When Immortal Ascension Fails Time Travel to Try Again

Description
What is my 1000-year-old monster self to do when I’ve failed my immortal ascension? Time travel — accidentally — and wind up back in my 9-year-old body, needing to re-cultivate, of course. But after that? Get REVENGE! Muahahahaha! But the idiot who killed me — also accidentally — was the main character of the dumb harem Xianxia I transmigrated into. But wait. Wasn’t he only 7 or 8 at this point in time? Well, since I can’t harm a child or the main character without suffering in some way, then I’ll just have to raise him better, faster, stronger, and loyal! Muahahahaha! This is a Xianxia comedy and satire by the author of Tanking Hits and Tome of Stealth. But it is also a series of interconnected and chronological short stories (featuring the same main characters). For example, it’s similar to the structure ofFred the Vampire Accountant series by the wonderful Drew Hayes. Updates Every Friday (2:15PM PST). Cover art created with MidJourney and edited by the author. Typography by the author. Other art within the story ranges from original author created art, commissioned art, edited stock photos and edited AI art. If you're curious about a specific image, just ask the author and they'll let you know. If you're curious about why there is only one chapter out a week, that is berceuse the author spends 10 hours over three or four days editing each chapter, ensuring the quality and humor. These hours are mentally exhausting. Comedy is hard. Over the years the author realized that some people don’t understand what satire is. There is no shame in that as it’s more complex than parody. Put over-simply, it’s a genre meant to criticize and poke fun at things but isn’t always funny. Sometimes it even goes over people’s heads. You can think of it as Sarcasm the Genre.

- Falcon9aRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0...so they stop leaving us on cliff hangers 🤣This is a very professional and well edited story with a good balance of distinct characters. It also has illustrations! And puppies!I also need 20 more words...I like that several different methods of cultivation are discussed and fully fleshed out over the different stories. The characters are balanced with being under leveled but overskilled and this is shown as them acknowledging they need protection from their seniors.I do hope to learn more about original Bloodsword and finding out what he thought about Lin, if he liked her or if he saw her as a sibling 🤔
- BookowormRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is spectacular. The author's style of writing is humorous, well paced, and doesn't at all fall into the many traps other authors do. (Stuff like all the characters feeling like the same person, making the world expand too fast at a rate the author cant keep up with, going too fast and causing burnout, or going too slow in the story line and making the novel boring, etc.) The amount of editing she does is crazy, so that does impact her upload rate (upload rate is 1 chapter per week), but the wait for quality writing is more than worth it. My least favorite part of the story would have to be the amount of profanity that's used in the book, but the warning is there for a reason so... yeah. My absolute favorite aspect of the story would be the character traits of the Mc. Her remarks are decently witty, and often include a lot of character building, completely cementing her 'mad scientist'... persona? Not really sure if persona is the right word for it. I would absolutely call this novel one of the better ones on royal road, and 100% would recommend anybody to give it a try.
- Annemieke van LoenenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a good written story, it give a nice xianxia story , but with a comocal side to it.The leadchara cter often disses the original author, while written by the original author. It has a nice development, while the lead is often op. She takes care of her younger martial brother., only because he is the lead in the original story! Certainly not because she care for him! ;) ;) ;)
- AeolunRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m not sure if I’d call it genre breaking, but it’s fucking hilarious.
From the way the main character is utterly oblivious to their own failures, to the fact they manage to constantly win though a combination of wits, being an old monster and the skill of their MC sidekick.
I never felt like any of the stories or chapters was lesser, or not up to the standard of the rest. The story is consistently funny, the characters likeable (maybe too much so), and the sect and the way they care for each other is all around wholesome.
One of the few negatives, if it can be called that, is that you are never really worried about the outcome of any given problem. The characters suffer few setbacks, if any, and there’s always some helpful (and nice!) elder around to take care of issues the protagonist can’t handle.
That’s kinda hard to avoid in the setting the story takes place, but still noticable.
