Description
Karma's a bitch, and then you hoard. Being isekai’d into the body of a dragon whose only task is to guard and grow a pile of shiny treasure seemed like a win to Bob. Flight, Might, Bite — and all it cost him was dying? Fair trade! There’s even a dungeon core as a bonus to his starting pile of treasure! The system claimed this was a downgrade from his human life, but it didn’t feel like it… at first. Unfortunately, his dungeon sprite is a borderline-psychotic 1200-year-old pixie from a cultivation world who just missed out on becoming a god. She isn’t happy about interning for a lizard, and her idea of positive conflict resolution involves punching Bob’s minions in their balls until they do as they’re told. The challenges are endless for a newly hatched dragon. The looming threat of idiots with magic swords looking to take his head, a dungeon to grow, a sudden tendency to salivate whenever virgin sacrifices are mentioned, and a burning desire to expand his hoard. Worst of all, Bob has to learn how to be a better person, or he’ll find out what the next downgrade will be. ✨ Two separate LitRPG-lite systems for Bob! (Draconic Evolution and Dungeon Core) 🔥 Breath Weapons! Sharp claws! …Business acumen? ⚔️ Strong to Stronger MC 📚 A world inspired by the likes of Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. ⚫ Bawdy humour and zany side characters. ⏳ Release schedule: Mon-Fri ⚔️ Read 30 chapters ahead onPatreon!

- He_Who_KnocksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I clicked on it because the animated cover looked amazing—and it delivered. The story follows a reincarnated protagonist who wakes up in a fantasy world as a dungeon boss dragon guarding a hoard of coins. It feels like the backstory of one of those classic RPG dragon bosses, and that hook alone was enough to keep me reading.
The writing is excellent—clean, polished, and professional. Feels very close to a traditionally published novel. No grammar issues, and the prose flows smoothly, showing clear skill on the author’s part.
The plot so far is simple and linear, but that’s part of the appeal. It seems to be shaping up into a light-hearted, comedic adventure without any over-the-top villains or sprawling plotlines. Just Bob and Kat growing their coin stash and getting into hilarious situations.
Speaking of Kat—she’s a standout. Smug, sassy, and definitely not your typical “waifu” type, but she’s written with depth and personality. Her interactions with Bob are some of the best parts of the story, giving off genuine sibling-like vibes that feel warm and real.
The humor hits well, the references are clever, and the progression system fits naturally into the story. Worldbuilding hasn’t gone too deep yet, but the western medieval fantasy setting works fine for the tone.
Overall, "Bob" is fun, easy to read, and full of heart. I’ll definitely be sticking around to see how this dragon’s tale unfolds. - PastelPeachesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really enjoy the the dragon x dungeon Core idea, having a dragon, even if he's only a baby, be in charge of a dungeon Core yet still able to freely leave and make buisness deals with shady individuals is very fun.
I like the dungeon system, it's something I haven't really come across before in other dungeon Core stories, especially since the owner of the dungeon core has a physical body. But Bob has to pay gold to open up new floors, and after doing so he also has to defeat and clear the floors before he can use them! They're random and some of the floor themes we've come across have been very silly and fun.
It's a very novel idea, I've never read another story like it, and only one other dungeon core story with the Mc having a physical body and able to leave the dungeon.
Bob doesn't appear to be attached to the dungeon in the same way that most dungeon Core mcs are, or at least it feels a lot different than ones where the mc is a dungeon core, which I feel fits this story.
I love the characters we've met so far, and I find it interesting that being isekai-ed isn't that uncommon for the world that Bob has ended up in.
I've found no problems with the Grammer or style of the author, the story is more on the comedic or less-serious side. A dragon named Bob sleeps on a pile of gold coins with his face on it, and a six-inch fairy in a metal bikini slaps him on the ear when he annoys her.
So far this story is very much light-hearted fantasy, and I couldn't see it taking on a darker tone quickly.
