Description

This fiction is now dropped. I'll be rewritting it as Virtual Connection: Ilaria. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/48153/virtual-connection-ilaria "Welcome to Virtual Connection. Explore, fight and date in the fantasy land of true love!" Ricardo's sister got her heart broken inside a virtual reality dating game. And he won't stop at anything to get revenge, even if it means turning into a girl! Note: This fiction is written as a cellphone novel, which means that the real chapters are short installments of a few sentences each. For Royal Road, those are collected into days and posted when they are completed. More information in the first Q & A thread. *Cover art by Yatheesh Gowda from Pixabay

I don't normally give reviews on fictions with this little content but this review is to help give another perspective due to the in depth review giving a half star for every category based solely off the prologue and the story being a gender bender.
    Style:
Starting with chapter 1 the chapters are extremely short (to give you an idea I ran a word count on 5 chapters and they averaged 151.6 words per chapter [including the chapter title posted in the chapter] [actual counts were 197, 90, 121, 185, and 165]).  Short to the point that I'm not following this fiction because of how short they are.  I'm not going to adjust this rating as to me the half star rating is arguably justified due to how short the chapters are.  If the chapters were a reasonable length I would give it a 5 and would be following the fiction to make up my mind on it.
    Story:
It's too soon to call the story since it's only at Chapter 1(6).  It looks promising but the chapter length is too short for me personally to consider following it.
    Grammar:
For a cell phone novel it's excellent
    Character:
It's too soon to call.  I like what I've seen so far but due to the extremely short chapter length for me personally it's not worth following.
    Overall Score:
This one is tough.  If it weren't for the chapters being so short I would give it a solid 4.  Since it received a half star review seemingly solely due to being a gender bender and it is clearly tagged as such I will give it a 5 to balance out the half star review.
If the half star review were to be removed I would probably change the score to a 2.5 due to the chapter length.
If the author decides to start posting longer chapters I would welcome a PM and will be happy to re-evaluate this review in light of the change.

I’m afraid I also agree with Rota’s review
The chapters being separated is not only awkward for readers but really doesn’t fit RRL. Though of course you say it’s a cellphone novel your chapter’s are really too short for a read. That’s why I’m giving style a really low point..
I’ll be rather generous and give the other aspects average points but to be honest we haven’t even gotten any story and character development. That’s why most reviews come out after a certain number of chapters are released but you post each chapter into a lot of parts that makes you release chapters that are FAR too short
I also read the poll you had which clearly stated that readers preferred whole chapters but you said that ‘it wasn’t a democracy’ and you ignore he poll results
If you can release whole chapter I’m sure more readers will choose to read your story. I’m willing to update this review if you fix the problems I stated. If you have an issue with this review fell free to message me and we can discuss this further…
edit: increased style and overall score after author reorganized chapters

it is an interesting concept but the chapters are mixed up like milena 3 and 5.

I’m not going to bother with an advanced review since the overall score is my honest overall opinion.
I don’t read cell phone novels so I don’t know if the size of these chapters are or aren’t considered the norm, but in my opinion for RRL these are MUCH TOO SHORT to justify a separate thread for each.
500 words? certainly. fewer? not really for me unless there is a clear progression and it suits the story and is frequently updated. if you’re going to post throughout the day anyways, just put them together and post that as the chapter.
I am quite a fan of Gen-Ben stories, but just like any other story worth reading, if there isn’t a story or I can’t read it without hurting my head then I will just choose to not read it. grammar is important, but having good grammar is pointless if the person spends more time loading the page than it takes them to scroll down and realize they are already done reading.
your prologue is acting as a prologue so ignoring it, make your chapters the same as your chapter 0 (but get rid of the pointless bracket numbered titles). your entire Milana chapter should be just 1 chapter if it’s going through the single event that is him creating his character, talking to the group and then signing in for the first time. there’s your beginning, middle and end, so end it there. not countless times where nothing is happening (which is also the point where people decide not to read your story)
there is not enough content over all those threads to even rate anything besides the good (not perfect, funny considering how little there is to get wrong) grammar, and early signs of potentially well-scripted characters.
maybe there is an actual cell phone novel website where you could post this instead if that is really your intent?
I will probably be back in a week or so to adjust my review, but there is a chance this ends up being my final review based on the first few updates I read.
