The Ruins of Tomorrow™

Two years after a devastating alien bombardment that halved Earth's population, we follow Alexander, a young man who refuses to give up on the world he once knew. Living in the ruined metropolis, one morning he spots something shiny in the distance and runs towards it, only to fall into a massive sinkhole. Days later, he wakes with severe injuries and limps through what appears to be an old subway tunnel, discovering a partially blown-out blast door. Crawling through the crack, he finds a large white room with medical equipment and other devices that look like something out of a science fiction novel. In the middle, surrounded by foliage growing through the floor, is a glass cube with a little girl inside. Her expression mirrors how Alexander felt when he watched his little sister fall into a sinkhole and die in front of him. Refusing to let this girl suffer the same fate, he approaches the glass cube. It retracts, revealing the girl who looks up at him, her eyes softening with a glimpse of hope. She frowns, noticing his injuries, and manipulates the foliage around them to heal his wounds instantly. Their moment is interrupted by a large metallic serpent ripping through the floor. Alexander picks up the girl and sprints towards the exit, barely making it out with their lives. As the girl holds on tightly, as if he might disappear, he vows to protect her and find out why she was left behind.
