This is a really fun and engaging start. It has all the hallmarks of the start of a great series and it is so rare to see the image of a full fantasy laid out in such a calm way where we can clearly see a concise origin but don't feel like it is too much or too confusing.
It has to maintain such a high standard as more chapters are added but I can confidently say this is on par with some of my favourite fantasy novels and provides an excellent foundation for a whole world of adventure. I would love to see what balance can be brought in the latter chapters between the world building, politicking and of course the relationship between our main characters. What will be the twist? Will the story arrive at its climax with the same allure of mystery?
The dynamic between the characters leaves me wondering whether this will be a classic romance arc or will there be complications. In such an opening it would be interesting if a third party is introduced by the author or if there is a twist such as a lovers to enemies trope to flip the common lovers to enemies. We could see huge potential for interaction as their personalities inevitably shift and evolve with their new world and surroundings.
