The Immovable Object (A LitRPG/Isekai/Progression Fantasy Adventure)

Description
Alex suddenly found himself on the scorching sands of a gladiator arena with enemies hell-bent on killing him. Bewildered and afraid, he picked up the closest weapon he could find, which just so happened to be a shield.
The new world he was summoned to is vastly different from Earth. Magic exists. Runes grant people incredible powers and abilities. Nearly everyone has a level and a class. There are enchanted weapons and armor, floating dungeons, violent invasions, magical beasts, and powerful gods.
He'll have to master his new weapons and Runic Powers if he wants to survive long enough to find a way back home. But first, he has to escape the gladiator arena he's now being forced to fight in. He won't let the fact that he's just a tank class stop him, though.
Alex has too many questions and not enough answers. Why was he chosen as the Champion of a Goddess? What are The Seven Seals, and what lurks beneath them? Why should he be responsible for defending them?
Join him as he unravels the mysteries of Astika, and discovers who he truly is in the process.
New chapters are published 2-3 times per week.

- YohaoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story starts in what it does best, a fight. The fights are really well thought out, believable and are great at making the reader keep on their toes due to the tension.
The system is really really interesting, just the fact that it's at the same time ethereal and physical, being represented in tattoos, was a really nice touch that gives it it's own mark of distinction from other systems. The progression is also interesting, we don't know for certain yet how it works in choosing the ability to be updated or transformed, tho I have my personal start of a theory for it.
The characters still aren't all that explored, we know their backstories but still didn't get all that deep in them. Tho I hold high expectations that we will get more about them, the fact of Alex, the mc, not only not being a Gary Stu but also being actually pretty smart is a really good sign for the future of the series.
The world is really interesting and is being constructed really well and beyond the blandness of the usual "fantasy world Isekai" that we see in some series.
There weren't any grammar mistakes or weirdly built sentences that caught my attention.
The story has a rough start on the emotions side of things, appearing a bit erratic at times, but the authors clearly is getting better at showing the characters emotional state. Another thing the author does really well is playing with the readers expectations, I'm trying to keep this review spoiler free so no comments beyond the advice: trust the author, he clearly knows what he's doing and where he's taking the story.
Anyway, definitely recommend this story ! Thanks a lot for writing and keep up the amazing work, author ! - Donny ClearwaterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An incredible start and no major pitfalls so far. Its been an interesting story so far with a realistic MC, relatable characters, and clear motivation for the things they do. The reveals about the seals feel a bit too soon to take full advantage of where the MC is concerned however but that can be easily remedied.
Still it holds huge potential for the future and I would be ecstatic for the author to start posting again. The only thing I would recommend for constructive criticism is that you get a little more variety in the skills and their effects. Several skills seem to have identical effects with different names.
To me this seems like a bit of a plot hole because runes are all supposedly unique to the individual. I'd recommend lowering the percentages and adding secondary effects such as a chance to maim or bleed or cripple depending on skill.
Other then that I would also recommend something similar to a 'threshold' system for stats reaching certai mile stones. Some common ones are either by multiples of 10 or every certain amount like 500 or 1,000.
I think it would be a good way of recognizing just how impressive having the MC's vit over 500 is because so far its just been expressed as crazy, impressive or ridiculous with no other real significance. - pyropoetRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love this story I have a hard time finding stories about tanks I hope to see this updated again. This is the first time time I have ever seen a tank story and I hope to see more like it. The way the changes and event affects the main character are amazing.
- RineeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really fun read, interesting system format. For your worth as an author please don't do any one the disservice of dropping this even if you remove it from royal road to put it somewhere you can get some substantial monetary support/incentive. Do what you have to do. My only concern is that he resembles the character depicted by the book's title at the late stages: Black helm, matching full body armor and shield topped of with a black spear. For as I know, spears are best combined with shields because of reach, hits per second and distance control. Especially distance control. Please do an enchanted obsidian spear with spinning edge (chainsaw) for slash damage and life steal. I wish you Good luck and an even better time writing.
- Smash_MooseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Loved the series, hope it's not over but understand if it is. Either way great work bud I throughly enjoyed every chapter. Thank you for the experience. It says I need more words so here are more words banana, pickle, donkey, Phil, Ecuador, kitten, prolapse, kidney, pastrami, hoodlums and moose.
- cryptic-lordRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0a shame that it is on hiatus. good worldbuilding, good characters, just an overall high quality. nothing to do about said hiatus though

It's not very experimental or new, but a solid implementation of the genre in general.
The system mechanics are setup so the progression is quick, but the characters still have to earn it. There are frequently milestones to get excited about and feel the satisfaction of progression, but they don't seem ridiculous. If you know that you enjoy that type of thing, I would strongly recommend giving this story a read.
The MC is definitely not a gary stu, so this story may not be for you if you're looking for an OP MC Power Fantasy experience. Rather, the MC is moderately intelligent with very rational build choices and fights. Everything he does makes sense and my anti plot armor senses never really tingled.
However, another one of the highlights is that all of the characters are very identifiable with unique and interesting personalities. The primary characters work together as a trio with the MC as the leader/tank, a level-headed male healer, and a bit of a sassy female primary damage dealer. There is also a supporting mentor figure with the primary villain being the royal who owns the gladiators. - grovekeeperRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The premise was really interesting and that is the only plus point of the story. The rest of it, be the dialogues or characters feel stale. There is no life to them and all conversation is either jesting with friends or clearing doubts. All people are really helpful and nice which feels weird. Maybe the characters can be fleshed out more, but the story is really fast paced. The system is something which gives abilities for free so anyone can become powerful easily. There is no real consequence of level difference even though it's mentioned in the story as the Mc can easily kill people twice his level. Mostly the story is just a description of items and status with a loose thread.
- MadHat3rRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Welp, I'm going to be dropping this one. Started off strong and enjoyable, but recently I have felt the dialoge especially fall in quality. Characters and their personalities becoming more childish and immature over time rather than less. Along with that, tactical decisions and their reasoning has always been rather weak or straight up nnonfunctional. Which is a shame, because I found the premise to be interesting and some moments compelling, but with the recent dramatic shift in story those moments have been coming less frequently and in their place has been pieces of writing that feel like fan fiction in their own original world.
- StomachfoodRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Premise wise while not too unique the story is enjoyable enough if you like this sort of plot. The writing, while relatively simplistic, is good enough to enjoy without any major detriment.
The problems are with the characters and settings and pacing issues. The characters are flat, they start to develop in the later chapters but not enough. We get like 2 or 3 lines of actual personal dialogue to help give some backstory and then the rest of the so called team just become mobile plot devices intended to carry the story further without further development. The MC is not much better. The past trauma and the emotional swings help add some depth but it comes off as almost artificial because of how fast paced everything is.
The setting/world building is nearly nonexistent. We get hints at a wider universe with big bads and goods pointed out. Then those hints are glossed over and forgotten as other more instantly gratifying plot points zoom through. Even the smaller settings that are slightly better built just become blips now the rear view mirror as the story zooms around.
The underlying issue that if fixed would correct all of my gripes is the pacing. You are going too fast and all these points are going to get worse if you don’t slow down to fix them. Plot holes are going to grow bigger without a proper foundation, characters will continue being shadows of a cardboard cutout, etc. Slow it down, build up an actual story and this could go somewhere. Fast paced can be good but make it at least reasonable.
Would have given three stars but the whole spider lady dating popped up. Come on, they have met a grand total of like 3 times for maybe 10 minutes each and you made them essentially confess love for each other. That’s not really how relationships work.
