As I was reading this, I had one constant distracting thought. Why are the ratings for this story so low? If I had to pick one element of this story I didn’t like, it would be the System. It’s childlike, antagonistic persona—while clearly intentional—felt like a needless distraction created to force banter for the MC. That aside, everything else about this story was spot on. We have the cliché opening, which felt very comparable to the opening of ‘Reincarnated as a Slime.’ The floundering moments of adjusting to a new body (in this case, a flame), and the key turning point for the MC’s forward progression. Introduction to the system and then an immediate plunge into survival as Jessica is forced to survive her first perilous 4 days in a dungeon.
    Note:
Our Flame MC’s monster uses a skill called Possession to take over the bodies of Monsters in order to stay alive, as her flame form is quite fragile.
Some readers appear to get hung up on this, but the functionality of this choice makes complete sense to me as I read the opening chapters.
    Style Score: 5/5
This is one of the few stories I’ve read on RoyalRoad in a while where the author’s style of writing is worth giving 5 stars to. I attribute this to the author’s voice, which was conveyed through glimmers of wit and humor in Jessica’s internal thoughts and narration. There was also a nice amount of “show vs tell” that added to the enjoyment of exploring dungeon tunnels and meeting new monsters. This unexpected layer of entertainment made settling into the story and following Jessica’s terror fueled struggle for survival all the more enjoyable.
Story Score: 5/5. Pacing is another issue that not every story gets right. Here, we have a bit of a slow start as Jessica adjusts to her new body (comparable to an MC being reincarnated as a baby—here defined as an Infant Monster), but quickly adapts out of providence and necessity due to her useful innate skill. The pacing picks up quite nicely within the fir

    Style
The writing is easy to read and flows naturally. It doesn’t feel overly complicated, which works well for this kind of story. The inner monologue is the strongest part, sometimes messy in a good way. The tone balances humor and tension nicely, though a few sections could be slightly tighter to keep the pacing sharp.
    Story
The concept is very strong and immediately interesting. Starting as something as weak as a flame gives the story a different kind of tension compared to typical isekai. The early progression feels meaningful, and the survival aspect keeps things engaging. It’s simple in structure so far, but in a good way, it leaves room to grow.
    Grammar
Overall solid. The writing is clear and understandable with no major issues that break immersion. There are occasional small phrasing or repetition moments, but nothing that takes you out of the story. It reads smoothly most of the time.
    Character
Jessica carries the story. Her thoughts feel real and relatable, and her reactions make sense given the situation. She’s not overly smart or overly dumb, which makes her easy to follow. The system adds a nice contrast and helps bring out her personality more.
    Overall
A strong start with a unique premise and a very readable style. It’s engaging, a bit funny, and has enough tension to keep you reading. Definitely promising and worth following.

Look, I went into this expecting another generic "I got hit by Truck-kun and became OP" power fantasy. What I got was a flaming bug desperately snorting to stay alive with her sidekick (her sassy system). This is genuinely funny in ways that caught me off guard. The premise is ridiculous (reincarnated as a literal torch flame) but the author commits to it completely.
The writing flows well, easy to binge without getting bogged down. The internal monologue carries most of the humor, and Jessica's voice is consistent throughout. The system messages are formatted cleanly and don't overwhelm the page like 'some' LitRPGs do.
The pacing is solid. Every time Jessica catches a break, something worse happens, but it never feels forced, just deeply, cosmically unfair (which is the point). The dungeon has layers, literally, and exploring them alongside someone who has zero combat experience and even fewer limbs makes for tense reading. The recent chapters really kicked things up a notch. Actual stakes, actual mystery, and a deal that definitely has fine print Jessica hasn't read yet. I'm genuinely curious where this is going.
The grammar is clean. No complaints. The author clearly proofreads. Dialogue reads naturally, action scenes are easy to follow, and I didn't trip over typos even once.
Jessica is the reason to read this. She's thirty-four, died a virgin (her words, not mine), and her first act in the new world is to scream that into the void so loudly it wakes up the system. She's relatable in the most ways. The dynamic with the system carries the quieter moments.
Anyways, read this. It's fun, it's fast, and Jessica's "I'm too young to die twice" energy is perfect.

