I love it when I am dropped into a plot and am left on my own to figure out what is going on. That is what this story does. It felt like it dropped me three-quarters of the way through the story. You can miss me with endless exposition and tedious explanations for every detail. The author did a great job of providing enough clues so that instead of being lost and confused, I was hooked thoroughly from Chapter 1.
The story is told in the third person and maintained a constant perspective from the same character throughout. That is my favorite way of reading a story. The chronology is straightforward, with no flashbacks or time skips. The pacing is good, it was very easy to follow.
The story feels like we are just getting to the best part of the tale, skipping the introduction and build-up. This is a great way to keep the reader's interest and leaves it up to the author's skill to fill the details in without boring the reader.
The grammar is mostly good. The spelling and word use were very good. I was slightly thrown off by the way of using quotation marks. There were opening and closing quotes around individual sentences, even if the same person continued speaking. Otherwise, I did not notice any grammar issues.
The characters in the story are colorful and distinct. There are accents and individual mannerisms that bring the story to life. The main character comes across as a reluctant anti-hero, willing to do whatever he needed to do, but minimizing unnecessary pain or damage along the way. My single biggest issue with the whole story came from a single line given by the MC when he was trying to talk sexy. It was over the top for me. Aside from that one little bit, I enjoyed the entire story, and I look forward to seeing where it goes.

Interesting premise. Just from reading a few chapters, it's pretty clear that the author as a wordsmith is top notch. I've heard rumors that it's just a warm up project for the author. Taking that into account, it blows my mind to think of the level of artisanship we mere mortals will bear witness to, as and when the talented author graces us with the full extent of his artisanship that is certain to be from a higher plane.
But for now, let's all enjoy the excellent little appetizer this novel is turning out to be.

Story:  In a world we're adultery is as bad as cannibalism, we meet a man trudging into a maddening mire with a group of cannibals in search for a witch. If that piques your interest, just read the story - no need for this review.
    Plotlines/Events.
We start of with setting the scene, meeting inhabitants of a small village before the cast is gathered together. Solid actions scenes, as the group have skirmishes and then a battle against an 'edlrtich horror' [ no spoiler :) ]
General premise is interesting and world building is solid and slow, without any info dumping. Not sure where the Grimdark comes in, but we're early days -> and this is the cleaner version. And tbf, my tolerance for grimdark is probably high.
    Style:
Dialogue is great, with everyone having their own individual voice (or grunt, in the case of flint). Description is fluid, and works well with the pace. Nothing too verbose, but there are a few awkwardly phrased sentences. Nothing that will stand out.
Minor tendency to over use the word 'as'. I think i only noticed it in two chapters. Again, very minor point.
Grammar: Almost perfect. No real complaints.
    Characters:
Love the cast. They all have unique voices, and very fitting names. For being hardened criminals, they're quite likeable. MC is also great. Underdog-eqsue character, with a clear flaw with his inability of magic, despire being noble.
Author does a great job, even with side characters. Really did feel sorry for the chet and his pa.
    Also, cover art is amazing

Good starting. Intriguing plot. Straightforward writing and excellent vocabulary. As an author, even I don't have enough vocabulary in my head. Like the way everything was explained. It's just the name of the book made me laugh. Waiting for more chapters. I want this book to be completed. Good luck, Author! Do your best!
