Description

Lisbette is the heir to the noble Duchy of Drakuhl, the next in a line of warriors who have defended the Horizon since the age of the Lady of Light. For Lisbette, however, this life is not her first—and it is not unfamiliar to her. She must learn to harness not only her natural powers, but also the knowledge she has inherited from her previous life in order to survive her adolescence in a world she once thought to be fiction. What other secrets lurk in her subconscious? Can she escape the fate she’s foreseen, or will she be swallowed by her destiny?

This novel is not abandoned. I'll be back in a bit.

It's been an enjoyable read so far. The characters are mostly enjoyable and realistic. The MC isn't too bad either. A lot of stories spend too much time in the childhood phase with absurdly glacial pace but it isn't the case here, the story is moving along at a fair speed while still showing some important events that shape our protagonist character! Pretty rare if you ask me :V

This is one of those underrated gems on Royal Road. It is beautifully written, with fun, engaging characters. I hope it gets more attention, because it truly deserves it. At present, I have just finished arc one, which featured our 6 year old protagonist being heroicly stupid, and dealing with the reprecussions of her actions. I'm eagerly waiting for more.

The vfillainess route doesn't deviate much from the genre at first glance, but the more I read it the more I started appreciating the details. It has the beginnings of an interesting plot beyond the usual for the genre, the exposition is tastefully woven throughout the text, and the characterization is on point!
Our little Bette is a strange child, and does not act as one should. But this is one of the few stories where I feel that it's justified and that we will likely find out the reasons she acts and has been raised this way as we continue reading. And it is not the usual adult personality becoming dominant, Lisbette has remained mostly herself with the memories acting more as a catalyst than anything else, and I think she'll deviate more and more from the standard reincarnated villainess as times goes by and the plot unfolds. There's some neat worldbuilding in her characterization that I really enjoy!
Secondary and tertiary characters are similarly interesting. The relationship between Bette and Tilly is just adorable, and I am even interested in figuring out why her parents are so terrible at parenting.
I think it's one part that they're actually this terrible at it, one part that being dragonkin gives them different sensibilities and requirements, one part tradition, and lastly some spicy plot reasons
The grammar is consistently good, style-wise I think the way exposition is handled is just well done. I've removed half a point from the story and characters even after gushing the rest of the review because as well done as it is, I don't particularly enjoy child protagonists as it slows down things a lot. The other huge negative is that there aren't another 1000 pages to read of this story!
Overall a very enjoyable story and one I will follow in the future.
