Description
Steven Lonheim, a former criminal on Earth, dies and is summoned to meet a God in the realm between worlds. This place is aptly named the In-Between. Steven is sentenced to be reborn as a Goblin slave, as punishment, for his vileness. After years of grueling labor, he meets a tragic end in a dungeon. However, his journey is far from over. A Fallen God resurrects him and gives him a choice of powers to acquire. Steven chooses Necromancy, granting him the ability to raise and control the dead.
With his newfound power, he takes on the moniker "Karloc" and sets out on a holy quest to free the Goblin race from their life of slavery. He faces countless obstacles and battles as he rises up against those who seek to keep the Goblins oppressed. His unwavering determination and cunning are matched only by his thirst for vengeance.
As Karloc, Steven must navigate treacherous nations, make difficult decisions, and ultimately, bring an end to the centuries of enslavement. Will he succeed in freeing the Goblins, or will he fail in his quest? The fate of an entire race rests in the hands of this former criminal-turned-Necromancer.

In conclusion, The Goblin Who Would Be King is creative and imaginative, and the characters are memorable and engaging. I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves dark fantasy and adventure! ♥ - M.G DriverRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sometimes I just love a good Monster MC stomp - sure, he used to be human, and a bit of a scumbag, but he's a Goblin now and no one is going to get in his way to becoming King.
Vicious brutal battles with corpses, gores, massacres and full battlefield wipes are but side treats for this story. It already hints at an up and coming grand kingdom building - can't wait to see the goblins unite and take over the lands(or planet or universe?)
Style:
Great LitRPG, nice use of blue boxes that makes the skills clearer to see. Battle sequences are logical and flow nicely, with skills and attacks weaved in correctly.
One thing i must note is that some of the battle paragraphs are fairly chunky, being more than a 150-200 words. Personally I feel that short sentences in a battle makes more sense due to the high tension that the reader experience, making them read faster. This means paragraph spacing is very important. However, this is merely a personal opinion.
Story:
Good for a LitRPG - it's all about progression after all. The goal of the MC and motivations are clear and concise, and also easy to get behind. Five long years as a slave would definitely make me angry against my captors.
The class selection was a bit unexpected for me - but made the fights a lot more interesting.
Grammar:
Some punctuation errors in a few chapters, but nothing damaging to the reading experience, I don't fret about such things.
Character:
So far we only have our MC being introduced + the Goblin Father, so there's not much to say in terms of characterization. The MC is already well defined with goals, reasons and inner logic as seen through his inner monologues, so I have no complaints. The character is definitely believable - a bit unhinged, but still realistic.
One way to improve this even further is to make it a bit more emotional to really draw the reader in, though I'm not sure how the author could pull that off.
Overall, great read - can't want to see some goblins dominating the world. It reall - RighteousEggRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The main character's previous life was a bad guy, and now he is reborn as a kobold. Just reborn into this one world and has been a slave for five years. After finding a dungeon, he died again? He seems to be able to resurrect infinitely? This seems to be a story about revenge. I think you can describe in more detail why the MC wants to take revenge, i.e. what the MC has suffered in these five years. Otherwise, it seems a bit blank. Overall, it's a story worth reading.
