How can this be so goooood. I am in love with the FMC, she’s got so much character and the author just does the story telling so well. The skips in time are well done unlike others who try to get glimpses of the MC’s childhood and growth and gosh I love the way the author tells the stories and the characters. Rue is such a great character so far and even though she is well “built”, character development wise, you can tell she young and has more to grow and develop as a person. Love this so far and highly recommend for those looking for something to read, thanks for sharing your story with us so far author, you’ve got a great story with plenty of potential, can’t wait to see how far you take it!

Good story overall, no body horror unless you faint when a nurse draws your blood.
    Grammar: Great
    Style: Great
Story: A shunned, but sheltered girl breaks a (really big) taboo to gain power in an understandable, even rational way. It is set in a high-magic cultivation story where basically everyone has extra power, bar cripples like our MC. This means she lives in a world where even children can often overpower her. Some elements of romance, but it'll probably not go anywhere for a long time.
Characters: Good overall, with most having their own goals and personalities. My biggest issue is the MC acting like a sheltered teenager. Granted, that is who she is, but well, an unlikeable character having reasons for being that way doesn't really change anything. The story seems to be setting her up for a big wake up call, so I have high hopes for her getting better.
Lastly, the body horror. It's not there. The MC drinks a potion, feels pain, wakes up and
has her arm grow claws and turn black.
It's honestly pretty classic progression - absolutely no difference between the thousands of other stories that have the MC experience pain when ascending a stage or some such.

My girl Ruyi is among the hottest messes known to science (FOOF ain't got nothing on her) and I love that for her. She's sort of awful, but in the most endearing possible way. She's visibly a train wreck in progress and I'm just standing here praying the damage is only collateral.
    10/10, no notes.

Thank you Adastra for this lovely tale! Twinned really shows your strength in characterisation - your characters are so well written - brilliantly flawed and their perspectives are expressed in ways that only great authors can. It really felt like you got to watch the mc grow in non-op ways and achieve great climaxes in the story (though I do wish ch120 had been fleshed out just a touch). Hope you continue writing passion projects like these as I for one can't wait to read them!

When you first read through the story, you'd think the prose is simple. Nothing too special. You'd be wrong.
The author knows exactly what he's doing. Every word is deliberate. Every sentence has a powerful, focused intent to flow to the next. The author's ability to paint imagery to juxtapose his story, from rivers to walls is *exceptional*.
What about the story itself? Every single scene has a purpose, and they don't stick around longer than they need to. The main character that we follow, Ruyi, is as human as it gets. This is character depth. She is a creature of contradictions, a woman who is both sheltered and bullied, incredibly smart but hopelessly idiotic. She doesn't care what others think, but fears judgment. She desires company, but pushes all who cares about her away. It is hard to write a character like that, but the author lets her larger-than-life personality fill through the pages.
The side characters are incredible. Every character has a role to play and a life of their own, with motivations and goals that are both veiled but consistent.
Only criticism (if it even can be one), it has very strong yuri elements, and it features a lot. If that's not your thing, it may probably bother you.
Excellent story. Deserving of Rising Stars.

I enjoy reading the first 11 chapters.
The premise is great, so is the style. I end up being surprised more than once and may have shed a tear. The story telling is good and even now I can't help thinking about the future
The grammar is great as far as I am concerned.
The characters are great for the exposure we get. With different flavors and all.
The only downside I found was the long and cheesy romance in the last chapter. I would have like it better if that chapter was less repetitive.
All in all a story I will follow with attention!

From the premise I was kind of expecting it to be all grim and edgy with the mc directly at odds with her family. Instead, the mc is interesting and you can clearly see how she is shaped by her experiences and insecurities. She has engaging relationships with each of her family- each one of them strained in their own way. Also, she's an absolute gay disaster 10/10
Looking forward to seeing where it goes

I would say try the first 10 chapters and if you are on the fence keep going it gets much more emotional and nuanced. While not perfect the book does a good job making characters consistent while also adding in contradictions which makes the characters feel all that more real and three dimensional. Similarly, not all plots and plans work out and can get overturned in unexpected ways. While not quite at the same level it feels very Game of Thrones in how different peoples plots can clash and neither person really gets what they wanted, or how an antagonist can be charming and not evil but still do some terrible things. The book is fast paced which I enjoy and gives plenty of emotion and complexity despite moving the plot along quickly. That speed also means they don't linger on stuff or plot points too long, which can be a positive or negative. The one potential downside would be the author moves so quickly they don't fully flesh out parts of the world or give descriptons. I have never been a huge fan of long drawn out descriptions, but if you are just know they are not here. The author prefers to tell you there is a dragon and leave you to fill in the details rather than painstakingly describing how dragons look in this world. The lack of world building is the bigger issue for me but there is enough character work and emotion to make up for it. One example of the lack of world building would be that despite the MC being a noble and going to noble balls we never learn much about the kingdom or politics, I am not even sure if there is a crown prince or not. I think some of it works well to put you in the same shoes as the sheltered MC who doesn't really know or care about the outside world but it goes a little too far at times. Overall I really liked it and while it starts off as a quick fun jaunt if a little basic it quickly adds depth, nuance, and emotion at a level I did not expect.

Most Xianxia are focused on combat and progression, which is pretty fun. Twinned Destinies isn't nearly as focussed on combat, though it does have a pretty good progression pace.  The best parts of this novel are the characters, the tensions between different groups, and the romance.  Especially the romance.  Ruyi is 20% ambition, 20% spite, and 60% helplessly thirsty and desperate.  I would read this just to watch her flounder around trying to get a date, the rest of the novel is just a bonus.

This story has an interesting premise with a mix of western 'prophecy foretold hero to fight the demon-king' and a cultivation-world.
As I read already read ahead on patreon I can say most characters make sense and aren't one-dimensional.
Since english isn't my first language I can't say too much about style and grammar but it seems good to me.
I'm interested to see where this goes.
