Description

Being a cheerleader is easier than being a werewolf.

Jessica Tumbleleague is a typical teenage girl who loves being a cheerleader at Moondale High. But after an encounter with a werewolf in the woods, Jessica discovers a frightening world she never thought is real. Dangerous magic, deadly fierce spirits, and other malevolent creatures. Now Jessica must fight the forces of darkness to protect her hometown while balancing her supernatural life with her high school life. But can she control the beast within herself?

The Werewolf Cheerleader | Royal Road

P.S, there is a Werewolf Cheerleader short story published in the Tales of Dungeons, All Hallows book. Titled The Werewolf Cheerleader: Castle and Ghouls. The short is also in first-person, which made me decide to change the book series into first-person. The link is below if you want to check it out. Also, the book cover is AI generated from Dalle-3.

This is a great update to the story. I’ve been a long time reader of werewolf cheerlead. I’ve read the original two book he put out then took down to rewrite them then the new three on his other account and now this one. Out of all of them this one is the best. No romance at the start but a lovely werewolf killing two humans that is a wonderful opening to a werewolf novel. There mysteries, action, and death so far. With a werewolf novel like this the moon is no limit. Sorry for the bad pun. Can’t wait to see more from the new books I'm howling with excitement. Sorry again bad habits die hard like werewolves.

There are some issues with this story. The general beats are very teen wolf but female. In high concept its good, in execution its not. Detention to 10pm, saying the inverse of whats implied, small editing issues that would need to be fixed that a Grammer check will not catch.
The bigger issue however is how cliche/unbelievable some plot points are. High-school kid just happens to know hypnosis when the plot demanded it. Serial killer from the 1800s known about in modern times? Surviving in a cave without food for multiple years? Two miners being paid to keep a tapped mine functioning? Facts are warped to fit plot, not world well crafted with a plot within. The entire story feels forced and artificial unfortunately because the writing is decent, characters have their own voices and it has a lot of potential if the story wasn't shoehorned in.