I'm excited for more chapters, to meet more characters, see what other floors they build in the dungeon and how Bob grows his hoard. - SmileofskiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A continuous giggle, as I devoured it! Obviously in Terry P's style, with humour that simply flows from wonderful and imaginative story line. The world is rich in detail and the characters literally leap out of the writing and kick you in the balls – in some cases. There are so many underlying comedic references to other movies and stories that I am sure I must have missed many of them – and like the Airplane movies, I shall have to go back and re-read this over and over to find the ones I have missed. The characters come over as real with individual drivers, attitudes and responses to the situations they find themselves facing, the dialogue just brings them to life. Bob (the Dragon) displays wonderful draconian characteristics which not only seem so real, but wonderfully deliver so much of the humour so far in the story – I loved the “hobbit” reference. The concept of the “Dungeon Sprite” and her attire (no spoiler here – I shall leave you to find out!) I found hilarious and I have been left with a mental image which will not go away – not sure I actually want it too! The writing is polished and well structured, obviously not Milc’s first attempt and while I enjoyed his earlier work, Bob is a step beyond anything he or his imagination has produced in the past. There is no messing about, the story rattles along at a terrific pace and makes me want to just keep scrolling. So looking forward to seeing where this goes – can’t wait.
- HunterCaylRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0For starters, that was a quick and easy read, and I don’t mean anything to do with the length of the story. The story is entertaining, through and through, and is executed wonderfully. I really don’t have any bad thing to say about it, and I’d be surprised if you do either!
At no point did I feel any grammatical errors were pulling me out of the story, or notice any real issues. The story is as polished as anything I’ve seen on Royal Road, and I won’t say more than that.
The characters are wonderfully done. Even if I’ve only met two of them so far, they each felt fleshed, with breadcrumbs that hinted at a deeper story. The titular character, Bob, is sassy and wonderful, and whatever his life was beforehand, he was born to be the dragon he is growing into. His supporting guide, who we have only seen the barest hints of backstory for, feels realistic and nuanced. Most importantly, the interplay between the characters drives the story forward. Exposition is interspersed in their dialogue, but the way the characters interact is key. There is doubtless a strong relationship building between them, they don’t have a choice in the matter there, even if it’s fantastically antagonistic at times.
As far as story goes, I am still getting into the meat of the story itself. I’m not sure what you’re looking for if you came here expecting a story that isn’t about a dragon hoarding his treasure in a new world. He’s got growing to do, and a whole world to do it in, and I’m here for it. Seeing what else comes down the pipeline is just icing on the cake.
The author demonstrates a strong smile that is engaging and humorous. This, along with the strength of the characterization, serves as a primary driving element for my reading of this story. Being written in the first person allows the authors style to mesh with Bob’s personality, creating an amalgam of entertainment that you won’t want to miss. - I_exist_todayRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is just to help support the book.yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza yowza

- ThistlemanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0God, I love this story!Overall: 5/5Its been a pretty fantastic first 9 chapters, and I have been having a great time! The banter is great, Bob's gone native, and our 100% definitely-psychotic dungeon sprite Kat has done nothing less than stir-up chaos in every scene. The action is great, the comedy is on-point, and there are fun, original new creatures meshed into our fantasy world. I'm pretty excited to see what's coming next :)Now, on to the advanced elements.Style: 5/5We are running first person, from Bob's perspective. The fun twist of this is Bob, being isekai'd, has a human consciousness in a dragon's mind. The style helps reinforce this concept by consistently focusing on the more comedic elements, with a strong flair for the fun and normalizing the absurd.Grammar: 5/5This is one of the easiest sections. Grammar issues are very rare, and everything is very well written. Expect a smooth reading experience.Character: 5/5So far, we have two members in our main cast, Bob and Kat, and just recently have been introduced to some new side characters. The banter/dialogue between the characters is an excellent point, and they are both very consistent in their personalities.Everything so far feels like it has built smoothly from each prior chapter, and there is certainly room for each of them to grow and change throughout the story. Expect plenty of witty jokes, snubs, and some good-ol nose bonking to go around!Story: 5/5There has been a lot of ground covered in just the first nine chapters! We got to dive head-first into this new world, where the gods are definitely up to some kind of mischief. And now, we get to see this play out as Bob takes on his new role of a Draconic dungeon master, building his new lair one-step at a time, while trying to keep his newly-inherited dragon brain from shooting himself in the foot. New floors are not freely given, but unlockable challenges to be cleared. And his dungeon sprite certainly has some, uh,unique ideason how to best encourag
- LorinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As the title says A Dragon Called Bob is a fun little story about an Isekai'd everyday guy who becomes a baby dragon tasked with protecting his hoard. By his side, he's got the quippy Kat who's fun, witty, and likeable.
