Description

At the North-West Empire's grand celebration, Grand Emperor Herbio demands the Blood Tear of the Dragon Empress from Emperor Oknecao, who refuses-only to be betrayed and assassinated by his own concubines, loyal to Herbio. Sensing his death, the Empress sends her trusted lady-in-waiting, Leonos, to investigate, unaware of her betrayal.

Meanwhile, Princess Long Yan's maid, Maroon, overhears Leonos's plan to kill the princess. Acting fast, she knocks Leonos unconscious and helps Long Yan escape. Using the Blood Tear, Long Yan summons the white dragon, Yue Long, and flees. In hiding, she reveals the truth-she was once a saintess of the Red Dwarf Empire, framed by her brother, who was consumed by dark mana. Now, he has reincarnated as Herbio, and history threatens to repeat itself.

Herbio seizes the South-East Empire, branding Long Yan a fugitive. With war looming, she allies with Duke Vekem, her childhood love, marrying him for power. Together, they reclaim lost territories, but Herbio strikes back, launching a brutal assault. In battle, the High Priest fatally stabs Vekem. Enraged, Long Yan slays Herbio and the priest, but as enemy mages prepare a final strike, dragons intervene, dragging them into the underworld.

The war is won, but Vekem is gone. As Long Yan stands amidst the ruins, Maroon reminds her of her own words-crying for the dead won't bring them back.

Long Yan turns to her. Then, she speaks.

And everything changes.

It has a nice flow that is intriguing and fast-paced right off the bat, with a strong character dynamic and political tension if that's your sort of thing. I really like how Long Yan decisions spark both admiration and doubt.
The worldbuilding is fairly rich and a bit fresh for newer books on here, so if the faster pacing is your sort of thing and with drama being involved, I think you should read it and give it a fair shot.
