Am I Seriously The Only Gamer?!
Community Rating
Description
William is a shut-in. He is an introvert. He is a geek. According to his small town, he is a failure.
One day while relaxing with games and manga, a blinding light appeared and he was whisked away to the world of GAEA.
Having to adjust to the new world with the few dozen members of his former small and rural town, he is thrust into a world where you quickly sink or swim.
His one advantage over others from his village is the system in the new world. Recognizing parallels to Fantasy RPG games he had played, William resolves himself not to be what he once was and would become strong. The world of GAEA seems perfect for a gamer...the only gamer from his little town.
Life isn't fair and even in another world, he will learn that you can't escape hardships without true struggle.
As he grows, old animosity to him changes, both for better and for worse, but these are trifling matters compared to the system endorsed events and encounters that he will be subjected to. Natives of various backgrounds will come for good and for ill and it will be down to him how he adjusts to such changes and confrontations.
With a new slate, 2 beginner classes, 4 skills, and gamer's attitude he will fight through the world of GAEA, see new sights, and complete many trials and tribulations.

- Moon Wolf 96Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The way the author has laid out the leveling system is both novel and familiar enough to be an interesting read. There is no exposition blast about how the world works at the start, rather giving an explanation when it becomes relevant. Letting the reader be introduced to the world at the same time as the characters.
Looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. - Harbinger of PieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Finished the first arc. The story itself strikes a brilliant balance between progression and character development. Lore comes naturally without info dumps and the story is delivered at a well balanced pace. I absolutely recommend this story to any fan fo the genre.
Cheers Knight_shade, thank you and I look forward to the rest of te story! - Darigaz1298Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I haven't made it far into the story yet, but I am in love with the descriptive ability of the author. I can imagine the difficulty of writing a deliberately flawed character where most LITRPG has an OP protagonist with a weird ability. The fact that William is starting out with the same weaknesses and class limitations of everyone else there with him is truly refreshing to read.
I am hoping that William's character development is qualitative and not quantitative, but from what I've seen, I don't believe I have anything to worry about.
I am loving how the Reader gets to experience the new world with the characters. No info dumps or Appendices to go back through either, which is a personal bugbear of mine.
the world itself from what we see so far is verdant and hospitable with distant mountain ranges that elude to a much wider world.
From the other reviews provided for this story, I have to agree so far and say that the concept may be similar to many other fantasy stories and litrpg, but the potential for the character growth is present and enticing. I am hoping to see more from the side characters too, maybe with a POV shift added by in so we can glean insights into the feelings of the other characters.
part of me wants to give all 5 stars, but I need to read now first as things might change, but so far I am liking this story.
Looking forward to more, Knight Shade - EuryaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Only 25 ish chapter so far, but man they'r good. Yes, it follow a very classic et already seen trope, but lets be honnest, it is the reason we decided to start reading it.
And no, it's not only classic tropes. The character is flawed, the (so far) side character are well design and wrote, and the story's tempo is very pleasant.
Not a fan of writing reviews, but tought it was important to supoort the author and encourage them in this story which have, as i have said, a very very good start. - Corroded LexiconRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Starts with a somewhat ordinary isekai premise, and seems to go in a fairly typical direction. Gamer with no life gets magicked away to another world, becomes an epic badass, etc.
But Knight_Shade added actual depth to that formula. We see a reclusive shut-in actually having meaningful interactions with his family for the first time in years. We see an ordinary person have to come to terms with killing other people. And we see that, for as much of a badass as the main character is becoming, there's always a bigger fish.
AISTOG gives me that fantasy dopamine rush I'm looking for while also adding layers of complexity that I've seen a lot of stories neglect. It creates a story that's both fun and engaging for me to read, and I highly recommend that anyone who's interested give it a shot. If you're not sure whether you'll like it or not, you can always read the first few chapters to see how you feel about reading the rest. - chaogoesmuRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Remember that kid who thought everyone was mean to them and no one liked them cause they were fat/ugly/whatever but it was really cause they were just an unpleasant self righteous asshat that even if perfection physically you would still hate? Imagine if one got a do over to actually make something of themselves and they did it all with strong plot armor. That's the MC. If you can stand his self righteous I'm right your wrong and everyone but me is an idiot blathering along with everyone else being exceedingly incompetent to the point I don't think they could tie their own shoes then you might like this. Edgelord neet power fantasy, I bailed when it also got into harem as I can handle only so much cringe, but if your in that stage of your life may enjoy.
- AyashiRoyal Road★★ 2.0Somewhat decent worldbuilding and the "whole village got isekai'ed with me" idea is good, but the execution is poor, the game system is VERY meh, the protag is mostly senseless, and a 30-man village is pathetic and really kills the basic idea.
On the upside the grammar and overall writing itself is solid.
