Overall:The story has a gripping start, creating a sense of tension and dread right from the opening scenes. The chaotic invasion of monsters and the family’s struggle to survive is deeply immersive. The narrative successfully pulls the reader into the frantic atmosphere of the town under siege. There’s a clear transition from the panic of immediate danger to the looming mystery of the Tower of Amareth, which opens up exciting possibilities for the plot's development. The blend of survival, family dynamics, and the dark fantasy world provides a solid foundation for what could become a thrilling adventure.Grammar:The writing is mostly fluid but there are a few sentences that could benefit from more clarity or reworking for smoother readability. Overall, nothing too distracting, but refinement will elevate the overall quality.Story:The plot is engaging and filled with tension. The stakes are high from the start, with the family’s escape and their entry into the Tower. The story promises a mix of horror, action, and mystery, with the monsters and the appearance of the tower setting the stage for a deep dive into an unknown world. While this chapter is more action-focused, it sets up intriguing questions about the Tower of Amareth, the nature of the monsters, and the mysterious summoning that happens toward the end.Character:The family dynamic is believable, and each family member’s reactions are authentic, ranging from Will’s stoic resolve to Crystal’s subtle fear, and David’s reluctant leadership. The kids, especially Zoey and Chloe, offer a nice range of perspectives that reflect their youth and vulnerability in the face of danger. There’s a strong emotional core to the story that comes from the family’s relationship, which helps ground the fantasy elements. However, the characters could benefit from deeper internal monologues to flesh out their personalities further.Style:The author has a good sense of pacing, balancing action and dialogue well. The style leans towa

I really like the premise of the book! The siblings are lively and distinct, each bringing something different to the table in terms of personality. I can easily see readers gravitating toward certain siblings as favorites, while perhaps disliking others, which I think is a good thing. It creates space for interesting discourse and different opinions among readers. It’s always fun when a book sparks that kind of discussion. While the beginning does feel a bit confusing, it doesn’t last long. Things pick up fairly quickly, and soon enough, the characters are thrown right into the action, being thrust into the tower. Personally, I would’ve appreciated seeing more hesitation or confusion from the siblings when everything started happening. A bit more apprehension would have added another layer of realism to the situation, at least in my opinion. But, overall, it doesn’t take away from the story, and that’s just my personal take. I’m really excited to see how their powers develop and what kinds of challenges they’ll face as they progress through the tower. It will be interesting to watch how their abilities diverge and grow, and how the dynamics between the siblings change as the story goes on. It’s definitely shaping up to be an enjoyable read!

An interesting and fun new entry into the tower climber genre. The story starts off fast, jumping straight into the action and setting up future plot points and hooks. As a fan of litRPGs and tower climbers, I instantly knew that I would enjoy it and be along for the ride.It follows the children in a family after they get separated from their parents because of an invasion of orcs, and are then thrust into a tower. Each member of the family has a distinct personality and the author does a great job characterizing them throughout the initial chapters. The setting is what you would expect from a tower climber. That is, a tower. But it keep things interesting and new in many ways. The setting outside of the tower seems like a mix of modern and fantasy, with the main character using a car to drive over orcs to get out of town. I gotta say, I've never read about orcs being run over by a car before, and I like it!There are some grammatical errors, but nothing egregious, and nothing that an editor won't fix. Just the occasional missing comma. But no one reads stories for the grammar, they read for the story and characters, and this story has got both in spades.Chapters end on engaging hooks that keep me wanting to read more. Overall, I recommend anyone reading this review to give the novel a shot.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! As someone who doesn't particularly read Litrpg stories, I can confidently say, that it piqued my interest. I'm already very invested and this is largely due to the specific part of the story, which makes up the most of its charm, the relationship between the four siblings. Very early on, I got attached to them, which made we want to read the next chapter each time. It's also the part, which separates it from the typical plot structure that is associated with the genre. Ordinarily, we follow the main character, who starts out as a loner who first has to build connections as it becomes increasingly more powerful, so strong bonds have to take time before they properly develop. As the eldest sibling, David is forced to be responsible for the survival of his siblings Zoey, Elisha and Chloe as the world is plunged in chaos. Despite being competent and being granted with immense potential, he suffers under the weight of duty he is now forced to experience. And yet, his siblings pull their own weight and don't depend on him. Each one, save for the inexperienced Chloe, who has trouble to acclimate to their new circumstances, possess the ability and resolve to help each other without hesitation, while still capable of the banter and mockery between each other, as is expected from most siblings. It's a delight to see them work together to survive in this harsh environment. Seeing this mental hurdle for the MC early on, while having relationships that ground him, made me attached to their journey. Add in the potential for the intricate system that this fantasy setting offers, and you will have yourself an enjoyable read, that you will have trouble putting down. I highly recommend this story and believe that you won't be disappointed!

