Starting May 12th, book one (chapters 1-49, now professionally edited and improved) will be available only on Amazon:(Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, Audible)
First they ran from death. Now they run from him.
Summoned to another world by an ancient lich, Asher is surprised to find there is one type of dead body his training as a mortician’s apprentice didn’t prepare him for. Not exactly a fan of being held captive by the dead any more than he enjoyed being held past closing time for them, Asher decides to use his newfound dimensional abilities to see himself out.
Only after stealing the culmination of a few centuries worth of illegal magical experimentation of course.
In a world where resurrection magic means death is more of a suggestion for the upper class than the rule, Asher eventually discovers his stolen power is capable of ensuring anything that dies by his hand, staysdead.
For some reason, a lot of very powerful people find this rather upsetting.
An ancient cabal of forgotten liches. The elite organization of noble truthseekers. Even the kingdom’s famous assassin’s guild. It seems just about anyone who deals in death wants to claim his mysterious power for themselves, and most of them will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
Not unless Asher can get to them first.

- dahollyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of my favorite stories in the past several months (I’ve read through the story from the beginning in about three days). I especially appreciate how rich the world and magic system is and how it has been revealed over time. The journey to different towns, each with its own specialization is a great touch. Looking forward to more.
- Haz3Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0To begin. This doesn't feel like an isekai at all, the isekai more of a means to give him his power in a logical fashion . His old world has little do with things, his memories don't matter much, and overall... I don't care about his old life. Hell neither does he, which is such a refreshing change, because GOD is he living it up.
It's a multi-realm fantasy with intricate depths and high power scaling. Our mc, originally from earth, is summoned into this world with nothing to his name besides a very strong skill and a little bit of spite. The power system is certainly unique, with him stumbling into a powerful set of skills and powers that get him onto half the worlds radar. He's by no means the only strong person however, as we're introduced to beings, humans or otherwise, with some equally terrifying and destructive talents through the system they all possess. Elements are bought, found or scavenged, and the range of options are limitless for his potential enemies and allies alike. The world building is brilliant, and the power system inherently diverse and strong.
The characters. Our main cast is loveable (most of the time, looking at you M), with realistic conversations and interaction. Nothing feels inauthentic, the dynamics are tangible and relatable, and there's sprinkles of humour throughout that keeps the story edged with a light hearted frame. It's a fun read, with no flaws I can really see or inadequacies that may let it down. It's frankly addictive, the pacing allowing the whole story to flow into one giant chapter that feels like it never truly has breaks or slow points to disrupt its flow. It's fantastically written, and the author clearly has their fun in writing it - Joe WhoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As you can see in the title, I firmly believe this is an incredible story, despite the comparatively small chapter count compared to some of the monsters on this website. The power system is very interesting, with no stats or constant power ups - Asher has to work, and often suffer, for every last skill level he gains. Also, recently it was hinted that there are deeper divisions of power within the system, but I won't say any more than that. The MC, Asher, immediately distinguishes himself as such - he is, admittedly, a murderhobo at times, however he still is an enjoyable character who recognises his own flaws and grows over the course of the story. Every other character, big or small, has depth and feels distinct, not just cut and pasted NPCs, and there are no meaningless words - if you notice something, it'll appear later. The plot and ending of book 1, which has just finished at my time of writing this, is incredible, and while it finishes in a very satisfying manner, there are still a myriad mysteries left to be discovered. The grammar is consistently perfect or nearly so - I rarely notice anything, and if I point it out, Mr Dude fixes it often even within a few minutes. Which brings me onto my final point. The author himself. He is consistently an all round nice guy, answering questions and taking constructive criticism very well, as well as any of the few corrections which need doing, and even going as far as to recognise the people who consistently comment on his chapters. Can't recommend highly enough, and if you like this, his other story, Explorer of Edregon, is also great and has a review from me as well if you'd like more information. Toodle pip, tally ho, and as always, ALL HAIL REGINALD!
- Alex FrostRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, what to say about The Eternal Assassin?
It's an absolute blast right from the start. The main character, Asher, is a perfectly normal guy tossed into a wild situation. Snark, combat, and adventure ensue as he gets free, saves a damsel in distress, kills monsters, and pisses powerful people off.
