The start is a little bumpy as the writer introduces concepts too quickly. There are a few moments of desperation to develop the plot that dissipates as the story progresses. The plot develops nicely after the abrupt start. I'd prefer more time spent writing about the time before the world ruptures. There is good character development but the initial lack of character formation hampers the early plot line before the story becomes more action oriented. The MC slowly becomes relatable. The magic system is well thought out, though slow to progress as the writer suggests. There are multiple MC viewpoints that add to the storyline. It feels that it will take forever to develop at times and if you're after instant overpowering and crazy strength this isn't for you. Improvements and character development in the 0.1% range are invigorating. The plot is as described, slow burn, it may not be original or perfect but it's worth 5 stars and very enjoyable. There are realistic class progressions that proceed to obvious power improvements. The main character class looks to be relatively original and the skill descriptions are innovative.I look forward to seeing how the main character's class and profession skills and statistics progress, and I want to keep reading. This is a good beginning past the first few pages.Thank you for posting.

All great so far!  Most people have just a basic System that they don't even notice at first.  A fair number have basic classes beyond their previous jobs.  Only the MC so far had an actual choice in the matter and access to System guidance to some extent.  The world has decayed while humans were initialized to the System.  They find themselves sharing the world with numerous strange beings - mostly dangerous.

A Relatively Powerful Mage is an objectively good read. The author's earliest chapters show a degree of polish and background work that bode well for those that enjoy system exploration and exploitation.Style: This work easily falls into the hard system category and is done very well. By chapter four it is already clear how much thought the author puts into the system which is very promising for a series surrounding a character with control of space and time. Readers who want to get into the minutia of magic like the mana conductivity of copper will be richly rewarded.Story: The story begins with a quick rendition of the integration into apocalypse genre before taking off into the main flavor: hardcore system analysis with a side of progression. The author has handed Imri an analytical mind and the tools to begin tearing into the system. The crunchiness of the system works in favor of this direction, showing the foundations have been set for a good time.Grammar: Really good. I cleared several chapters before realizing I hadn’t noticed a flaw which speaks to either good editing skills or a meticulous writer. There’s really nothing to say here other than keep doing what you’re doing!Character(s): The author has done strong work introducing realistic characters thus far in the narrative, giving a realistic setup for these people to act as they do. The main character and his first supporter act as great foils, and it quickly becomes clear the author intends to develop that relationship further. Other supportive characters are quickly introduced as well as what seem to be minor characters, and these interactions are handled just as well.

From the very first chapter, this one grabbed my attention and didn't let go. The opening scene paints a vivid picture of Imri's dire situation in the hospital, immediately drawing me into his struggle - and it's always a good way to start one of these! It really is a gripping start, with the reality of his condition contrasting with the fantastical turn his life is about to take.
The author does a fantastic job of balancing the emotional weight of Imri's illness with the intrigue of the new world he finds himself in. I really felt the connection there.
T introduction of Emelia, the nurse from Imri's past life, adds an interesting dynamic and it could really go two ways... but more on that later i'm sure! Their interactions are realistic and well-written, with a mix of confusion, curiosity, and a touch of awkwardness that's so relatable. The way Imri's character begins to develop his abilities in this new world is fascinating. It's not just about gaining strength or power; it's about adapting to an entirely new way of existence, which the author portrays really well.
More tension and emotion comes in. Emelia's empathic abilities add depth to the narrative, providing a unique perspective on the events unfolding that felt unique and well thought out. The fight scene with the lizard creature is intense and well-described. The way Emelia and Imri's skills complement each other adds a layer of strategy and depth to their survival, making their dynamic even more interesting. Who doesn't love a companion?
The way the characters grapple with the implications of their new abilities and the rules of this strange world feels authentic. The author has created a universe that's rich and complex, yet accessible, and that's sometimes the most important part of these stories for me.
The book isn't without its flaws. Sometimes, the technical explanations of the system and classes can get a bit heavy, but these moments are few and far between. Overall, the pacing is solid, and the st

I admit, I've only read a few LitRpg throughout the years so I don't really know how good it really is compared to all the others on this site. But I'll say, it has been a pretty good read throughout all the chapters that I've read.
Grammar: Pretty good, English isn't my main language, so I'm no specialist in this area...but I managed to follow the story easily so it was okay for me.
Story: Solid world-building, that stands out from the rest of the genre. The insertion of the system with the rest works well to serve the character development and the story. It feels as if it's a living breathing world.
Style: it actually feels like that the author knows what they are doing. Although...they could certainly chill out a little with the system boxes, so maybe you could have some gripes with it, I myself managed to push on, I only hope that later in the story the author doesn't expect us to remember every single skill and stat increase throughout a later fight, crossing fingers here.
Characters: The core part of this story. They feel like real people with needs, desires, likes, and dislikes. In just a few chapters the author manages to make you care about them and makes you want to see them surpass all the struggles and trials that the author puts them though.

Great story & system. Beware if you hate math lol. Definitely takes awhile to pick up and really start rolling so don't judge too soon. Just finished book 1 and it's a satisfying payoff. Author isn't visually descriptive but very descriptive about stats. Mc & side characters are all well written

The characters actually learn and grow. The support characters are not 1 dimensional pieces used to emphasize something about the MC or as stepping stones. They have their own personalities and goals. Also the MC isnt all powerful with the solution to every problem. I love it. Creates tension and allows pay off when the characters come together or not to solve an issue.

Okay, although the story obviously has problems, especially at the start, it should not be so low rated it has pretty good world-building, and I like the kingdom-building aspect, so I am giving 5 stars to offset some hasty reviews given after the first few chapters. It would be better if the frequency of chapters was higher, tho.

I started reading this just yesterday and was pleasantly surprised.
The fantasy elements are very well done. I personally like the character development and interpersonal relationships between characters. I'm not sure where the story will go from here but I expect good things. The setting isn't fully fleshed out yet, but it leaves room for an even better setup later on.

This is my first foray into the genre of LitRpgs, and I think I chose a good one to start, because now I have a very good idea of what the genre entails, as well as having spent my time well with a strong story, system and cast of characters.
The system itself, the way stats, levels and abilities are integrated into the story will definitely scratch the itch for those who want a rich, complex system, one which can be fine-tuned and optimized while under the threat of death. I found myself getting very immersed in the mechanics despite never having read a Litrpg before, but I'm a gamer so that tracks. The MC's class allows for very creative use of powers, even within the confine of the system.
What I really appreciate about the story are the stakes. There's very little time to get used to their new world, to all the threats around them. And so the characters are left struggling during every second of the day, having to band together and rapidly come up with strategies in order to survive. The tension is delicious, and it keeps every chapter interesting.
The style and prose work well with the straight-forward, sometimes ruthless nature of this new world, it does what it needs to do, delivering each development swiftly, like a dagger to the heart. As for the grammar, I didn't notice any mistakes. My only small nitpick would be that some sentences explaining the system could be more elegantly worded, but the result is good nonetheless.
The MC and his companion are the characters that carry this story so far, and they make a good team, each complementary to the other in their strengths and weaknesses. Neither of them would be alive without the other, that's for sure. I have no real complaints with them, maybe I would've liked to see more interactions and have a few more moments with them before everything went to hell, but I understand why the quick pace at the beginning is necessary, and there'll be plenty of time for that in the future.
Overall, this is a very enjoyabl
