Description

Fabulous riches, unfathomable power, and the undivided attention of the girl she's obsessed with—that's the offer the Jovians made to Rachel. All she has to do is sign the dotted line. Ten years ago, the planet Jupiter vanished from the night sky. That same day, the Jovians announced their presence on Earth by gifting magical powers to teenage girls. Then one of those girls—one of the first witches—blew up Texas. Now the Jovians are more selective, and they only choose adult women to join their war as magical girls and witches. Rachel has always had an interest in magical girls, but it became an obsession when she learned that her own roommate, Sophia, was secretly Strix Striga, one of the most powerful and respected magical girls in all of North America. Sophia’s double life as a heroine has left her without any time for Rachel—and the witches she fights get all the attention from Sophia that Rachel desperately craves. It’s infuriating. It’s untenable. But now Rachel is a witch, and one that the Jovians have taken a special interest in. With their guidance and her own burning drive, she’ll grow her power until she’s ready to challenge the invincible Striga. And then, at long last, her precious Sophia will be hers. I love this take on magical girls!! Every reference to MTG (the Smothering Tithe/Monologue Tax reference sold on this story) and fighting games makes me smile greatly. It's nice to see my two favorite pastimes mentioned in such a relatable way. When this gets printed, I'll totally buy it. Keep up the good work.

I feel compelled, pulled along, it's great for every second I just want more.If you think you might like a good story that aligns with the premise laid out in the opening, then you will love this one, a perfect version.Never have I rooted for a failgirl villain more in my life.I immediately went to the patreon and read every patreon chapter as soon as I finished the regular chapters and it was super worth it.

I honestly don't know how to describe this properly, but i'll try.
It's a great story with a fun protagonist who seems to flipflop between normal girl and YANDERE, it's really fun.
the upload schedule is consistent and the characters feel real so far, they do their own thing in the background instead of just reacting to the protagonist. and while her powers are powerfull they need work to use and learn to master, so it's neither a power-fantasy nor a constant parade of misery, she'll get smacked around on ocasion but actually seems to learn from it.
Also, YURI, can't forget the YURI

Honestly this is my first time reading about a fic involving magical girls as i never liked the idea, and i must say i am liking it a lot. It is full of style, action and plot is surprisingly quite good. Interesting powers, full of intrigue and the occasional yuri. The chapter i am at, it gets from good to one of the best I've read

A story that has it all, I love this story, it's amazing. While perhaps not the best webfic I have ever read it's easily earned a top 10 spot among hundreds of other novels I have read.I have no complaints about the pacing (this basically never happens. I always complain about the pacing!), the characters are great, especially the protagonist.I see no issues with the grammar and this story also has an actually defined plot. And it doesn't beat around the bush. There's a continuous steady progress for the actual main plot. Eyes firmly on the prize. This story delivers exactly what it promises, and does it without fail. It's not rushed, it's not too slow, it's the best version of itself that it could be. A story written right.A relatable nerdy yandere protagonist that hasn't gone all the way off the deep end yet. An interesting love interest that admittedly we haven't seen enough of yet (hoping the next arc changes that). A magical girl version of earth where the source of magic powers doesn't just get hand waved away, and plenty of interesting and promising anragonists visible around the horizom. The setup has been nothing short of perfect, and I can't wait to see where it goes. This is what I was hoping for when I saw mahoako.

Occasional style issues, the prose isn't perfect, yeah, and the dialogue is corny; yet I can't wipe the grin off my face. The plot actually moves pretty quickly, and I'm continually pleased by how compact and well-structured this serial is. It posts pretty slowly, but you can't complain about that as long as the quality stays high.
So far, I give it ten slops out of ten

Why I love this:The worldbuilding, which raises questions and makes you think things don’t quite make sense, then slowly reveals that you were right to think that all along…The main character is a lesbian yandere little psycho who’s just so different from most main characters and very endearing (also a girlfailure, especially at the start)The writing is very good and witty but serious when it needs to be, just good proseI keep thinking I know the direction the plot is going in, only to be surprisedThis really sells magical girls and witches, which aren’t a particular thing I’m normally intoThis book causes physical pain when you’re caught up on the latest chapter

Imagine American Madoka Magica, but more fluffy and from Homura's perspective. Author nailed the usual magical girl tropes, the fight scenes are easy to follow and visualize, and you can feel the yearning, the aching, the craving our MC has for Striga in the first few chapters. If you want a nice magical girl story, with a balance of toxic and fluffy yuri, this one's got a lot of potential!

This story is such a delight to read. It has all the essentials. The nonstop yearning, the unhealthy level of attachment, and of course a complete lack of communication.
You should read this story if you like reading about:
    -Magical girls
    -Yuri
-A main character who has the energy of a milk soaked webkinz being thrown against the wall

I read the first 17 chapters on patreon and I love it so far. The main character is very likable but also unique in her priorities (as seen in the title :)) The magic system is also a nice combination of magical girl tropes with some improtant and flavorful changes. Overall a very fun read.
