Description

What would you do if you were suddenly Isekai’d and lost most of your memories in the process? Because that’s precisely the dilemma Lily faced. After being reincarnated into a fantasy world and mistakenly turned into a spider, she was tasked by a ghostly woman with fighting and gaining experience to evolve, driven by the hope of remembering the past. While her arrival in that magical world might not have been as random as Lily initially believed, she still had lingering doubts she couldn’t shake: why did it feel like playing a game rather than living in real life? Was that really her first time there? Who was that voice in the back of her mind? Many truths remained for her to uncover. What to expect: - Spider MC (monster evolution) and a fun supporting cast- Skilled to OP- Slow(ish)-paced progression- Dungeons, boss fights, exploration, and world-building, sprinkled with a bit of slice of life- Lots of magic!- No Harem Inspired by: - Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End- So I’m a Spider, So What- Solo Leveling- That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime- World of Warcraft Updates every M/W/F after the first 10 chapters.

I'm only halfway through chapter 4 but so far I'm going to have to DNF this.It has potential.
This story is a LitRPG/progression fantasy story about a human who reincarnates as a spider in a system-based fantasy world. The concept fits well, but it is very similar to So I'm a Spider, So What? by Okina Baba. Because of that, the premise may feel derivative unless the story later separates itself more clearly.
The opening chapter follows a familiar structure for the genre. A strange event happens in the protagonist’s old life, she wakes up in darkness, interacts with a mysterious system, and realizes she has been reincarnated as a spider. The sequence is easy to follow, but the opening line is very cliché and the emotional reactions are repeated multiple times. Scenes often explain the same feeling more than once, which slows the pacing.
The prose is readable but tends to be wordy. The story frequently uses extra description, internal thoughts, and modifiers that could be shortened without losing meaning. Dialogue is one of the stronger parts of the manuscript. Lily’s sarcastic tone works well and helps give the story a lighter, comedic feel that fits the genre. That said, the basilisk antagonist speaks in very generic villain dialogue and does not have a distinct voice.
Character development is still limited in these chapters. Lily mostly reacts to events around her rather than showing deeper motivations or personality traits. Her panic, sarcasm, and curiosity come through, but there is not much emotional grounding yet. The spirit character mainly exists to explain the system and the reincarnation mechanics, so it feels more like an exposition device than a full character.
The basilisk encounter is the strongest section. The scene escalates clearly from the system warning to the chase and the trap with the flame prison. The action is easy to visualize and the author does a good job keeping the physical space understandable during the fight. Lily using the Silk Web sk

I have a soft spot for stories about becoming a spider, so I was primed to like this, but there are some glaring issues that need to be addressed before it can hold my interest. Namely, that the pacing is frantic, the descriptions are short and vague or not there at all, and characters talk like they've got somewhere to be and don't have time to think about anything.
My advice to the author: slooow doooooown! What do the environments look like? What can you smell? What can you hear? Is it humid or dry? How does our narrator feel about it? Is she concerned about missing memories? Is it strange adjusting to an entirely alien body plan? Are the senses noticeably different from a human's? What do the monsters actually look like? (Descriptions there have been sparse or non-existent.) I don't want to get faceblasted by actions and dialogue as the story rushes along at maximum speed, I want to live in the story. To feel like I'm there. Suspend my disbelief and immerse me in the experience. Otherwise, there's just no meat on these bones
