Description

Dragon of the North...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...Aamon’s Axe. Dalric had many names. None as fitting as his last. Battle the Gods and the odds are always stacked against you. Battle yourself and you always lose. He spent much of his life doing both, and they were the only wars he'd seen defeat in. Alas, they were endless endeavors, never leaving him be. He thought eternal retreat would finally bring him peace, but even death could not free him. When Dalric found what he sought, he met not his end, but rather a new beginning. Once again, the battlefields called for him. This time, they would only accept victory. <><><> Some time in the future Heduana waved her hand at her poorly veiled client, "Enough. I'm a storyteller, not an informant. Whatever the case may be with thisthornof yours, it is a story unfinished. If you survive its end, you may return. I'll recite it to you." They cursed, stood, cursed again, and marched to the exit. Heduana giggled. After they had stormed away and she was once more left with nothing but her books and wayward souls, a glow came to her eyes accompanied by a devious tint to her smile, "To come to me… So the Gods' demon has returned not onlyunchained, butdefiant. Fascinating. And just in time to throw so many plans astray." She raised her hand and a tome dropped in it, "What tale will you tell this time,Dalric the Deathseeker." What To Expect:A good time. In a few more words than that, a good amount of intra personal conflict, of schemes and intrigue, of interesting spells, of worldbuilding, of intelligent characters, of some other sixth thing, and of chapters. This will be ajourney. Release Times:Sundays 1.35pm EST I also writeA King in the Clouds

Having enjoyed the previous iteration, this rewrite feels generally better. I’m giving a hopeful 5 stars in anticipation of a great story. May need to revise this in the future.
    ––––––––––––––
Characters: So far, we have only really seen one character, the MC Dalric, and how some others relate to him. Dalric is very fleshed out, he feels real. So far, he has been lost in his head a lot, be it reminiscing, thinking, monologuing, or dreaming.
Often, this is a sign of bad writing, isolating the MC from the world. Here, though, I see it as a deliberate stylistic choice to convey Dalric’s poor mental state, as well as a tool to flesh him out as a character. Despite being stuck in the land of imagination, much of his thinking is about others, and how they relate to his life.
I do hope that the narrative will open up to other characters soon, so that the world can be filled with agents, not with one MC and set-pieces. (As I recall from the old version, this should happen soon.) Some characters have already been introduced, though only superficially.
    –––––––––
The writing/style works well to convey what needs to be conveyed. Without direct exposition, more and more of the world is revealed. Scenes feel colourful and emotional. An okay sense of scale and space is conveyed, without devolving into long exposition on the landscape.
    –––––––
Story has barely progressed beyond the initial hook. That plot hook worked well at hooking my interest, and I see a lot of potential for how it can drag the plot forward for a long while yet. Other plot threads are already slowly revealing themselves, which will hopefully bring a sense of purpose and direction beyond that initial hook.
    –––––––
Grammar: This is a rewrite that has been cooking for quite a few months. Obviously, it’s good.

Its back and even better than it was. Its still early into the rewrite but I can tell everything is improved. Frysta is even more fantastical than before!
Style: Like with A King In The Cloud the style is the same but refined from his old writing. It is good, clear, and flows very well.
Story: This is a rewrite so I have much future knowledge and I am very excited. I favor large worlds with a lot of politics and intrigue and this already has the beginnings of that from the first chapters. Dalrics fight against his gods feels better too. I like that the contract is talked about more.
Characters: Amazing! The characters were the weakest point of the writing before but now its very very strong. Dalric stillspends much time in his thoughts but its less often and more meaningful. He has more depth and emotion. The new side characters are interesting too. I really like Heduana from the synopsis and Sixth.
Grammar: I did not notice any mistakes so 5*
The world building is still the best part and as I said its even better. The magic feels like fresh air in all the copy and paste mana litrpgs. The new races are all really interesting. I hope we see more Orators I am very interested in their history and abilities. I also want know where to buy that whiskey!

Excellence story that I'm loving the World building in it's got a decent pace that doesn't feel rushed and a character that is so far out of his comfort zone trying to figure out all the nonsense in the future he's been reincarnated in. The fight scenes are well written and enjoying the fact that this story does not have multiple points of views.

    Style
Very solid overall, the author clearly knows what he's doing, and it shows. The writing is clean and non-repetitive, the classic Fantasy style mixed with a matter-of-fact descriptions.
    Story
The plot of the story is quite frankly its main attraction, because it proposes smth most novels don't (and those who do, don't quite deliver) — the reincarnation of a hyper-competent protagonist, without all the filler consequences like being forced to spend years as a growing child, forced to attend some academy, etc. . The story knows what its promise is, and it does a damn good job at delivering it.
Sprinkle in a lot of mystery from the worldbuilding and the presence of the Gods, and you have yourself a very intriguing plotline, especially since Dalric will have to (presumably) integrate himself back into society at some point. Once he escapes the death trap jungle, of course.
    Character
I think the story has, up to this point, done a really good job of making sure its characters feel alive and like actual people. Switching the POVs a bit has definitely helped in that regard, and the story is clearly setting up an intertwining of their paths next.
    Grammar
Very rarely do I ever spot mistakes, and the author has fixed all the ones I did point out.
Overall, I heavily recommend this story.
Expect a very knowledgeable and off-the-bat competent protagonist, because that's who Dalric is. He may have lost his powers and has to regain them, but millenia of combat experience do not simply go down the drain...

Its kinda wordy sometimes but I like the feel of it. Lots of cool concepts going on. At the beginning I didn't really like Dalric, things just kept happening and he reacted to them. Now he's grown on me. He's wayyyy better when he can talk to other side characters.
Kinda too early to give 5 stars but ehn. Bonus chapter!

Desperately needs a re write. It’s just too all over the place and I had to keep going back and re reading it to try and make sense. But it chops around too much.
You could really do with laying out a template for your story, where it is going and how it will get there.
Now the negative comments are done with, I think that you have potentially a great story. I don’t want you to think for a second that I am suggesting that you stop writing as i believe that with a few tweaks you can really produce something great.
    cheers and regards