I used to have a hard time with stories about non humans---I suppose I've always had a hard time relating to them. But when reading that Reincarnated as a spider story from a few years back, things changed. And Bob really has that same feeling of constant discovery. Not only is he plagued by dragon-esque behaviours that are completely foreign to his human memories, but he also struggles with the everyday struggles of human morality vs adapting to a new world, and it's a real fun ride to be part of.
Milc has a great vocab and nice flow to his writing. The metaphors are on point, the dialogue feels good, and his characters are distinct and unique. You can differentiate them just by their speech alone.
The story not only incorporates LitRPG elements, but dungeon building as well. Normally, again, I'm not a huge fan of dungeon builders. But this has a fresh take on it by not restricting the MC's movements to the dungeon alone.
Then to the small stuff, and incidentally the important stuff when it comes to LitRPGs.
Naming sense: The naming sense is just as fun and witty as the stories. Items may seem nonsensical at first, but they all have their unique uses.
System: The system is easy to understand thanks to Kat the nineteenth of her name and sidekick.
Feel of improvement: Bob's level ups feel satisfying and all come with noticeable changes to his battle tactics and way of life.
Pacing: Fast, but meaningful. In the six first chapters alone, A LOT, of things happen. Not in a bad way. The story really hits the ground running. He's dead, he's reincarnated, he hatches, and then go time.
Overall: Can't recommend the story enough. It's a just a well written great time. A perfect read while drinking your morning coffee, or before bed. - OdessaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a charming and funny story, written and told by an author who knows his genres and loves his readers. The blurb you see at the start is delivered upon in spades, and the concept of the book stays true to the humorous premise. Every chapter has been a delight to read and I can’t wait to see Bob reach new heights!
Style:
The style that the author, Milc, writes in fits both the genre and the concepts of the book. It’s slightly irreverent, super funny, but never overindulges in quips or cloying quirk. There are beautiful descriptions where it matters, characterization where it counts, and the pacing is impeccable.
Grammar:
Milc has clearly gone through and combed over their work. There has never been a paragraph or sentence that is difficult to read. There is high clarity throughout, and at no point was I confused by phrasing or word choice. On the off chance someone has found an error, the author has been exceptionally gracious in the comments and made corrections. Love to see it!
Story:
The story is absolutely wonderful. I’m not generally into isekai novels, but this one was making waves, so I checked it out. What can I say? I’m hooked! It truly has cross-genre appeal: fantasy elements, pop culture references, LitRPG elements, power growth, base building... and all of these are key ingredients to a delicious final dish.
Characters:
The characters all have unique voices, behaviors, and motives. I can say with certainty who is speaking which line, even if I were to read the quote out of context..
As for specific characters, I obviously love Bob. He has a strong personality, but not overpowering; very refined and nuanced which is impressive considering he’s a wee lil baby dragon! For as great as Bob is, though, Kat, the dungeon sprite, is my personal favorite character… but in truth, she shines because Bob shines. The interplay between them is fun af. I'm having difficulty thinking of another story that has a boss-and-minion vibe that is as compelling as these tw - SurilasRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A fun story, where events happen just because they are cool or funny. This book has all the silly antics you wish your favorite character would do. All of the bad consequences of the MC's poor choices are told to us with high quality writing packed full of humorous references and quips.
It is junk food though. Enjoy in moderation ;)
