Description

While most cultivators were scratching their heads as they pondered how to advance to the next realm, Li Lang was busy systematically studying the mechanics of cultivation.

Scientist Langley Seiker has always dreamed about immortality. Reincarnating into a world of cultivation, it is no longer a dream except for the fact that he has no talent. However, through a chance encounter, he gains access to his familiar laboratory that will allow him to study the wonders of cultivation.

Not even the heavens will know what fate has in store for Langley as he systematically unravels not only how to cultivate, but also various crafts such as refining pills and inscribing talismans. Preparation is key to surviving in the merciless world of cultivation, especially for those with no talent.

Expectations:

- Detailed study of each stage of cultivation and crafting

- Not technology vs cultivation, scientific method will be used to study cultivation

- No harem

- Slow burn progression. MC won’t be skipping through cultivation ranks at record speed

- Weak to Strong

- Sect Building (Much later in the story)

  • I generally like this type of novel where it's Chinesey but.... This one just didn't click with me. Which isn't bad. Just slower burn than I am used to is all. Read to to 34. Wish the mc was a little stronger... Seems weak but I guess it's early ...

Style: The style is good, I like the pacing since we get to skip the boring parts and focus more on the results which I like instead of waiting dozens of chapters for each experiment, although this also means certain parts could use a bit more description. The progression of the plot and power of the mc is good as well.
Story: The story is not the most original out there and has some cliches especially in the first chapters but even so it's still very fun and well done. The mc reincarnated, his family gets attacked by Demonic cultivators and he gets an op Artifact. While the start might be a bit cliche I like how it progresses and how mc utilizes his Artifact, alone the Artifact is pretty op and allows lots of experiments without consequences, but since it also integrates mcs knowledge it's even better. Mc has to learn about cultivation stuff through research and experiments, so far it's been very fun and I'm excited to see what happens next since there are a lot of possibilities. I also like how the cultivation world is a bit less grim and bloodthirsty than some of the other cultivation stories while still retaining the usual cultivator edge.
Grammar: The grammar is great, I don't remember seeing any errors.
Characters: The characters are good, the mc is interesting since being a scientist is basically his personality. He mainly spends his time experimenting or doing various tasks and activities to further his goals. He loves to experiment and learn, and it's pretty clear he's kind of nerdy and sometimes spaces out thinking about stuff. He's great, I like him but I feel like he could use some more interactions and friends. His Artifact is good but mainly just follows mcs commands and lacks personality so far. His family only appear for a while but they seem nice. The child mc meets is fun, he's very shy but I like him, I also like how he wasn't abandoned and still plays a part in the story and it seems he's here to stay. The non hostile cultivators are good so far,

A unique take on the cultivation genre while being set in a very basic/typical cultivation world.
The scientific process of figuring out cultivation is fun to read and makes the reader want to stick around for the eventual research breakthroughs.
Someone needs to fire the warding crafters in this world though because they all seem to be incompetent and useless. Demonic cultivators flying in and killing/kidnapping people anywhere MC goes. Where are the alarm wards and defense wards since the sect members carry tokens.
Excited to continue reading. Still early on in the story at this time so my review score reflects this.

I never know what to expect with cultivation novels, but this one is extremely well done. The pacing is perfect, the character creation is excellent, the plot is steady. Overall a really good binge read. Helps that there are a lot of chapters and the author does a good job of steadily building the MC’s power and sect. Excited to see how he grows into the next realm.

I really enjoy the deep study and reference to scientific materials, regardless of the accuracy of any specific fact from the book.
I find it refreshing to see how the righteous sects are put in more of a bad light. It's something you'll often see in many books, but the way the author handled it was its own unique way.
I really like it and followed him on Patreon for the additional chapter.

I just recently finished reading all the available chapters, and I have truly enjoyed it immensely! I am a researcher and I really like how mc approaches all the cultivation crafts and practices. It is a very well thought out magic system and at the same time is fun and intriguing.

    This story is actually "sciency"
Properly writing a story based on showing how science is done to find out things in any new world is hard, because, to a large degree, science is just repetition/systematic investigation, and showing that in detail will not be entertaining. In fact, it starts off a bit weak in this aspect, into the other extreme, with the science being done not being shown.
As MC has an "auto analyzer", into which he just puts things, and gets an answer
But later it very much improves, and the author finds a good middle ground between showing too much and showing to little. By now, I quite like the story.
The tone of the story/MC is a bit cold/detached, but I think it fits well with the theme, and other characters still provide some color.

It started good, continued good and going good overall. Don´t remeber the bad things because i dont remember many, just the differences with other works. Specially about Demonic cultivation, Like it would normally happen in Life, "the Good people" wants to give implement the rules, not that they are all bad people but want a stable life. In Contrast, the Demonic sects wants their life fullfilled no matter the cost. Till today 14/10 havent really grasped the overall situation of the world,  (Nascent or Inmortal Civilization) I mean if their civilization have recently (like less than a 100k years) gotten any inmortals or if their realm have a existed since the start of their universe, with inmortals and all of that.

I put off reading this story because of some negative reviews. Turns out you can't trust reviews. Sure it gives some guidelines of the story. But the rating still stand very correct, 4.5/5 in my books.
It is a interesting story, it has a different approach to cultivation, but still being cultivation. It is a unique story by itself. Even though some may say, typical xianxia. I would say, what isn't? In the end it is about progression and how the character grows.
I find the progression to be enjoyable in this story, especially because it is the basic formula, weak to strong. It just works. The setting is different and what is well made, is that there is mystery to the story. Not every story has that. This one do have several of mysteries that will keep you interested in how things will work out. That is the charm of a story and the author has captivated just that.
That said, I am a fan for progression and this story scratches that itch.
The story explores the differences between righteous and demonic, it is not as black and white, which some stories make it to be. I think that is a refreshing touch.
Some things comes easy, but there is still the struggle in a well-balanced manner. And there is that awe factor, where you can read about the people around the MC being stunned, shocked or amazed. It is enjoyable to read, that he indeed is special, yet have many hurdles to overcome. A good balance between rewards and trials.
My final words is that leave the negative reviews and read it for yourself. Reviews are still very biased and a personal experience. This story was worth my time and I will continue to read forward. It just an enjoyable story to read, so I would recommend to try it yourself. Go for it!

A good read. If you have an interest in the Xianxia genre and cultivation in general yet might have thought "What if someone actually tried to apply a scientific approach to it to unravel it's secrets " Well this is the book for you.
Essentially no grammatical errors I could find. Enjoy. (Still pretty early in the book so review reflects the point im at)