Those negatives are extremely minor compared to the joy of reading the story though, and I’m certain I’ll keep coming back for more. It’s all been fantastic.
Except the crab mission. But we don’t talk about that. - CaptHammered222Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Easily one of my favorite novels on Royal Road. I feel like there's a fairly compelling story which only gets better compared to the beginning, characters who feel unique in personality and motivation, and worldbuilding that the author clearly put great effort into. The comedy is top notch !
- Darath69Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is such a great story. It's a regression story set in a world of cultivation where the main character Fairy Lin is determined to teach the male protagonist how not to be an arsehole since he killed her in their past lives.Fairy Lin's behaviour and thoughts on the other characters are quite funny while they progress on the path of cultivation. This is definitely worth a read.
- Drifter LRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, as a satire it's a little bit over the top, but I honestly could give less of a shit about that because the story is just that good.As a comedy, it's a masterpiece. As a story, it's still a masterpiece. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best stories I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. It's like a perfect blend of comedy and seriousness that creates realism. I find MC to be a very realistic type of person. Neither completely serious nor completely goofy. They'll joke around even in the worst of situations but they'll still take it seriously. And they'll still be serious while they're having fun. A lot of these types of comedy stories tend to take it too far and deflate the entire situation, essentially destroying the story for the sake of comedy. There's nothing wrong with that style, it's just that the story is pretty much missing and the entire thing is just a series of punchlines. Despite the very funny perspective of MC, the story stays grounded. MC's perspective might lead you to believe she actually doesn't give much of a shit about other people, but her actions directly prove otherwise. She takes things in stride and often thinks in very casual terms, but you can tell she's giving her full effort. Like the perspective of an actual person, the narration is flawed as shit and often misleading as hell. Characters are also very much understandable and realistically conceivable. The style is absolute perfection, obviously. Grammatically perfect in my eyes. And the story is, for lack of better words, incredibly done. The ultimate goal of MC is to reach immortality with Little Spring, and the reason? Because that's something they enjoy doing for themselves. All in all, I personally rate this story the absolute max.
- ErdosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is the transported-into-novel trope styled as satire of the most gloriously direct kind. It uses all manner of cultivation tropes to craft a good story, while not taking the world seriously at all.The protagonist takes on the male lead as “project” to keep the still young and innocent – and oh so cute – kid from the darker paths. Another trope given form, the elder sister meddling (quite successfully) with the younger brother – totally missing him beginning to see more in her. Each short-story/arc will end up with her facing off against one of the male lead's “destined ones”, kicking them out of the story, so to speak.Something for fans of bad Xianxia. Not because this one is a bad one, but you're going to have to have read one or two of those to get the full enjoyment out of this satirical take on the genre.
- CaithdeanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very enjoyable take on the transmigration/time turner tropes that has a likeable main character and cast. A nice change to the usual fare with a female main character, it bucks the trend of the harem gathering face slapping protagonist. It is great having a extremely smart and strong female lead who isn't a cynical so and so. No young mistress character here! The explanations for why she can't just solo the story are reasonable, for this type of story anyway, and when she can't do something herself she tries to help by involving others that can make a difference.
The little side story where we had the same characters in a Sci Fi scenario was great as well, showing how the characters were still fundamentally the same even with the technology different.
I'm really looking forward to this story as it develops, and sees which way the characters grow with the opportunities given to them.
The authors style is light hearted and doesn't take itself seriously, but flows well with each sub storyarc clearly noted, and with cute artwork to catch the eye. The author has started adding, in the newer chapters, little artworks of things of note in the chapters to help visualise the story as you go. - FirethornRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very creative, well written grammar and spelling wise. Doesn't get too bogged down in level nonsense, but a well crafted world, even if it has quirks. I like that the protagonist is competent but not utterly perfect. Tropes are used in the theme, but not overly done. There is a decent amount of foreshadowing of future events.Main complaint right now is that it is too short.
