I love stories about broken people with depression. Stories of healing or despair. Those always hit right in the feels. I didn't know anything about this story when I came into it. When I figured out the guy had depression, I simultaneously said "Yes, Great!" and "Oh No! I feel bad for the guy!" But, understandably, I had my hopes up. Were my expectations met?
Style: The style is mostly great. A couple of nitpicks but that's mostly just me. Overall, the style is readable and engaging enough, and even with better parts of the book to praise, it is still good. 4.5 stars.
Grammar. Nothing to say here. I found one mistake in 12 chapters. It's pretty much perfect. Nothing to change. Keep it up. 5 stars.
Story: The story is equal parts mysterious, dark, and entertaining. It's really cool to see different lifestyles come together, and it's done in a unique way where you can tell that the different lifestyles don't really coincide. At times the story can be confusing with The Alchemist, but Tav's story is beautiful and I need to know more of his past. 4.5 stars.
    Speaking of Tav:
Character: There are not many side characters, and they don't appear a lot, so here I only talk about Tav. I want to do a deep character dive into him, but it would be too long. Suffice it to say, I LOVE TAV! He's a broken character with depression, trying to ignore his past mistakes, which puts him in a worse position. Yes, there's a magic undertone to his POV, but I do prefer his normal life. It's sad, but that's what makes it so great. 5 stars.
Overall, this book is amazing. Definitely a must-read on Royal Road. Did I say how much I love Tav? Broken people make good stories, therefore this one is great.
    Read it.