I'm overall excited for this story as I just got done with one book and looking to add another story into my rotation and I really love early stuff to follow.
Starting out as a flame was so scary and I love that we don't have someone uber experienced with min maxing mechanics who can readily exploit her most likely broken innate ability which needs careful cultivation.
Looking forward to the development! I'm liking the protagonist so far as she feels very human and normal just thrust into this system.

Yo its been a bit since I've genuinely been immersed in a story. I thought we were gonna wonder the dungeon, get strong, leave dungeon, and explore the world. Instead my expectations got it ankles took by the world building in the chapters leading up to 12.
I peeped the the vendors scene from slime is here but a bit more one sided since we have no clue what will Gramps do when he is free. The back and forth banter between the system and mc is hilarious but also feels like the system does it not only for its sanity but the mc's aswell being in the situation they are in. Any normal person would freak out and get themselves killed.
The mc is a walking contradiction. She's selfish, but kind in her own way. Her reasoning for the little doggo maed complete sense. Logically. Its also kind on her part not to use her ability on something innocent which matches up with her actions in the first chapter.
Now on her using body possession when the title says she's a flame so most would assume she would be some willo wisp. This is right and wrong. Its clearly stated in the story that her existence as a flame is an idea. She a metaphor given physical form so that other reviewer can't read between the pretty big bold lines.
Overall I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a good isekai story. I haven't read the advanced chapters but im going to.

Reviewed at Chapter 19.I have found the story so far to be fresh and interesting. Not at all what I expected from an Isekai monster reincarnation. Definitely worth a read if you are looking for something that varies the normal template without throwing it completely out! I am looking forward to the rest of the second arc.

The story's just getting started, but the writing and characters are solidly written.
The fantasy systems seem on point and the bickering and light hearted  moments are a constant source of humour, which reminds me of a manga or anime in style lol u.u
    Can't wait to read more,
    Cheers!

I really enjoy stories where the MC is reincarnated as a non-human or monster, so this premise immediately caught my interest—and I think you executed it very well. The concept is engaging, and the early plot direction is clear and easy to follow, which makes it easy to get invested from the beginning. One thing I particularly like is the main character. She gives me a little bit Kumoko vibe, especially in the way her thoughts are presented. While reading, I can easily imagine Yuuki Aoi as her voice, which makes the experience more immersive and helps bring her personality to life.In terms of writing, your grammar is readable and consistent, especially for a web novel format. The pacing in the early chapters is also solid, it moves forward without feeling rushed or dragging, and each scene contributes to the overall progression of the story. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to add a bit more distinct or unique detail in certain moments to make key scenes stand out even more and leave a stronger impression.Overall, this is a very enjoyable start with a strong foundation. I’m especially curious to see how the MC develops later, whether she might reach a level similar to something like the Lord of Frenzied Flames. And I can see now that when I have power to possess other creatures, the concept has a lot of potential, and I’m interested to see how far you take it.

I found this story and read 8 chapters at once .
Author has clearly taken inspiration from reincarnated as a slime .Through that cute puppy author showed helplessness of the weak along with cruelty of world .
Also author keeps avoiding pitfalls of typical yuri reincarnation stories . Till now this story has been great . Reminds me of two of my favourites  " i  am a spider so what" "that one time i got reincarnated as a slime"

Its not bad per say, but within the first 3 chapters its shown this tendency to have an almost mature analytical thought that would advance the main characters personality, only to cut it off with a snarky remark that ruins the moment. The bickering between the MC and system is.. pointless arguing for the sake of it, doesn't serve to advance the plot, nor is it entertaining.
The profile formatting of the system is difficult to understand, but the main character seems to understand it so i as the reader am missing something i suppose.
The book heavily takes after that time i got reincarnated as a slime the most, as it is seemingly trying to emulate the bickering between companions present there. If that is the kind of lighthearted material you enjoy, this book is for you. If you prefer darker tones, you may be disappointed.
