Description
"You are all confused. This is understandable. So, allow me to clear up your confusion. Currently, you have all been randomly selected to participate in a… well, let us call this asocial experiment."
One day, a god stole ten thousand people from their homes. In return, it granted them immortality, with only one condition. That being to fight, and fight, and fight, until only ten of them remained. To kill each other for the right to truly ascend.
Of the many rulers of this new world, five stand out among all others.
Juliette, the Conquering Queen.
Jamal, the King of Travellers.
Fatima, the Silver Tounged.
Joseph, the Sunset King.
And Heng, the Lord of Mammoths.
But more than they fight to rule. And as the reign of the God-Kings begins, one must remember; everyone is the hero of their own story.

This fiction is good. Very good in fact.
It tells the story of many Earthlings that get transported to another, barely developed world. (I am not sure what time period it corresponds to on Earth, as while they have adopted a hunter gatherer lifestyle, they somehow have access to shields) They must each develop their nations in the wilderness and strive to survive impossible odds. (10/10000 survive).
The story idea is fascinating. It honestly carries the novel.
The problem, however, comes in the form of narration. The author likes to jump around a VERY large assortment of characters. While this can expand the world, it comes at the cost of lack of attachment. You don't care about certain characters and you can't see a city get built from the ground up.
This problem is only compounded when the author introduces the "5 Kings," 5 people who are destined to become the leaders of the entire world. It is, quite literally, one of the worst spoilers I have seen. The tension that you could've observed from competing parties (for example Sam vs Juliette) is whittled down because you know that
Juliette will win no matter what. - SchrodingerscatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story here is certainly one of the best simply because, lack for a better word, it is smooth. The characters and the dialogue is alive in a way I cannot describe. And most of all it is entertaining! It has all the key things I love about books.
It even emotes emotions! Something I strive for my own writing. It's hard to make fictional characters become characters you care about, hate or love, but here I am immersed just enough to have such strong reactions.
I hate Juliette, I smile at the little jokes here and there...
The writing is not strong, not weak, for me it is just enough and I like that.
In the end I recommend this as a severely underated gem of a read that you should at least give a try. - Starlit RoninRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has some of the best world building I've ever seen, with natural progression and an extremely interesting premise.
The initial idea is simple- a mysterious entity has kidnapped ten thousand people, and forces them to rule over small villages in a stone-age society, and tells them to duke it out until only 10 of them remain.
This premise allows the author to explore a variety of things like conquest, politics and the development of science and technology.
Having a single protagonist do all this would be too strenuous on the reader, and the author masterfully handles this by introducing multiple POVs. Each character offers a break from the others and are distinct from one another. Juliette conquers and develops her village, Fatima introduces politics, and Jamal offers a break from all this by just exploring the world.
I'd recommend this story to people who like base-building, historical fiction and adventure fantasy. - warjosh56Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not really sure how to write a review but this is very good in my opinion the concept is good characters little to no mistakes with grammar I think easy to read and yeah just a good story also despite all the different perspectives I found it easy to keep up with all the different characters I find all the different characters are likeable so yeah just over all good