One of my favorite things about this story is that it contains what might be one of my favorite romances I've found in a story so far. It's not too terribly complex and the romance starts far earlier than you'd expect from such a long story, but that doesn't take anything away from it. The romance between the two characters is some of one of the most wholesome things and it's a relationship that I've grown to love and am always eager to see more of.
Of course, the romance isn't the main focus of this story, it's the adventure and action. The further you read, the more of the interesting world that you (and Asher) get to find out about. And watching Asher go from a normal guy to a bit of a combat junkie is both hilarious and slightly concerning, especially when you consider his tendency to throw himself at things way beyond his weight class...
Eh! I'm sure he'll be fine. - ShenanigansjoyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Not gonna lie, I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did, but I was pretty much immediately pulled into the world and into loving the main character. Asher is certainly morally grey, but the wide cast of side characters he cares for and interacts with showcase his emotional depth and make him so much more than the usual loner MC.
This story also features lovely, complex and unique world- building and cities, a rock- solid overarching plot with no characters discarded so far, and smooth transitions between books. It's also surprisingly funny and sweet in spots, creating a great balance of all the best parts of books - loveable characters, extensive world- building, humor and plot! The only complaint i have is that the grammar is occasionally iffy, but since the author interacts and implements edit suggestions even in earlier chapters, that's fine. - Bluelightning42Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story is a fun popcorn flick. It has a pretty standard battle hungry MC. Some semi standard but well explored and written [skills]. As far as the three assasin litrpgs I've read, this one was the most entertaining even if others had more stakes and drama.
Probably the best endorsement I have is that after picking up and dropping two other stories after 2-3 chapters, I hit this one and read 71 chapters in a single day. - BookWyrm24Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Honestly this one is a lot of fun, a great adventure with an interesting system and some great worldbuilding fleshing out the consequences of the powers.
This one skips the worst of the edginess and other sharp edges of the LitRPG assassins and has an interesting thoughtful character who makes friends, reasonable decisions, and is genuinely a liable character even with the battle maniac trope.
Anther extremely solid entry by the author who posts extremely consistently. One id recommend to anyone intersted. - Grey PilgramRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Much better than I thought based on the last introduction and the cover set. Not nearly as edge Lord, though it is tending towards black hole of snark.... I guess time will tell. Pretty good though, and intesting. I like the characters, powers, system and early world building. However the author is only funny half as much as he'd like to be.
- PabloypabloRoyal Road★★★ 3.0500 pages.....
And we still haven't seen the MC be an Assassin yet!
Murder hobo? Yes.
Assassin. NO.
And perma death?
Why son, that is just a future gleam in the storyteller's nib, probably another 500 pages out before we found out what was promised in the Story Blurb.
I've read this far, because the author's writing style is good. But any good editor would be editing out 250 of the 500 pages of non plot progressing filler.
Maybe the author will eventually progress the plot quicker. My plan is to stop reading the story for a while and then skim through the massive amount of unpalatable starch encrusted, undigestible cellulose filler, to pick out the remaining morsels of that flavorful meaty plotline we were promised oh so so long ago.
Yes, Yes I know that I am on a website that is a free webserial concept, that many authors use to get their stories written and develop a following for a hopeful launch on the paying platforms.
So I do understand that therefore the natural bias is to not progress the plot too fast, because more views mean more pages read and thus higher overall rankings.
But the knife's edge result is that many authors, such as this one, end up either burning out because THEY TOO get bored of what they are writing. Or, they burn through their plot points so rapidly, they don't have any more story to tell, thus once again abandoning the reader(s).
If only there was a way, to I don't know..... follow the tried and true story telling method? I'm pretty sure that it worked for 1000s of years before, so while old fashioned, they are the stories that were passed down thru the generations. - KonnurRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The story has a great foundation, the power system is interesting and the character interactions are pretty good. There are just a few issues with how the MC interacts with the system and the choices he makes.
MC takes to the system extremely quickly and then unlocks a class and completely ignores it. Then learns classes give bonuses and ignores it. Then unlocks a second class option and ignores it.
The romance seems forced and fast but that's more of a personal preference.
MC hears the magic police are being called into town after he murders a guy for exploiting the FMC and leaves FMC and her little brother behind to go find a library. Does he think the magic police don't have an understanding of motive and won't immediately ask the FMC if she was involved?
