Description

Lord Dread was the first lich in history, and the greatest magical prodigy the world has ever seen. The Gods themselves feared his potential, and they banished him for it. They should have been more thorough. After freeing himself from his prison of countless millennia, Lord Dread finds that his powers have been diminished, and that his body is now that of a baby girl. Born to an aristocratic family, and with a fresh chance to begin re-learning magic in a better way than he taught himself originally, his sights are soon set on regaining his former glory. He must learn about this strange new time period he's found himself in, rebuild the dark empire that he once used to challenge even the Gods, and then, finally, take revenge on the fearful divinity that saw fit to strike him down in the past. This would be easier, if girls could inherit land, but Lord Dread has never been one to let a little something like that get in his way.

Overall Score: 5/5Despite the somewhat tedious prologue, this story quickly piqued my interest. Our *Dread MC* has a rather unique personality, one might expect from a Lich King trapped in some form of divine purgatory for a few centuries or more, only to be born into the body of an infant noble girl.As with most stories that begin in infancy, the pacing was a tad on the slow side, but it picked up as the author and our MC embraced her new identity as a prodigy. The rebirth gave the Dread Lord, now called Isabel, some advantages—such as avoiding mistakes made in their past life, self-learning magic—while placing a seemingly benign disadvantage of being female in a world where evidence of patriarchy is already visible. Benign in that her importance automatically skyrocketed the moment she was perceived to be a prodigy mage while still a toddler, enough so that she became the target of a kidnapping within the first 10 chapters.Style: 4.5/5. The pacing of this story is a curious thing. At times when I wish the author would provide more detail, we are swept up in action. Conversely, at times when I wish the author would be more succinct, we are bogged down with passive details. This might lean more toward opinion/preference, or the simple fact that this is likely an early draft of the story overall.Overall, the style lacked a lot of visual detail to the extent of being a blank canvas, where we are told what happens and left to visualize it however we please. Add to this the frequent POV changes in the same chapters, which were a little jarring at times.Story: 5/5. I have high expectations so far. Since I’m only 12 chapters in, though, the description above will suffice.Grammar: 5/5. I listened to this on audio and didn’t notice any issues.Character Score: 4.5/5. The MC presents a strong personality of indifference, which makes them interesting with a quirky likability. The rest of the cast (particularly those given POV time when needed) fill their roles while not really

A 'grounded' fantasy story that is somehow filled with great chicanery.
The magic system is softer in specifics but gives enough structure so characters aren't pulling victory out of their hats.
There's seasoning of intrigue overtop of a foundation of the second attempt to dominate all of existence.
The family drama is not overpowering the rest of the story though it has a large chunk of it currently. If you like the absolute perfect family with no problems at all this might change your tastes a little.

Took me some time to get started.
The concept did not convince me that this was good. I was at first very skeptical. But the wirting is on point and flows really well. It simply pulls you along.
The story itself is good. I am intrigued on why the main character wants world domination but besides that i am all the more excited to follow her journey. I am curious to know what the peak of magic looks like. And the exploration of new types of magic too !
Her very gender seem to create hindrances to her path but its very interesting and fun seeing how she dealts with them !
I still want to see more or the world around her and how much it has changed from her time. I even have a hidden desire to see society further its technological advance. Perhaps to see the world around her become more like ours ? But where would she fit in all of this ? Who knows !
And what are the gods ? Where do they Come from ? What happens if you kill a god, do another pop up ? Excited to see all this unfolded !

