Description
NOTE: On hiatus because of lack of motivation. Might return to it at some point if creativity and desire strike.
What happens after death? Eve had her own thoughts on this age-old question. Theories, however, don't always align with reality. In fact, sometimes reality is so far off that it might as well be in another universe. In Eve’s case, that was exactly where it decided to put her.
Stranded in a version of the DC Universe with nothing but her mind, soul, and a slightly different body, she must find her way through this new life she’s been given. Oh, and a spellbook with magic from Dungeons & Dragons, of course.
Follow Eve as she finds her way and grows as a superhero with magic from Dungeons & Dragons. An isekai story set in an original AU of the world of DC Comics, featuring many known characters and a few new ones.
What to expect:
- A lighthearted slice-of-life story
- New takes on known characters
- Humor
- Friendship
- Found family
- Lesbian romance (As in the MC is gay, and eventually in a relationship. I don't wanna hear any complaining about it!)
- Cute girls doing cute things
- Superheroing
- Some NSFW (although this isn’tthatkind of fic)
If you think something should be added to this list, please let me know.
Disclaimer: I do not own Dungeons & Dragons or DC Comics.
A/N: I started writing this story for myself as a way to get ideas out of my head, but figured I might as well share it here in case anyone wants to read it.
I’ve drawn inspiration from many other fanfictions set in the DC Universe, and especially Young Justice. The premise is the same — a team of young superheroes training together — but the story (as far as there actuallyisa story) is completely different.
There are no plans for any major plotlines — just cute girls doing cute things. Therewillbe romance and sexual themes, and theremightbe other themes that some find triggering. If you read a chapter and feel that there should be a trigger warning on it, please leave a comment to tell me about it.
AI has been used for spell checking and to make sure I’m not just writing gibberish while in a sleep-deprived stupor, but every word that has been written was written bymeand me alone.
I appreciate criticism — both positive and negative — but please remember that Arcana was never written with the intention of actually beingpublished. It’s supposed to be fun and wholesome, but not necessarilygood.
With that said, I hope you enjoy my story! Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions, and I’ll try to answer.

The story is lighthearted, non/low-angsty and very cute (when the romance starts going). More slice of life than superheroes goign into battle etc; though there are a few fight scenes and some investigations. Well written and an enjoyable read, no complaints.

Don't expect to much struggle (so far), grim dark villains or big psychological problems. Everything is there but always with the undertone of hope. For a fun read, that's exactly what I wanted right now. - MutalithRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I never thought to myself that the thing I really needed in my life was a story about a girl with DnD magic ending up in the DC/YJ universe. Guess that shows me that I have no idea what I want in my life because this story is amazing.
The best part is that unlike many DC fanfics that focus heavily on the superheroing, this story focuses more on the people behind the costume. You really get to see the world through their eyes and come to understand what drives them. Plus there is cute GL so what more could you ask for.
Once there are more chapters I will edit this to do a more advanced review. However, for now give it a try and find something you also didn't know you needed in your life, but you actually do! - gjimRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Equal parts mischievous and cozy. With classic characters from the DC universe with a well crafted fan character that after a few chapters you sort of forget the fact that Eve is a fan creation. Definitely worth a read if you are into comics even in the slightest.I genuinely hope the author continues to write as this is a story I look forward to reading.
- notna455Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This fan fiction is one of my favorites and i read it all the way through in one day. I would recommend this for anyone interested in dc or girls love. The use of d&d spells is very interesting and versatile. I love Eve's character and her interactions with the dc characters.
- Poked WarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the story so far. The authors take on the Justice League being proper adults and not putting their sidekicks in dangerous situations from the get go is a refreshing take in my opinion. This story is worth a read and I would 10/10 recommend. I hate how I have to have 50 words for a review i don't have 50 words when I do or don't like a fiction
- TeaGeekRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this story! Generally, I am very much not fond of fan-fictions and the combining of a couple together had kept me from touching this, in spite of it coming up repeatedly in my series searches using certain filters. Now I’m very glad I gave it a chance!
This is an isekai/portal/reincarnation into another world story of the retaining memories and personality persuasion. Our protagonist isn’t reborn, but pops into another world upon death with the body of a Tiefling from Dungeons and Dragons (though she seems to be lacking a tail, or it hasn’t been mentioned up to chapter 28). Mixing the D&D elements into the version of DC that tracks pretty well with the animated show Young Justice (which the MC has familiarity with) is a choice, but has so far worked surprisingly well.
The glue that really holds all this together really is the characterization of our protagonist and the surrounding characters we get occasional POV swaps with. The author does an admirable job changing the perceived voice of these characters and the primary one we get is a delight. I’m all about good-natured, honest, helpful main characters who try to be open and supportive. I know lots of folks take issue with “naive” MCs, but it would be a mistake to label this one as such, even if she operates through open communication and optimism. The author does a good job showcasing a level of maturity in Eve of the kind that comes about from dealing with bad living situations from an early age. It is refreshing seeing this being addressed and highlighting that traumas do not need to produce angst. Likewise, doing soft analysis on the traumas of the other characters as a means to avoid some of the negative situations they would face in canon feels really nice.
The author generally avoids combat (in so much as can be done in a superhero story), which I really appreciate. Some of the comics and shows in DC really have unnecessary levels of punching and property damage; having a c - WardenWinterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Earlier this week, I watched the new James Gunn-directed Superman movie. It has some good moments and some weak ones, especially due to tonal whiplash between moments of sincerity and comedy.
Then I started this story and *wished* the movie could have had half the heart that's on these pages. Not only is the humor funnier, it's more consistent with the characters and the world that is created than other attempts to explore a cohesive DC universe. The care and *fun* the author has had in the world is tangible in every joke, every reference, and every annoyance with Kid Flash.
Eve, our unfortunately deceased protagonist is perhaps a little too good and wholesome even when she's confessing to masturbating in the shower. She is earnest and honest, and the romance plot that develops is absolutely fitting under the circumstances.
The POV changes that occasionally occur never overstay their welcome, and provide valuable insights into how the other characters perceive themselves and their circumstances.
Overall, this story is a ray of sunshine that you can relax and bask in with positive arcs and vibes. It's also simply a joy to experience. 5/5 Stars - LioreanDoodlesRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Really enjoyed how you seamlessly integrated your OC into the DC universe it felt natural and compelling. The character interactions, especially with canon heroes, were well-balanced and didn’t feel forced. Your OC has depth, and I’m genuinely curious to see how they evolve within this world. Keep up the great work!
- NobodySpecialRoyal Road★★★ 3.0i'm usually pretty good at going with the flow when reading but...
wally actually did have a valid reason for the thing he said, he and the team could be legitimately harmed by arcana's PR blunder
if two people do something it reflects only on themself, if two people IN UNIFORM do something it reflects on the entire group they are associated with
instead of exploring the realistic consequences of arcana's actions they just set wally up as a fall guy and have them apologize for calling her out about it
and now i just can't stop seeing the sociopolitical narrative being pushed by this story
