Description

Sometimes the best path forward is the one you carve yourself—no matter who gets cut along the way.

Nine years after transmigrating into a child's body in the endless sprawl of the Big City, Lin Yue has carved out a meager existence through wit, knife work, and a warped moral compass.

Living in the Tiger Gang's squalid den, she survives by meeting daily quotas through pickpocketing, while dreaming of a way beyond the city's endless maze of poverty and desperation. When she's assigned to help a seven-year-old Xue acclimate as the gang's newest mark collector, it's just another bother.

A chance encounter with a demonic cultivator upends her carefully balanced life in Endless City’s dismal streets and Lin Yue finds herself thrust into the dangerous world of cultivation politics.

Strange powers and even stranger opportunities present themselves, forcing her to choose between conventional paths of power and something altogether more dangerous. But in a realm where "righteous" cultivators prove just as corrupt as their demonic counterparts, perhaps her sharp wit and sharper tongue are exactly what's needed.

With a mysterious new master, dwindling funds, and Xue's fate becoming inexorably tied to her own, Lin Yue must navigate a world of demon houses, soul theft cultivation, and ancient powers.

Her unorthodox approach to cultivation might just be her greatest asset—or the thing that gets them all devoured.

If you're looking for a transmigrator cultivation story that doesn't have the MC end up in a cushy, safe life in a sect, but face the realities and struggles of the downtrodden and underground environments filled with hypocrites and demons, then you'll love this story.
Lin Yue is a strong young girl that's seen it all, and has developed a jaded personality due to it. Though the blurb says she will be a gray character, she is still someone that values loyalty , and isn't a basic heartless or emotionless person. She still has her own personal morals and principles she abides by, even if she has to be ruthless to survive in the world.
Really enjoying the worldbuilding, the grittiness of life from the perspective of weak mortals in a world where powerful cultivators and sentient mystical beasts exist. Since it's a world where those with power tend to have it all, the culture is far more brutal than you expect, but it also makes coherent sense when you consider the setting.
I also enjoy the mascot character, little Shadow. Need a bit of quirkiness in this story, and he's a real fun bit to read.
Also very good grammar and english quality as well, as expected from a seasoned author.
Keeping an eye on this story, check it out if you've come this far as well

The characters are captivating and feel that they leap off the page, struggling in a gritty, harsh, cruel, dank City.   Crawling with heartless deeds and blind justice.  Struggling against a life of a criminal that tries to keep a small piece of family safe, trying to hold to her values and does not come across as heartless
The writing is to a high standard and draws you into the well fleshed world and leave you wanting to read more.  This is a great read and one I will continue to return to in the hopes of more.
Thank you, this is AWESOME and presents a mortal taking their careful and desperate steps into the murky undercity of Demonic creatures and cruel righteous monsters and still keep to her core character.

I'll be running light on the details because this delightful cultivator rollercoaster needs to be read, not skimped.
Tossing the usual transfer Iskari tropes to the side, a gritty, sweaty, living, bleeding realm is the background of desperation and survival that drives the protagonist to survive as best she can, knowing and living a life that makes no bones in showing just how much of a luxury a conscience and morals are, against the dreadful necessities of living with teeming millions trying to do the same.
And THEN add in demonic cultivation.
Read it - this is the good stuff.
