Description

It's been over 300 years since every human, witch, wizard, hag, vampire, centaur, dwarf, and every other supernatural race residing on Earth suddenly found themselves on Floor Zero of the Tower. The population now sits just under 20 million, a sharp contrast to the original 8.2 billion. As a result, anyone under the age of sixteen is required to attend the Academy of Beginnings, a place designed to prepare them for the climb and uncover the mysteries of the Tower—why the System brought them here, and what lies at its peak. But with the highest known completed Floor being Floor 34… they still have a long way to go. Determined to honor his father and mother’s deaths and become the first human to reach the top of the Tower. Deacon Surtr Hayes stands on the cusp of graduating from the Academy of Beginnings, ready to claim his Tier 1 Class and ascend the Tower with his closest friends by his side. At least, that’s what should have happened. Waking up hours before receiving his first Class and finding out that not only was his father alive, but that he wasn’t even human, derailed everything Deacon thought he knew about his future and left him with many questions, the most prevalent being, “What the hell is a Jötunn?” Acts: 📖Act I Complete ✍️Act II Ongoing Schedule: 3x a week (Sun, Tues, Thurs) What to expect: [+] Weak to Strong MC [+] Multiple Weapons & Magics [+] Various Mythologies [+] Tower [+] Grimdark [+] Antihero MC [+] Jötunn Discord:https://discord.com/invite/yNxNnkCS

I am the good trickster of Asgard, breaker of oaths and brewer of schemes.A secret admirer of Jötunn. There's been some mischief that happened to the realm of Midgard, and I did not have a hand in that. For once. But I know the aroma of beautiful chaos when it stirs my nose. And Trials of the Jötunn reeks of it like blood steaming on frostbitten stone. A tower swallowed Earth, academies forge children into climbers, rusted manatech and toxic green rain chew through what's left… Huh, this world is a delightful ruin. Every floor feels like another layer of some cosmic punishment I would absolutely have designed myself. As for Deacon Surtr Hayes… mm, there’s a boy after my own heart. Half-truths in his bloodline, a heritage that would make Odin choke on his mead, and just enough conscience to make every ruthless decision land heavy. He doesn't win because the System graced him with love. The man wins because he plans, traps, adapts, and burns everything that underestimates him. Perfect. The prose? Crunchy. Fights are not clean duels. The problems to be solved with wire, glass, angles, and spite. Between the ambushes and acid storms, there's still room for quiet grief, breathing techniques, and a flickering, ash-stained father who refuses to stay properly dead. Hmm, why does it sound so familiar? If the rest of the climb keeps this blend of frost, flame, and bad decisions, this saga will be one Hel of a story.Loki approves! Don't tell Thor. He'll only get insecure.

Uuh so basically imma just write exactly how it looks to me based off the past week of me reading this....it's damn good!
The story's concept sounds interesting with its take on a Tower Climber blended with a Multiverse of some sorts (I wonder how that would pan out in the future), and so far, the characters are interesting and I'd love to see how the friend group meshes out especially with an undead skeleton. the grammar is on-point, so I won't waste any time criticizing it.
The style is also really good with the way the author changes points of view alongside the internal and external thoughts that go around.
There isn't really much more to talk about tbh, so far the story's been an amazing read and I'm already looking forward to the next chap and the one after! Pls make 5x a week!
    Thank you!

So basically this needs to be a few more words longer so I'll just start by saying recommendations of which chapters I enjoyed. Chapter 1 to 5 were cool. chaps 6-12 were awesome. chaps 13-20 were nice and the next few chaps were just as good if not better. this story does indeed fit its genres!

I'm really enjoying this story. It's is engaging with a tower / dungeon that changes the environment and threats each floor. The potential is limitless on where the story may go. While we do have a main character after the first solo part he is surrounded by his friends. It's great to get a good party who back each other up and each have skills to balance out the team. A great read and i hope it continues.

Awesome novel so far. Enjoying a fresh take on the tower climb trope. Very excited to see where this story is going to go. Just wish that there were more chapters lol. Really hope this story continues for a long time and we get to see the characters really develop

First of all, great book. It has in depth lore that we get teased with through the climb so far, plenty of times where all the characters get serious, but also plenty of banter as well. Usually books hyper focus on one or the other with jokes or seriousness, this book I find rides the line between great. The characters actually act like people in a friend group, plenty of banter and jokes, but they get serious when needed. So far the Magic system is interesting, we haven't got a ton of info yet on it, but it has potential.
One thing that is interesting is the fact that we have learned so little about all the systems of power in the world but still feel like we know enough for where we are. We know there are hints of a lot of knowledge we don't have on it all, but it doesn't feel like we are missing stuff while reading, really good balance, at least for me.
The only negative I could give, and it's such a small one to me I don't really mind it is that word choice early on is a bit rough. Repeating the same idea twice in a sentence, repeating the same sentence in different words multiple times, but that already has been mostly fixed, the latest chapters I haven't really noticed any, so don't worry people who really focus on grammar/word choice, the author fixes it quite fast.
TLDR: Great book with a lot of potential in a lot of ways, and a fast learning author.

I am really enjoying this book. When I found it, I thought it would be a standard tower climbing novel, but it has majorly exceeded my expectations. The world is very well developed and the type of tower is pretty unique, I haven't read about a similar one before. The MC and his party are a joy to read about. This review was not the most eloquent, but I really enjoy this story and look forward to every update. One would be remiss to not even at least try this out.

Do I think this is the perfect work, best thing that's ever graced this earth? na.
Is it satisfying to read with the right amount of mystery and an interesting world building that separates it from other stories? hell ya.
It doesn't blow me out the water, but the story is well written and keeps the intentions of the reader in the right areas. There are small mysteries that get uncovered and bigger ones that you are drawn into, the action is thought out, and the characters clearly have brains (big W). The world doesn't feel like it's just been built up, it does feel like you've 'joined' a world rather than started one.
My only critique would be in how obvious the plot direction is, it's pretty standard in terms of progression, the only difference would be that the MC actually has friends (who aren't just side characters to show how great the MC is).
The author clearly has put thought into the world before, I really hope the story continues, and doesn't drop off randomly like others do!
(Totally not doing this for bonus chapters)

I do like this story so far, it follows an odd path of dungeon diving where humanity is actually stuck within a dungeon. The main storyline with the MC has been exposed too early, with no mention of a resolution or progress for probably the last twenty chapters, which is somewhat fine because the last twenty chapters have been good, if not a little short and very sporadically posted.I like this story, but when posting so infrequently it becomes hard to remember characters names and previous plots, so I think it would behoove the author to increase the frequency of posting, because I really dig it, but if I read another short chapter where I don't even remember the characters I'm going to drop the story. It has a new twist that is breaks from the normal mold, it has a compelling level up system which does not make much sense for power, it seems to be a lawless dungeon which I don't believe so much of humanity would have survived, and I am curious to see where the story goes.

I overall like the book. It’s a tower theme, with hints to greater things. The characters are interesting and they have some of their own separate side stories.I think the pacing or chapter length might be off as it feels like very little progression happens in each chapter leading to a long time spent on each floor.
