A bildungsroman-style fantasy, focusing on Illysa, a girl fleeing the constraints and expectations of her religious community who lands herself instead in a far larger pot of social backstabbing, hidden histories and a looming war. In a world foreign to her, she must make allies and prove her worth in order to have a chance at surviving it.
