Not everything is as it seems in the peaceful city of Bridgeburg. And like in every city, the people who really run it are rarely the one’s you think.

Because after all, it’s not what you know, but who you know.

The bustling trade hub of Bridgeburg is as wealthy as it is divided. Money and goods flow hand over fist here, but not positions in society. At least, not until Rivashel Hali, daughter to the wealthiest merchant family, is expected to marry into nobility; a break in tradition that wakes up the entire city.

For Vice Captain of the Guard, Gricrir, the commoners' celebrations around these rumors just means more work. For Monk Urberer, it means more shirking of his responsibilities. That is until a person goes missing. Then strange disturbances are noticed on the isle.

Little does Urberer and the rest of the ragtag crew realize that the trouble they’re dipping their toes in, is deep and that the tide is rising.
