but not in a bad way. Way different writing and everything so far. Good grammar. Good style. And still need more words before it lets me post. Fantastic!
- bukvyrmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a system apocalyspe and a vampire MC, both of which i normally avoid. But! I really love it! The historical elements are really well done and i know enough about history that most stories that try to incorporate history just annoy the hell out of me and make me wish they'd stuck with making sh*t up.
The main character is fascinatingly and believably flawed, dealing with having a teenaged body and a very old, recently fully demented (as in, advanced dementia) mind, no knowledge of the past few hundred years, a really outdated worldview and sense of morality, past traumas including how absolutely terrible his original mentor and "love" were...well, there's a lot to unpack and it's done well.
The setting is fairly typical so far, although i'm enjoying the mild variation on the usual sapient animal companion and otherworldly mentor tropes. Hubaba, you are beautiful and creepy. Sunshine, you are that dickish young professor we've all had who nonetheless helps way more than anyone else. Strangely, not as keen on Amber, she's a little too, i don't know, typical? Shallow? Mary Sue? Something...
Interested in how it goes with reborn Lilitu/Lilith, who honestly seems waaay worse than the Forsaken somehow. Hope John gets more into learning modern ways even if he never really gets into modern parlance (i kinda love that flavour man) or modern ideas about morality (honestly, would they be helpful in his situation?). I'm talking about learning to use tech - computers, internet, etc. ...why do i suddenly have a flashback to teaching seniors to use web browsers and email...I picture Amber holding class for John and Hubaba going very off course...
