Community Rating
Description
Reborn into the villain of his sister’s favorite romance novel, William assumes the identity of Asterius, the god of fate, and is forced to follow the plot of the original novel. But when he reaches the end of the epilogue, he isn’t allowed to go home. Unknown to him, he’s greatly changed the plot of the original, because the cold and distant Demon Prince is now in love with him!
With the epilogue now long gone, he has to quickly adapt to being permanently stuck as Asterius, except there are a few problems.1 – He’s been stripped of his godhood and no longer has any of his powers.2 – There’s a very dangerous immortal god hunting him down.3 – The System has stopped working.[4 – He might be a little in love with a demon].

- DavidKingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I expected this story to be a fun read that would just help me fill the time, something I wouldn't need to really think about. but this story is so much better.
The author has a vaguely poetic way of writing and it truly helps paint a picture of the setting and characters. The style is unique and immediately grabs your attention.
The world-building itself is very good as well. Deep and complex the setting is full of magic and gods, and the author does a very good job of slowly peeling back the curtain, showing the dark underside of the world.
All the characters feel alive and like they could be real people. Why they do what they do is mostly explained and the rest can be pretty heavily assumed. Cadeyrn is probably my favorite character so far, he is in such an interesting position as a prisoner of war, and his conflicting feelings of loyalty and repayment are things I can understand.
Sometimes there are typos but everything gets fixed very fast once the author notices.
It is a romance, but it's a slow romance, characters are attracted to each other but outside factors have made the romance move very slowly. Though I think I actually prefer that, it makes the payoff all the more exciting once it finally does come.
It is very good and I highly recommend. - DefinitelyNotAReptileRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story's summary is a lie. And I wish it wasn't, because what is described there is what I would actually like to read. This isn't the story of what happens after the epilogue, it's literally just the classic ''reincarnated as'' story. But worse because the first couple of chapters spoil everything important there is to know about what happens! I couldn't bring myself to care much about the main character's well being or the main romance because you start the story knowing more than 20 years in advance what that will be. If at least the story went in an interesting direction, diverting from the main plot that you already know, that would be fun, but no. The main character is chained to a system that will kill him if he deviates from the story, so we get 300 pages of just him being miserable because he's forced to do things he doesn't agree with, while having zero agency. If the famous ''story after the epilogue'' would have started at some point maybe this whole thing would have been worth something but we're starting book 2 now and we're far from being there still. If at least it was written with two timelines, one revealing the past, the other being the ''after epilogue'' present, we could have had a story where you actually wonder what will happen and still get the context the author seems to be desperate we have... It's a good thing the characters are so well written because I would not have dragged myself through this if they weren't!
