Description

Surviving should be easy—except when your own mind is out to get you. Between the cryptic voices, an absurd power called Compatibility, and the occasional near-death experience, I’m starting to think the universe just enjoys watching me suffer.

An evolution is coming, and it’s going to change every living being, and this is just the start of what happens in my chaotic life. What does it mean for the world? Nothing good.

I am Arthur Cain, the narrator of my own story. Just a kid scraping by in a world where even adults couldn’t. Whether it’s the absurd moments where I could die at any second or the small, fleeting ones with my family—this is my life.

What to expect.

An smart mc Who gradually develops and isn't limited to one thing.

Side characters who aren't a drag but someone who really help.

Smart and clever antagonist and villains.

The story has an excellent premise. Having several voices or multiple personalities has always been one of my favorite tropes and genres, so I am really curious to see where this is going. Currently at chapter 4, I think this deserves already 5 stars to gain more visibility.
    Regarding each category.
Style 5/ 5:  I definitely thought I would hate the style more, but the short, action-filled sentences are a win, and flow very nicely when reading. Reminds me of Blake Crouch.
Grammar 5/5 : I saw no issues at all.
Story score 4/5: This is the only point where the story would need a bit of polishing. The flow is natural, but there are a couple of jumps in the story which were hard to grasp in the first few chapters, e.g. he is on the stretcher and someone is experimenting on him, but then Fang takes over (kills that dude I guess) and starts feeding on others. I feel that just a little bit more explanations would make for an amazing story. The same happens when he's suddenly in the dumpster, transforming into Fang and then has a conversations with his alternate selves- just a bit more background infromation about the setting would be extremily valuable and wouldn't distrub the flow.
Character 4.5/5 - since it's still early, I think that the characters are well written, each has a unique voice, and also the main character seems to be likeable enough, with parts of wit and humour shining through.

    Style Score (4/5):
The Way Of Evolution is a tome of darkness and despair—and that’s a good thing. The first three chapters might be a bit rough to get through, but once you hit chapter four, the style improves significantly. The hooks settle into place, and the story starts to flow much better. However, the beginning might turn some readers away before they get to the good part, so it’s worth pushing through.
    Story Score (5/5):
At its core, the story thrives on mystery—how Arthur’s evolution works, how his personalities (or entities) function, and what kind of power he’s really dealing with. The fact that he gets a six-month head start over other humans is a brilliant touch. It’s not an overpowered isekai-style "golden finger," but it does give him an edge without making things too easy. Still, he’s just 11 years old—so his growth is a challenge, and that makes things interesting.
There are also a bunch of questions for us to delve into:
    - Was he naturally born this way, or is he the result of something bigger?
    - How do his personalities know so much?
    - Was his brother’s involvement just a coincidence, or is there something more behind it?
    Grammar Score (5/5):
The grammar is solid. I only noticed one missing word, so it’s pretty clean overall. Nothing that would pull a reader out of the experience.
    Character Score (4/5):
Arthur is suffering from the start, but thankfully, he doesn’t dwell too long in existential crisis mode. His mindset feels older than an average 11-year-old, which helps keep the story moving at a good pace. He does take a bit too long to believe in things that should be obvious (no spoilers), but he’s still a likable main character.  Sadly, I didn't see many other characters.
Also, having an MC with multiple personalities means there’s always someone for him to talk to, even if it’s just himself.
    Overall Score (4.5/5):
Overall, it's a good story, and I hope everyone can at least read the first 4 chapters 🙂
