Description
On Earth, Draden was alone, building his home on the side of a lake in a desperate bid to escape the world. Now, he’s a father with the world’s cutest daughter and a missing wife. Draden awakens from death's embrace to a life he didn't choose—in the body of a drunkard who has failed his beloved, half-elf daughter, Leah. His once powerful cultivation is shattered, and his past is a wreck, but he has a secret weapon. His memories of another world and a mysterious system that lets him summon ingredients from Earth. He trades his sword for a spatula, discovering that Earthly ingredients and the resulting cuisine have miraculous effects in this new world. A simple burrito can mend broken meridians, and a fresh-baked biscuit can soothe old wounds. His cozy restaurant, built from the ground up, becomes a beacon of hope for the weary and the wounded. But his success is a double-edged sword. Every dish he serves attracts more powerful and dangerous attention. A volatile City Lord and a ruthless noble see him not as a chef, but as a prize to be controlled. They threaten his home, his freedom, and the one thing he will not allow them to touch- his daughter. With Leah’s own prodigious magic beginning to awaken, Draden must master his unique culinary power to protect the only family he has left. Can a chef armed with a skillet and a growing book of Earthly recipes stand against the cultivators and mages who want to devour him whole? ---------------------------------------------This story is a departure from my normal ones and is definitely an experiment. (Note: As with my other stories, this one focuses more on the characters than on constant action. Though it does admittedly have more action than most of my other stories.) Author's Note: This is my raw, mostly unedited, first draft text. I am using RR to test out this story as I'm writing it to get a feel for how the published and edited copy will be received. Certain sections of the story will be changed or added to when I publish it as well. However, that said, all attempts to edit the story will be deleted, unless they are correcting AN ACTUAL ISSUE! IE a forgotten word, a misspelled word, things of this nature. Grammar does not count, because guess what, grammar in fiction is vastly different from grammar in academia. All you grammar nazis know less than jack-all about the grammar in a story, because the grammar in a story is up to the author (within reason). A man just getting by by himself finds that he is given a chance at a new life and is blessed with a child that loves an need him.
He is doing the best he can for her and makes you pull for him win. that's what think so far it is still early. - KohelethRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As a father of a precocious child who enjoys experimenting with recipes, I enjoy this story immensely. I don't have accounts on other platforms so I cannot see the actual recipes, but the author tells enough that I can picture the food as its made, while not getting too detailed. The author mixes together cozy baking and interactions that are a slice of real life. I also like how the mc connects with other characters who do not flaunt their power or advantage. I am eager to see how this story develops.
- Stone o'MountainRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well written, heart warming story with small amounts of drama and lots of cooking.
The pacing is decent, the characters are believable, a bit too kind to my sensibilities, but then I don't have a 5 year old acting as my social validation.
hopefully with these words I can Finally get the word count satisfied. - novacore097Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5So far I am enjoying it the story and hope others will to.From what I can tell there is little to no Grammer mistakes the pacing is at least good for a slice of life story with a side of cultivation.Plus the Mc does have motivations so the characters themselves aren't one or two dimensional
- LVirdenRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So far I have gotten about 2/3 of the way thru chapters...I am hoping more are to come.
I identify some what with the MC without the experience of addiction. My life hasn't been great, and I am old now and without my daughter.
So I love seeing the reconciliation with family, the hard work making a positive lifestyle change, etc.
I have high hopes for this story. - sirus_baineRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Its a good story I’ve enjoyed every chapter so far its a nice comfy/chill read so thanks author you’re doing great so keep it up
p.s totally think you should give this a read
p.s.s ignore this just have to get enough words out for this review so dont mind me - Hgt23Royal Road★★★★ 4.0It's a interesting story not bad but a little slow it most likely for people who like a slow casual story don't be wrong I've read stories like this and have enjoyed them greatly but this story just doesn't really sunk it hooks into me it's just not that interesting and the story is a little bland but it not bad it a good story I only really got 5 chapters into the story but that doesn't mean someone else might enjoy the story it a interesting thing I've read stories with similar plot and those stories really grabbed my attention but this one really doesn't it just feels like a lot of nothing at the beginning like as I sead it more of a slow pace kind of thing but it just feels that not a lot happens in the first 5 chapters now I understand it's just the first 5 but even then there could have been a way to really grab the readers attention but there really wasn't that now is it bad absolutely not it a interesting story just a bit boring and with a whole not if nothing at the beginning in my opinion the main character seems a bit flat
- AemorRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story is warm and enjoyable but it leaves me wishing the chapters had a dash more substance.
I do recommend for anyone to read.
These are just words to meet minimum of review requirements. You can add the following to pizza if you want: pineapple. Who really cares anyway
