Description

Life had dealt Mila a miserable hand. With her health failing and dreams plagued by experiences from a different world, she was left detached from her surroundings.

Despite that, she was determined to live through it peacefully. So, when confronted with a spell meant to summon people to another world, she was less than happy. And worryingly, she was not the target. Not exactly.

Arc (Book) - 1  (Chapters 1-65)

Mila’s mind was in a strange place. With so many tragic experiences shaping her in her dreams, it was hard to find common ground with her peers.

Even here, where most of her dreams had originated from, Mila was an outlier in many aspects.

Killing was necessary. Sacrifices could be justified. The world demanded cruelty.

However, now, Mila found herself to be a target of romantic feelings. And turning the girl down should have been easy…

…But Mila failed.

And now, with a crack in her hardened heart, Mila has to find a road forward, not just for herself but also for those she holds dear.

If only they weren’t hunted by most of the world. It wasn’t their fault the ‘Horror’ was released. They just happened to be there.

Amazing story. I'm not taking off any points for grammatical errors at all. To me this is similar to the way Tamsyn Muir uses language in a slightly non-standard way and is totally legit. Sure, there are some problems with words here and there, however these are the types of issues that can be resolved easily and quickly with a good proofreader. They are not the types of style and grammar issues that are pervasive and require rewrites to large sections of the story.
The story itself is so engaging and the characters so wonderful that I had a real hard time putting this down. I think I read the over 1100 pages in about 3 days. It would have been faster, but I also had to work and take care of a 12-year-old during that time.
This is not your normal isekai novel. This is a reimagining that bypasses all the tired troops of the genre and becomes a model on how to do it right. This is a model for how authors should find at their own voice and commit to crafting a story that has its own life. A story where their characters actually live and breathe and where things don't always follow a convenient narrative path.
The way the characters are so wonderfully and beautifully flawed is so much fun to read. The moral compass actually gets it wrong more than he gets it right and the morally inept person does better because of her pragmatic and mercenary approach. It's in the morally gray areas that we find someone with convictions and purpose who is actually able to navigate reality and achieve the best outcomes. The good guys are shown to be true villains while protecting others and the villains commit heinous deeds to protect their own.
This was such a wonderful story to read and I'm really looking forward to the end of the second book and what happens in the third.
    Thank you Enkiari, well done.

I'm really glad I stumbled across this story. I love the characters and while there is certainly room for improvement, this story just hits a lot of the things I like. I also appreciate the romance continuing to develop while being firmly established fairly early on. The power system is at a level where the story can stay grounded while still having cool magic and dangerous threats. I just really enjoy reading this so 5/5.

    Love the story so far.
Character building is great and its nice to see a change rather then nothing.
World building is there and helpful for developing the story without going off road.
While the main side characters are developed we see additional characters to build the environment of the story so you don't get stuck with repeating fights.

I mean, nothing was promised, I'm going off the vibe of what I have read.
The start was solid. Seemingly strong personality of MC, very experienced, but not without problems. The setup of the plot promised adventure and some epic power struggles and intrigues. Classical isekai with its own premises. Felt like reading a Japanese novel (in style, tropes, characters, plot?).
Then it all slowly started to wobble. It seemed to me that the story got overloaded with ideas, and  failed to combine them together to continue the "solid" story that stays cohesive and consistent.
Initially we got introduced with power systems of the characters, but later it just stopped even being mentioned or developed at all.
The story tries to be a dark gory struggle fantasy with a calculating MC, and then the MC's personality gets reduced into a horny teenager, while the story sometimes takes silly turns, or silly character interactions. This was unexpected, and the mix feels quite jarring. Also don't expect any realism.
Slowly all dialogues and interactions between characters became a competition of who can irritate one another more, sometimes spending full chapters solely on it. Characters felt annoying, some to a very high degree. It is unsatisfying to read an annoying character getting pampered and rewarded by the story instead of punished - there must be some release mechanism of bottled up emotions. The personalities and their values turn off and on when plot needs to progress. Some character development just gets forgotten and ignored. Lots of plotholes the size of a black hole in that regard.
Acting characters in the story are crazy, without explanation or comprehensive backstory - just crazy, in a crazy world. There are attempts to show perspectives, but they are not showing or explaining how it came to be. Of course there were one or two well written background characters, but they had little screen time.
The writing style felt lacking in describing the surroundings. I was lost wha