i expected this novel to be straightforward like all the other shit reincarnation novels, where a dude is op coz he shagged spiders with his mana as a baby, ending up with so much mana at the ripe age of 12 that they can whomp a capital city’s guard ensbemble. luckily that aint the case.
this isn’t a power fantasy (at least not yet ig) and probably won’t be, so if you’re looking for that, this novel won’t really give you the hit. the aspect of reincarnation as a lich does not only include his(her) incredible talent but also the baggage that comes with being an enemy of the world since almost birth(in his previous life).
now a girl, the lich now has to deal with an entirely new world of technology and social strata that we can say existed around the 1800s in our world. isabel(the lich) starts to grow through living life as a girl unwillingly in order not to blow her cover.
the cool thing about this though isnt the storyline in particular but the setting and the process - the characters are realistically flawed, and the situations she is put in are the more likely ones for a child to go through even in a magical world. the author doesn’t shy away from the sexism or the abuse but writes them in a way that would feel relatable to anyone reading the novel.
one thing i’ll say, it’s likely too slow for some so if you don’t like stories that dive into social interactions beyond “you’re a wizard harry” “oh my GOOOD” and then a timeskip for wizardry you probably wouldn’t enjoy this one

I love reincarnation stories, and this one hits the spot. It's about a powerful mage who rose to lichdom and reincarnates into the far future, where the world is far different from what they remember. They need to start from the beginning and all the hijinks that entail. It's still a bit early, but it's one I am looking forward to reading more of.
Story: Most reincarnation stories focus on the MC knowing significantly more than the society they are reborn into, or simply lacking some resource to reach greater heights. This story focuses on the main character having to learn about the society in which they find themselves. It's a neat twist, and as a reader, I enjoy getting to learn alongside the main character.
I feel like the stakes are real and stacked against the main character despite their vast advantage.
A bit of a warning, this story is darker/grayer than most reincarnation stories. I don't find this bad.
    Grammar: Found no issues
Character: The main character feels well-defined and grows as the story progresses. In my opinion, this is the category in which the story has the most potential to grow. The story is still early on, so I am excited to see where the author takes it.
Style: I like the style. The main character rides the line between being funny and being the evil lich they are.

I gave this novel a try after seeing it in the Rising Stars section, and I’m glad I did. It doesn’t feel like most reincarnation stories on the site. While reading, I got the impression it was written by someone experienced who knows what they’re doing. The fact that it’s updated daily with this level of quality is another plus, though I know that might change as the book goes on.
Getting into specifics, this one takes a bit of time to get used to. The first chapter is a little overwhelming with its large scale action, and at first I thought it wouldn’t differ much from other average Rising Stars novels here. But there’s clearly a lot of thought put into it: the magic system, worldbuilding, etc. What really hooked me is how the author stays true to the lich personality without breaking character. It makes the story very immersive.
The protagonist is great. I never really think of him as Isabel, I’m constantly reminded he’s a big, spooky skeleton. You know, an ancient evil, not some lich with modern human quirks. The author doesn’t try to paint him as morally okay. We’re consistently shown his mindset, and he’s already done some genuinely terrible things, so it’s not just “think evil, act morally gray.” He stays consistent, but his thinking still feels human, just twisted and alien. More importantly, he feels competent and comes across as genuinely intelligent.
At the same time, the author manages to weave in comedy. Not in a forced “this is supposed to be funny” way, but through context and how the character experiences things. Sometimes it almost feels a bit cartoonish with the whole cackling evil skeleton vibe, but it never breaks immersion. On top of that, the protagonist does show some development, and I get the impression there’s more to come, which makes him more compelling than just a static embodiment of evil.
Moving on, I feel like the novel promises a lot, and people might expect quick power spikes and that usual dopamine hit popular here. It doesn’t reall

A lich not condemning humanity, but embracing it while wanting more. The story offers an original take on the lich archetype. The writing is personnal, and offers various points of view to make it easy to understand contexte. If you want a story with a resolute MC, serious scenes, and sprinkle of sassy humour, you should like this. One note though, the story is heavy on "point of view" aspect. So don't come if you want descriptions of everything, the narration's focus is on what the character wants/perceive.Also, as of writing this, one chapter a day, delactable positive.

Well, in my opinion the MC's ultimate goals come across as absurdly unrealistic and demented, but I find the experience of following along as the MC works thru the twists and turns of coping with childhood while trying to recapture his/her former power ... while hiding her ruthless villain vibe is entertaining.  The memoir-like autobiographical paragraphs that open each chapter suggest the MC eventually matures into someone less, shall we say, dreadful.