Towers of Ascension is LitRPG featuring a reluctant bunch of people climbing up a tower and doing tasks and quests for a mysterious entity Amareth. So far, so good, and it stays good.We have the usual circumstance of a group of friends brought to the tower. They are given a chance to choose their Blessings, essentially their character class, before being whisked away to overcome the trials of the tower. The protagonist David chooses a slightly OP class at the beginning which then gets reinforced later by a rare treasure that they are able to acquire early in their adventures.Since it is a group of friends the classic five man band is present straight from the beginning which means we can get into the meaty parts of the story early. The trials and challenges they face are interesting and unique, ranging from straight up defeat this to more introspective challenges such as facing their own fears etc. This changes the pace from just mindless violence and gets the reader to think now and again. The grammar was generally good with only a few mistakes here and there. Still, nothing that detracts from the overall flow of the story. More importantly, the prose is colorful without going purple and reads well.If you like your classical tower climber LitRPG then I highly recommend this story. Everything is here! It will feel like an old friend with a wonderful and unique makeover!

The story fits well into Young Adults category, but adults will enjoy it, too. The story focuses on David, the eldest of 4 siblings. He is their leader and feels quite protective of his siblings. I'd have liked to get to know the siblings a bit more. As David moves through the challenges, his power and knowledge grow, making him a better combatant.  I'm on Chapter 20 and looking forward to more of the boik.

This kicks off with a bang. I don't see this often, dunno, but modern world overrun by monsters is great concept. I can totally feel the tension, the way author describes the chaos and the heroes desperate escape really pulls me in. The stakes are high from page one, which is awesome.Writing style is smooth. The pace starts off super intense and then cleverly gives you a bit of a break when the characters find some relative safety. It’s like a rollercoaster ride, and the author knows when to slow things down just enough to keep you hanging on.It's cool that these aren’t new creatures; they're ones you're probably familiar with. There's even a bit where someone hits a monster with their own car, lol! The humor sprinkled throughout is a nice touch.Grammar is good, I can't say much mysel as I'm not and EN native speaker. But author prolly fixed everything already, because I did not find even one mistake. The multiple main characters are great. Theres David, Zoey, Chloe, and Elish, but David kind of steals the show. From the start, you see them grow and change, and their reactions feel natural, like how real people would respond to these insane situations. The dialogue is spot on, author knows how to write dialogues very well. Nothing cringey there.

"Towers of Ascension" is an interesting blend of action and fantasy. It's focus is - wait for it - tower climbing. Familiar genre tropes and fantasy elements are on point, but it's the heartfelt moments that really breathe life in it.The characters are super relatable, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, which makes them feel real and compelling. The writing really pulls you in, making you feel the fear and intensity of the monster invasions. The plot moves quickly with lots of twists and turns that keep you hooked as the siblings tackle the deadly challenges of Amareth’s tower.Watching the characters grow into their combat roles adds an exciting layer to the story, with plenty of character development and dynamic interactions. As for grammar and style, those are on point too, with descriptions that make the settings and action scenes come alive. The dialogue feels natural and really helps build emotional connections, especially the family bonds that drive their survival instincts and decisions. All in all, "Towers of Ascension" grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go.If you love tower climbing and action-packed stories that don't shy away from getting real with emotionally-driven, complex characters, I say you have to give it a go!

Style: It's descriptive enough so we can have a great picture of locations, character designs and actions. My only gripe is the occcasional repetition of words and odd wording one time. Other than that, it's great.Story: Apparently, the story takes place on a modern world with fantasy aspects until it all comes crashing down on humanity at once. The tower lore thus far is pretty interesting and brimming with potential. The fight scenes and monster encounters are pretty well made as well. Also, what was that Ian Somerhalder name drop?! Is The Vampire Diaries canon in this world?! I want to know his story with the dungeon!Grammar: I found a few typos in the first chapters, but there was nothing too distracting, thankfully.Characters: The problem with stories that introduce so many characters at once is that the development and characterization sometimes only shines on a select few. Unfortunately, that is the case here.Of all the siblings, only David was the one with a solid character and motives for me. Even so, I didn't feel all that attached with his "burden of being the oldest" storyline. However, since I've only read the first five chapters, it is highly possible to be temporary.Overall, a solid story with a premise that works pretty well on Royal Road's readerbase. If you are an LitRPG fanatic (why would you come here, otherwise?), this is definitely a story for you!
