Description
Life for a swamp goblin is usually pretty straightforward. Avoid the giant snakes, gators, wild boars, and the other creatures of the wetlands. Steal whatever supplies you need from the nearby farms, and go on raids against the nearest towns for the sheer thrill of causing chaos.
Dizzy was just a goblin. A swamp goblin. The kind of guy that adventurers kill without a thought while on their way to their real adventure. Mischievous but kind, silly and not an actual threat to anyone. At least that was the case before the pirates came. Orcs with sharpened steel arrived on the shores of the goblin swamp. His friends and families were taken. Everything and everybody lost. Now Dizzy has to be more than he ever thought he could be. Now Dizzy must become an adventurer and fight to free his people.
But when a murderous minotaur pirate and his crew of orc swashbucklers arrive in the swamp, intent on turning the coastal region into his own pocket kingdom, Dizzy must find a way to escape and rescue his tribe before they are used as expendable sword fodder. With fellow goblins Kitty and YDB at his side, what could possibly go wrong?

Overall score: 5/5
As the title says, this gem (pun intended) of a story was a shocking breath of fresh air in the world of fantasy novels. To start, our protagonists and villain are a welcome change from the standard humanoid races that many fantasy novels gravitate towards, utilizing the more monstrous races that other stories seldom explore. This use of unorthodox races and the apt handling of them helps the personalities of the characters shine, and clever writing helps makes sure the reader is acutely aware of the goblinoid upbringing of our protagonists. Mixed with a ruthless antagonist and you're left with an incredibly unique story that sucks you in before you even realize it.
Style: 4/5
The style of the story is very unique in the sense that it has the ability to be both serious at times while still keeping an air of mischievous humor to it with the stereotypical nature of the race being written. I would have loved to be able to give it a 5/5 star, but at times the writing tries to keep its feet in both tones and, while it usually works out, it can be a bit chaotic to follow along.
Story: 4.5/5
The story through and through is amazing and it's paced incredibly well. We open with our villain discovering the location of a gem that our antagonist wants. Spoiler, he makes his way to the tomb that holds his precious gem, and... it's already gone. Instead of finding a gem of great power, he finds dust and cobwebs. But not all is a loss for our antagonist because while there is no gem, there is a shama staff that he believes belonged to a goblin shaman. With the aid of his half-elf wizard ally, our antagonist and his crew set off to find the original owner of the staff to see what was done with the gem. This is a excellent narrative explanation for the how and the why our antagonist is the antagonist.
Grammar: 5/5
The spelling is good, the sentence structure is good, and the word usage is good. While reading I didn't find much if a
