You can still read this book(you’ll probably miss some references and jokes though)! I might be a little biased as a westerner who can’t 100% understand a mainly Chinese genre with often dubious translations, but I can at least guarantee this story is pretty great

- AtreivahaviRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Best Xianxia story I've read bar none. Personal pereferences aside everything about this story is well thought and written. Fleshed out characters that actually have their own personality, good world building and working power dynamics are good and there is actually a story so far. It is not near finishing line but If I were to recommend a Xianxia story to anyone it would be this story.
- CookieMuffinsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall, it is masterful. The characters to the progression. Everything that needs to be there, is there, and everything that could push it into a category of great is there. There is absolutely nothing missing from this story.
The style fluctuates a bit during the later chapters, but it all leans towards improvement. The inconsistency is all that pushes this to a four-and-half. But that much is to be expected. The steady schedule and critique on every chapter put forth are enough to warrant changes. It's good that they were implemented to evolve the story, not just as something to change – which often sinks stories. There was a reason, something more than a fair share of authors forget they need when writing and improving.
The story was perfect. As a progression fantasy(a category all xianxia falls into) and as a story that develops to make you feel with the characters. Stories that focus solely on power are inevitably degraded as they progress, because challenges become unfeasible, and without challenges, even an internal overcoming, the story can't keep up. And fantasy stories that only focus on interaction, in my opinion, usually become something like a children's book – think Harry Potter(A phenomenal book, but lacking in the eventual power we all want to see the character develop and display, it's fulfillment). Whatever the users on RoyalRoad say about face slapping – and I do get the agitation from its excess – it's damn satisfying. Ave Xia Rem Y delivers.
Grammar – this one's short. It was good. I'm not saying it wasn't great or beautiful or perfectly powerful, but who notices that stuff when reading a web-novel? Proper grammar is needed, but when there's a grasp of English there, it falls to the back burner. Ask yourself three questions – does it break your immersion in any way? (No.) Does it get the picture across? (Yes.) Does it need anything else? (NO!)
Characters – The short and sweet – amazing. Fleshed out, juicy, plump, human characters. It was human - BasilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story so far with all the elements of a great wuxia fiction. Cultivation, hardship, adventure and introspection. Characters are written as they should and the action scenes are formed in a clear manner. I truly enjoy the story and it's characters so far and hope the writer keeps enjoying his craft. Looking forward to the next chapters.
- Alpha ZergRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story of a boy who becomes a man uncovering the history of his father and mentor, who was also his father's mentor, taking up their legacy and deciding to make his own mark on the world in his own terms, even against those who should be far more consequential than him.
This is one of those rare stories where every single chapter is great. At no point do you roll your eyes and think, "Of course the author is doing that. Typical." There are none of the usual blunders, every character has their own feel and motivations, the plot is interesting with twists that are sometimes foreshadowed and sometimes completely unexpected but make perfect sense in hindsight.
I haven't been disappointed by a single chapter, and I do not say that lightly at all. - Cjmd224Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the most in depth and well written cultivation stories I have ever read. The characters feel alive and have their own motivations and lives beyond the scope of the main character and the plot which is refreshing for how vivid it makes the world seem. It's a brilliant story and I can't wait for more.
- DermotRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Loving the story so far but I just wish there were more chapters released!! A great cultivation story with some interesting twists. The main character is likeable and his progress is fast enough to keep you engaged. The only issue I have is the slow release of chapters. I wouldn't mind as much if the story was bad :) but this is suprisingly good! Please release more chapters faster!
- DrAltRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The tropes are there for xanxia, but the characterization is anything but cliche. It is faithful to the genre expecataions. The characters have their own distinct personalities and rivalries; more importantly, I liked them.
What I particuarly enjoyed are certain end-of-chapter transitions, unusual cliff-hangers that kept me reading. It's better to binge this story than read it little by little.
The theme of managing power in a xanxia setting was well developed. The end of the first major arc was excellent. When the story was meandering, a bunch of little hints came together and it turned out the details from earlier were important. First book ended very well; good progression. Good 'slow burn' on main character's powers. I'm keeping it general here as I dislike spoilers and the author is very good about ending chapters and arcs well.
Story made my favorites list. - JediDRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ever been reading a xianxia and gotten annoyed when the MC just moves up a world, leaving behind any characters that we introduced and never developed for anything more than to prove a point? This story is the opposite of that. It's xianxia with actually real human characters, not a bunch of dnd murder hobo's and childhood cartoon villians.I can already tell the update speed will be somewhat slow, but this one's worth it.
